The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of accessory retention forms on the bond strength of RBFPDs. Three types of 3D finite element models were constructed. The model of posterior metal plate RBFPD with spoon-shaped occlusal rest seats served as the control. The remaining two types of models based on the control added the retention form design of the pin hole and axial groove respectively. The axial or buccolingual load of 150 N was applied on the prosthesis, first premolar and first molar respectively. The maximum principal stresses of the adhesive layer in different models were calculated. Under the load of the same magnitude, the stress due to the buccolingual load was significantly higher than that due to the axial load in the adhesive layer. The proximal shoulder, occlusal rest seats wall and the proximal margin adjacent to the shoulder were the high risk region where the adhesive layer damaged easily. Compared with the control model, the pin and groove models could slightly decrease the stress in the adhesive layer after the axial loading, while the stress in the adhesive layer drastically decreased after horizontal loading and reduced by 22% and 31% respectively. These results indicate that the horizontal occlusal force has a more serious harm to the debonding of RBFPDs. In addition, the accessory retention forms(e.g. pin and axial groove retention forms) can decrease the stress level in the adhesive layer, which are conducive to increase the load-bearing capacity of RBFPDs.展开更多

The cap- illary interaction model is used within the Young-Laplace framework. With the profile of the meridian of the liquid bridge, the capillary suction, and the liquid volume as state variables, the governing equations with two-fixed-point boundary axe first derived using a variable substitution technique, in which the gravity effects are neglected. The capillary suction and geometry of the liquid bridge with a fixed volume are solved with a shooting method. In modeling the capillary force, the Gorge method is applied. The effects of var- ious parameters including the distance between two particles, the ratio of particle radii, and the liquid-solid contact angles are discussed.展开更多

A new frequency allocation scheme is proposed to increase cell capacity and improve signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) of users located at cell edges. By dividing cell into different parts and configuring each of these parts with a unique reuse factor, this scheme improves spectral utilization efficiency and avoids inter-cell interference effectively. Optimal combinations of reuse factors and locations of relay nodes are also addressed and investigated. Computer simulation results show that, by employing the proposed scheme, maximum cell capacity gains of about 50%, 35% and 30% can be achieved in comparison with conventional cellular network scheme, traditional reuse partitioning scheme and reuse-adjacent-cell-frequencies scheme, respectively. Moreover, since in the proposed scheme resources are dynamically allocated among relay nodes, more benefits can be obtained in comparison with fixed resource allocation schemes under non-uniform traffic distribution.展开更多

Two sampling methods for PM, total filtration (TF) and electrical low-pressure impactor (ELPI), were used together. The study is focused on the influence of fuel mass fraction, and of secondary air to total air; SA:TA on EFs of PM. The results have shown that EFs of PM in mass-basis given by TF method are 8.9, 5.3 and 8.1 mg/kgfuel, while 3.3, 2.7 and 3.3 mg/kgfuel when using ELPI, for firing at constant SA:TA (30%) of lignite, rice husk and bagasse, respectively. For co-firing with 30%SA of coal/rice husk, higher EFs of PM is observed. They are 7.17 and 10.9 mg/kgfuel (TF) for 40 and 70% rice husk share, respectively, or 4.18 and 5.19 mg/kgfuel (ELPI). However, lower PM emission; 1-3.3 mg/kgruel (TF) or 0.72-2.83 mg/kgfuel (ELPI) are obtained during co-firing of coal/rice husk with lower degree of air staging (i.e. 0-10% SA:TA). For the influence of oxygenation state, increasing of SA: TA leads to a low formation of ultrafine particles (Dp 〈 0.1 μm). Apart from PM, major gases (CO, NO, SO2) will be documented in this paper.展开更多

In addition, the accessory retention forms(e.g. pin and axial groove retention forms) can decrease the stress level in the adhesive layer, which are conducive to increase the load-bearing capacity of RBFPDs.
