Moreover, the strong nonlinearity inherent in the wave slamming process significantly limits the accuracy of numerical analyses and finite element simulations. Therefore, this paper takes a new type of floating wind turbine as an example and performs a physical model test on the wave slamming characteristics of this floating wind turbine.Based on a 1:50 model of the Pivot Buoy floating wind turbine, an experimental study is performed under the combined effects of wind-wave loads on the peak pressure, duration, and pressure distribution of slamming. As the scale of turbines increases, wake interference between turbines becomes increasingly significant, especially for floating wind turbines(FWT).Some researchers find that wind farms with multiple hub heights could increase the annual energy production(AEP),while previous studies also indicate that wake meandering could increase fatigue loading. This study investigates the wake interaction within a hybrid floating wind farm with multiple hub heights. In this study, FAST.Farm is employed to simulate a hybrid wind farm which consists of four semi-submersible FWTs(5MW and 15MW) with two different hub heights. Three typical wind speeds(below-rated, rated, and over-rated) are considered in this paper to investigate the wake meandering effects on the dynamics of two FWTs. Damage equivalent loads(DEL) of the turbine critical components are computed and analyzed for several arrangements determined by the different spacing of the four turbines. The result shows that the dynamic wake meandering significantly affects downstream turbines’ global loadings and load effects. Differences in DEL show that blade-root flapwise bending moments and mooring fairlead tensions are sensitive to the spacing of the turbines.展开更多

Wind-only load cases, wave-only load cases and combined wind and wave load cases were analyzed separately for the Wind Star TLP system to identify the dominant excitation loads. Comparisons between an NREL offshore 5-MW baseline wind turbine installed on land and the Wind Star TLP system were performed. Statistics of selected response variables in specified design load cases(DLCs) were obtained and analyzed. It is found that the proposed Wind Star TLP system has small dynamic responses to environmental loads and it thus has almost the same mean generator power output under operating conditions as the land-based system. The ratio of ultimate load of the tower base fore-aft bending moment for the Wind Star TLP system versus the land-based system can be as high as 1.9 in all of the DLCs considered. These results will help elucidate the dynamic characteristics of the proposed Wind Star TLP system, identify the difference in load effect between it and land-based systems, and thus make relevant modifications to the initial design for the Wind Star TLP system.展开更多

The analysis in this paper is conducted in time domain, using an aero-hydro-servo-elastic simulation code-FAST. Owing to the unique viscous features of the reference system, the original viscous damping model implemented in FAST is replaced with a quadratic one to gain an accurate capture of viscous effects. Simulation cases involve free-decay motion in still water, steady motions in the presence of regular waves and wind as well as dynamic response in operational sea states with and without wind. Simulations also include the cases for transient responses induced by fast blade pitching after emergency shutdown. The features of platform motions, local structural loads and a typical mooring line tension force under a variety of excitations are obtained and investigated.展开更多

In this scheme, the control law is constructed in terms of estimated values for the bounds of the unknown coefficients, where these values are continuously updated by adaptive laws to ensure asymptotic convergence to zero for the output function. The proposed controller is applied to solve the problem of pitch angle regulation for a floating wind turbine with dynamic uncertainty and external disturbances. Numerical simulations are performed to demonstrate the validity of the designed controller to achieve the desired pitch angle for the floating turbine's body.展开更多

Simulations also include the cases for transient responses induced by fast blade pitching after emergency shutdown. The features of platform motions, local structural loads and a typical mooring line tension force under a variety of excitations are obtained and investigated.
文摘This paper discusses the damage identification in the mooring line system of a floating wind turbine(FWT)exposed to various environmental loads. The proposed method incorporates a non-probabilistic method into artificial neural networks(ANNs).The non-probabilistic method is used to overcome the problem of uncertainties. For this purpose, the interval analysis method is used to calculate the lower and upper bounds of ANNs input data. This data contains some of the natural frequencies utilized to train two different ANNs and predict the output data which is the interval bounds of mooring line stiffness.Additionally,in order to reduce computational time and more importantly, identify damage in various conditions, the proposed method is trained using constant loads(CL)case(deterministic loads, including constant wind speed and airy wave model)and is tested using random loads(RL)case(including Kaimal wind model and JONSWAP wave theory). The superiority of this method is assessed by applying the deterministic method for damage identification. The results demonstrate that the proposed non-probabilistic method identifies the location and severity of damage more accurately compared to a deterministic one. This superiority is getting more remarkable as the difference in uncertainty levels between training and testing data is increasing.

文摘In recent years, the exploitation of offshore wind resources has been attached with greater importance. As a result,semi-submersible floating wind turbines(FWTs)have gradually become a popular research topic, with the structural strength being a research hotspot as it can ensure the safe operation of FWTs.The severe sea conditions of freak waves result in enormous wave heights, extremely fast wave speeds, and concentrated energy. Thus,it is difficult to accurately simulate these effects on the loads of floating wind turbines using the potential flow theory and other theories. In this paper, the structural strength of a floating wind turbine under the action of freak waves is analyzed based on the CFD-FEA coupled method. The effects of the mooring system and the wind load are considered in the time domain, and the CFD method is applied to analyze the wave load of the floating wind turbine under the extreme sea state of freak waves. The strength and motion of the floating wind turbine float structure are analyzed by combining the CFD method and the FEA method, and the analytical results of the mutual transfer of these two methods are taken as the initial quantities for further analysis. The accuracy of the analytical model of the CFD-FEA method is verified by the results of the tank test analysis, and the structural strength analysis under freak wave conditions is carried out for a new type of floating wind turbine. The results of this research provide useful guidance and references for the design and engineering applications of offshore floating wind turbines.

文摘The selection of wave force models will significantly impact the structural responses of floating wind turbines. In this study, comparisons of wave force model effects on the structural responses and fatigue loads of a semi-submersible floating wind turbine(SFWT)were conducted.Simulations were performed by employing the Morison equation(ME)with linear or second-order wave kinematics and potential flow theory(PFT)with first-or second-order wave forces.A comparison of regular waves, irregular waves, and coupled wind/waves analyses with the experimental data showed that many of the simulation results and experimental data are relatively consistent. However, notable discrepancies are found in the response amplitude operators for platform heave, tower base bending moment, and tension in mooring lines.PFT models give more satisfactory results of heave but more significant discrepan-cies in tower base bending moment than the ME models. In irregular wave analyses,low-frequency resonances were captured by PFT models with second-order difference-frequency terms, and high-frequency resonances were captured by the ME models or PFT models with second-order sum-frequency terms. These force models capture the response frequencies but do not reasonably predict the response amplitudes. The coupled wind/waves analyses showed more satisfactory results than the wave-only analyses. However,an important detail to note is that this satisfactory result is based on the overprediction of wind-induced responses.

文摘An integrated structural strength analysis method for a Spar type floating wind turbine is proposed in this paper, and technical issues related to turbine structure modeling and stress combination are also addressed. The NREL-5MW "Hywind" Spar type wind turbine is adopted as study object.Time-domain dynamic coupled simulations are performed by a fully-coupled aero-hydro-servo-elastic tool,FAST,on the purpose of obtaining the dynamic characteristics of the floating wind turbine, and determining parameters for design load cases of finite element calculation. Then design load cases are identified, and finite element analyses are performed for these design load cases. The structural stresses due to wave-induced loads and wind-induced loads are calculated, and then combined to assess the structural strength of the floating wind turbine. The feasibility of the proposed structural strength analysis method for floating wind turbines is then validated.

文摘To address the problem of poor wave resistance of existing offshore floating wind turbines,a new type of semisubmersible platform with truncated-cone-type upper pontoons is proposed by combining the characteristics of offshore wind turbine semi-submersible floating platforms.Based on the coupled hydrodynamic, aerodynamic, and mooring force physical fields of FAST,the surge, heave, pitch, and yaw motions responses of the floating wind turbine under different wave heights and periods are obtained, and the mooring line tension responses are also obtained;and compare the dynamic response of the new semi-submersible platform with the OC4-DeepCwind platformat six degrees of freedom. The results show that different wave conditions have obvious effects on the heave and pitch motions of the new floating wind turbine, and fewer effects on the surge and yaw motions;the tensegrity response of the mooring system is more affected by the wave conditions;compared with the OC4-DeepCwind floating wind turbine, the pitch and roll response of the new floating wind turbine has been significantly reduced and has good stability.
文摘The offshore renewable energy industry has been developing farms of floating offshore wind turbines in water depths up to 100 m.In Vietnam, floating offshore wind turbines have been developed to increase the production of clean and sustainable energy. The mooring system, which is used to keep the turbine stable and ensure the safety and economic efficiency of wind power production,is an important part of a floating offshore wind turbine.Appropriate selection of the mooring type and mooring line material can reduce the risks arising from the motion of wind turbines.Different types of mooring line material have been simulated and compared in order to determine the optimal type with the minimum motion risk for a floating wind turbine. This study focused on numerical modeling of semi-taut mooring systems using nonlinear materials for a semi-submersible wind turbine.Several modeling approaches common to current practice were applied.Hydrodynamic analysis was performed to investigate the motion of the response amplitude operators of the floating wind turbine.Dynamic analysis of mooring systems was performed using a time domain to obtain the tension responses of mooring lines under the ultimate limit states and fatigue limit states in Vietnamese sea conditions. The results showed that the use of nonlinear materials(polyester and/or nylon)for mooring systems can minimize the movement of the turbine and save costs. The use of synthetic fibers can reduce the maximum tension in mooring lines and the length of mooring lines. However, synthetic fiber ropes showed highly nonlinear load elongation properties, which were difficult to simulate using numerical software. The comparison of the characteristics of polyester and nylon mooring lines showed that the maximum and mean tensions of the nylon line were less than those of the polyester line.In addition, the un-stretched length of the polyester line was greater than that of the nylon line under the same mean tension load. Therefore, nylon material is recommended for the mooring lines of a floating offshore wind turbine.
文摘In this paper, a modified sliding-mode adaptive controller is derived to achieve stability and output regulation for a class of dynamical systems represented by a non-homogeneous differential equation with unknown time-varying coefficients and unknown force function. Numerical simulations are performed to demonstrate the validity of the designed controller to achieve the desired pitch angle for the floating turbine's body.

文摘Cost-effective floating wind turbines with efficient installations are highly desired in deep waters(>50 m).This paper presents a submerged floating offshore wind turbines(SFOWT)concept for intermediate water depths(50-200 m).The performance of SFOWTs can be improved through a judicious choice of configuration, pretension, and mooring line layout.Four SFOWTs with different configurations and a similar mass, named Cyl-4,Cub-4,Cyl-3,and Hex-3,were designed and analyzed. The responses of the four SFOWTs were predicted under operational condition and extreme condition. The results show that the four SFOWTs exhibited good performance under both conditions. The effect of platform configurations on power output was negligible under the operational condition.Under the extreme condition, among the four SFOWTs,the mean bending moments at the tower base were very close, while the maximum values differed by up to 21.5%,due to the configurations. The effect of wind-wave misalignment under the extreme condition was further analyzed. In general, the motion performances of the four-pontoon SFOWTs,Cyl-4 and Cub-4,were superior to those of the three-pontoon SFOWTs,Cyl-3 and Hex-3.Optimization studies of the mooring system were carried out on Cub-4 with different mooring line pretensions and four mooring layouts. The optimized Cub-4 could reduce the maximum motion responses in the surge, heave, and yaw by 97.7%,91.5%,and 98.7%,respectively.

文摘Wave impact under extreme sea conditions poses significant risks to offshore structures, such as the pontoons of floating wind turbines.Monitoring the structures and inverting the impact loads are crucial for structural safety design. In this study,an indirect approach is proposed for the localization and reconstruction of waves impacting flat plates, curved plates and floating wind turbine pontoons. For impact load localization, the correlation dimension method and the long short-term memory(LSTM)neural network method are employed. The correlation dimension method achieves accurate localization results only for flat plates, whereas the LSTM method shows good performance for all structures. For load time history reconstruction, the Tikhonov regularization method is applied.Reconstruction is achieved with very high accuracy. This work can provide guidelines for inverse estimation of environmental loads acting on offshore structures.

文摘Since the development of floating wind turbine(FWT)shows a rapid trend towards larger capacity and larger rotor size, the traditional full-model basin test method has encountered limits.Especially the bal-ance between the wind generation system(WGS)size and scale ratio of the model FWT system.Under such circumstances, the hybrid model test method provides the possibility to improve the FWT model test.In the hybrid model test method, the original physical model system is divided into physical subsys-tem and numerical subsystem, and the data acquisition and process module between the 2 subsystems plays an important role.In this paper,a framework of real-time hybrid test(RTHT)system is setup firstly, which combines physical model wind turbine and motion platform. The damping modification to the cor-responding numerical code is applied to improve the motion calculation accuracy.Delay implementation is employed to avoid motion divergence. Then a simulation loop is setup in numerical environment to study the identification of aerodynamic load. The influence of identification accuracy to the RTHT result is analyzed.Lastly, the dual-accelerometer method of aerodynamic load identification is employed in the proposed RTHT system.Decay tests and irregular wave only tests are carried out to validate the aero-dynamic load identification method. The capability and potential of the RTHT method of floating wind turbine model test is preliminary proved in the work of this paper.
