When the flux-weakening current is lower than-ψ...In electrolytic capacitorless permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM) drives, the DC-link voltage will fluctuate in a wide range due to the use of slim film capacitor. When the flux-weakening current is lower than-ψf/Ld during the high speed operation, the flux-weakening control loop will transform to a positive feedback mode, which means the reduction of flux-weakening current will lead to the acceleration of the voltage saturation, thus the whole system will be unstable. In order to solve this issue, this paper proposes a novel flux-weakening method for electrolytic capacitorless motor drives to maintain a negative feedback characteristic of the control loop during high speed operation. Based on the analysis of the instability mechanism in flux-weakening region, a quadrature voltage constrain mechanism is constructed to stabilize the system.Meanwhile, the parameters of the controller are theoretically designed for easier industrial application. The proposed algorithm is implemented on a 1.5 kW electrolytic capacitorless PMSM drive to verify the effectiveness of the flux-weakening performance.展开更多

This paper compares the torque characteristics of single stator permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM)and double-stator PMSM under different split-ratios,air-gap lengths and shaft diameters by finite element method....This paper compares the torque characteristics of single stator permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM)and double-stator PMSM under different split-ratios,air-gap lengths and shaft diameters by finite element method.Firstly,the effects of split-ratio towards the torque characteristics of the two motor structures under different air-gap lengths are researched,the results show that the optimal split-ratios of the two motor structures do not change under different air-gap lengths,and the optimal split-ratio of the double-stator motor is greater than that of single-stator,and the torque of the double-stator motor is greater than that of single-stator motor with arbitrary split-ratio under the same air-gap length;Finally,the effects of the shaft diameter to the torque of the two motor structures are investigated,obtaining that with the increasing of shaft diameter,the electromagnetic torque of the single-stator motor is almost unchanged,however,the torque of the double-stator is gradually reduced,when the shaft diameter reached a certain extent,the electromagnetic torque of the double-stator motor is smaller than that of single-stator motor with the split ratio within a certain range,and the torque/quality ratio of the double-stator motor is smaller than that of single-stator motor with their optimal split ratio separately.展开更多
Motor drives form an essential part of the electric compressors,pumps,braking and actuation systems in the More-Electric Aircraft(MEA).In this paper,the application of Machine Learning(ML)in motor-drive design and opt...Motor drives form an essential part of the electric compressors,pumps,braking and actuation systems in the More-Electric Aircraft(MEA).In this paper,the application of Machine Learning(ML)in motor-drive design and optimization process is investigated.The general idea of using ML is to train surrogate models for the optimization.This training process is based on sample data collected from detailed simulation or experiment of motor drives.However,the Surrogate Role(SR)of ML may vary for different applications.This paper first introduces the principles of ML and then proposes two SRs(direct mapping approach and correction approach)of the ML in a motor-drive optimization process.Two different cases are given for the method comparison and validation of ML SRs.The first case is using the sample data from experiments to train the ML surrogate models.For the second case,the joint-simulation data is utilized for a multi-objective motor-drive optimization problem.It is found that both surrogate roles of ML can provide a good mapping model for the cases and in the second case,three feasible design schemes of ML are proposed and validated for the two SRs.Regarding the time consumption in optimizaiton,the proposed ML models can give one motor-drive design point up to 0.044 s while it takes more than 1.5 mins for the used simulation-based models.展开更多
