For air-to-air missiles, the terminal guidance’s preci-sion is directly contingent upon the tracking capabilities of the roll-pitch seeker. This paper presents a combined non-singular fast terminal sliding mode control method, aimed at resolving the frame control problem of roll-pitch seeker tracking high maneu-vering target. The sliding mode surface is structured around the principle of segmentation, which enables the control system’s rapid attainment of the zero point and ensure global fast conver-gence. The system’s state is more swiftly converged to the slid-ing mode surface through an improved adaptive fast dual power reaching law. Utilizing an extended state observer, the overall disturbance is both identified and compensated. The validation of the system’s stability and its convergence within a finite-time is grounded in Lyapunov’s stability criteria. The performance of the introduced control method is confirmed through roll-pitch seeker tracking control simulation. Data analysis reveals that newly proposed control technique significantly outperforms existing sliding mode control methods by rapidly converging the frame to the target angle, reduce the tracking error of the detec-tor for the target, and bolster tracking precision of the roll-pitch seeker huring disturbed conditions. 展开更多

In order to enhance the dynamic control precision of inertial stabilization platform(ISP),a disturbance sliding mode observer(DSMO)is proposed in this paper suppressing disturbance torques inherent within the system. The control accuracy of ISP is fundamentally circumscribed by various disturbance torques in rotating shaft. Therefore,a dynamic model of ISP incorporating composite perturbations is established with regard to the stabilization of axis in the inertial reference frame.Subsequently,an online estimator for control loop uncertainties based on the sliding mode control algorithm is designed to estimate the aggregate disturbances of various parameters uncertainties and other unmodeled disturbances that cannot be accurately calibrated. Finally, the proposed DSMO is integrated into a classical proportional-integral-derivative(PID)control scheme, utilizing feedforward approach to compensate the composite disturbance in the control loop online. The effectiveness of the proposed disturbance observer is validated through simulation and hardware experimentation, demonstrating a significant improvement in the dynamic control performance and robustness of the classical PID controller extensively utilized in the field of engineering. 展开更多

It is now well known that the time-varying sliding mode control (TVSMC) is characterized by its global robustness against matched model uncertainties and disturbances. The accurate tracking problem of the mechanical system in the presence of the parametric uncertainty and external disturbance is addressed in the TVSMC framework. Firstly, an exponential TVSMC algorithm is designed and the main features are analyzed. Especially, the control parameter is obtained by solving an optimal problem. Subsequently, the global chattering problem in TVSMC is considered. To reduce the static error resulting from the continuous TVSMC algorithm, a disturbance observer based time-varying sliding mode control (DOTVSMC) algorithm is presented. The detailed design principle and the stability of the closed-loop system under the composite controller are provided. Simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. 展开更多

This work deals with the development of a decentralized optimal control algorithm, along with a robust observer, for the relative motion control of spacecraft in leader-follower based formation. An adaptive gain higher order sliding mode observer has been proposed to estimate the velocity as well as unmeasured disturbances from the noisy position measurements.A differentiator structure containing the Lipschitz constant and Lebesgue measurable control input, is utilized for obtaining the estimates. Adaptive tuning algorithms are derived based on Lyapunov stability theory, for updating the observer gains, which will give enough flexibility in the choice of initial estimates. Moreover, it may help to cope with unexpected state jerks. The trajectory tracking problem is formulated as a finite horizon optimal control problem, which is solved online. The control constraints are incorporated by using a nonquadratic performance functional. An adaptive update law has been derived for tuning the step size in the optimization algorithm, which may help to improve the convergence speed. Moreover, it is an attractive alternative to the heuristic choice of step size for diverse operating conditions. The disturbance as well as state estimates from the higher order sliding mode observer are utilized by the plant output prediction model, which will improve the overall performance of the controller. The nonlinear dynamics defined in leader fixed Euler-Hill frame has been considered for the present work and the reference trajectories are generated using Hill-Clohessy-Wiltshire equations of unperturbed motion. The simulation results based on rigorous perturbation analysis are presented to confirm the robustness of the proposed approach. 展开更多

In this paper,we investigate formation tracking control of autonomous underwater vehicles(AUVs)with model parameter uncertainties and external disturbances. The external disturbances due to the wind, waves, and ocean currents are combined with the model parameter uncertainties as a compound disturbance. Then a disturbance observer(DO)is introduced to estimate the compound disturbance, which can be achieved within a finite time independent of the initial estimation error.Based on a DO,a novel fixed-time sliding control scheme is developed,by which the follower vehicle can track the leader vehicle with all the states globally stabilized within a given settling time. The effectiveness and performance of the method are demonstrated by numerical simulations. 展开更多

This paper proposes a new global fixed-time sliding mode control strategy for the trajectory tracking control of uncertain robotic manipulators.First,a fixed-time disturbance observer(FTDO) is designed to deal with the adverse effects of model uncertainties and external disturbances in the manipulator systems. Then an adaptive scheme is used and the adaptive FTDO(AFTDO) is developed,so that the priori knowledge of the lumped disturbance is not required.Further,a new non-singular fast terminal sliding mode(NFTSM) surface is designed by using an arctan function, which helps to overcome the singularity problem and enhance the robustness of the system.Based on the estimation of the lumped disturbance by the AFTDO,a fixed-time non-singular fast terminal sliding mode controller(FTNFTSMC)is developed to guarantee the trajectory tracking errors converge to zero within a fixed time. The settling time is independent of the initial state of the system. In addition, the stability of the AFTDO and FTNFTSMC is strictly proved by using Lyapunov method. Finally, the fixed-time NFESM(FTNFTSM) algorithm is validated on a 2-link manipulator and comparisons with other existing sliding mode controllers(SMCs) are performed. The comparative results confirm that the FTNFTSMC has superior control performance. 展开更多

In this paper, a continuous sliding mode controller with disturbance observer is proposed for the tracking control of hypersonic vehicles to suppress the chattering. The finite time disturbance observer is involved to make that the continuous sliding mode controller has the property of disturbance rejection. Due to continuous terms replacing the discontinuous term of traditional sliding mode control, switching modes of velocity and altitude firstly arrive at small regions with respect to disturbance observation errors. Switching modes keep zero and velocity and altitude asymptotically converge to their reference commands after disturbance observation errors disappear. Simulation results have proved the proposed method can guarantee the tracking of velocity and altitude with continuous sliding mode control laws, and also has the fast convergence rate and robustness. © 2014 Chinese Association of Automation. 展开更多

This article presents a complete nonlinear controller design for a class of spin-stabilized canard-controlled projectiles.Uniformly ultimate boundedness and tracking are achieved, exploiting a heavily coupled, bounded uncertain and highly nonlinear model of longitudinal and lateral dynamics. In order to estimate unmeasurable states,an observer is proposed for an augmented multiple-input-multiple-output(MIMO) nonlinear system with an adaptive sliding mode term against the disturbances.Under the frame of a backstepping design,an adaptive sliding mode output-feedback dynamic surface control(DSC) approach is derived recursively by virtue of the estimated states. The DSC technique is adopted to overcome the problem of ‘‘explosion of complexity" and relieve the stress of the guidance loop.It is proven that all signals of the MIMO closed-loop system, including the observer and controller, are uniformly ultimately bounded, and the tracking errors converge to an arbitrarily small neighborhood of the origin.Simulation results for the observer and controller are provided to illustrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed approach. 展开更多

Aimed at the problems of large torque ripple, obvious chattering and poor estimation accuracy of back-EMFs in traditional permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM)control system with sliding mode observer(SMO),an improved control strategy for PMSM based on a fuzzy sliding mode control(FSMC)and a two-stage filter sliding mode observer(TFSMO)is proposed.Firstly,a novel reaching law(NRL)used in the speed loop based on hyperbolic sine function is studied, and fuzzy control ideal is shown to achieve the self-turning of the parameter for the reaching law, thus a fuzzy integral sliding mode controller based on the novel reaching law is designed in speed loop. Then the suppression effect upon chattering caused by the novel reaching law is analyzed strictly by discrete equation.Secondly,in order to restrain the high frequency components and measurement noise in back-EMFs,a two-stage filter structure based on a variable cut-off frequency low-pass filter(VCF-LPF)and a modified back-EMF observer(MBO)is conceived, and the rotor position is compensated reasonably. As a result,a TFSMO is designed. The stability of the proposed control strategy is proved by Lyapunov Criterion. The simulation and experiment results show that, compared with traditional SMO,the controller suggested above can obtain very nice system respond when the motor starts and is subjected to external disturbances, and effectively improve the problems about torque ripple, chattering and the estimation accuracy of back-EMF. 展开更多

This paper presents a novel observer-based controller for a class of nonlinear multi-agent robot models using the high order sliding mode consensus protocol. In many applications, demand for autonomous vehicles is growing;omnidirectional wheeled robots are suggested to meet this demand. They are flexible, fast, and autonomous, able to find the best direction and can move on an optional path at any time. Multi-agent omnidirectional wheeled robot(MOWR) systems consist of several similar or different robots and there are multiple different interactions between their agents, thus the MOWR systems have complex dynamics. Hence, designing a robust reliable controller for the nonlinear MOWR operations is considered an important obstacles in the science of the control design. A high order sliding mode is selected in this work that is a suitable technique for implementing a robust controller for nonlinear complex dynamics models. Furthermore, the proposed method ensures all signals involved in the multi-agent system(MAS) are uniformly ultimately bounded and the system is robust against the external disturbances and uncertainties. Theoretical analysis of candidate Lyapunov functions has been presented to depict the stability of the overall MAS, the convergence of observer and tracking error to zero, and the reduction of the chattering phenomena. In order to illustrate the promising performance of the methodology, the observer is applied to two nonlinear dynamic omnidirectional wheeled robots. The results display the meritorious performance of the scheme. 展开更多

The hip’s lower limb exoskeleton essential and most important function is to support human’s payload as well as to enhance and assist human’s motion. It utilizes an electro-hydraulic servo manipulator which is required to achieve precise trajectory tracking and positioning operations. Nevertheless, these tasks require precise and robust control, which is very difficult to attain due to the inherent nonlinear dynamic behavior of the electro-hydraulic system caused by flow-pressure characteristics and fluid volume control variations of the servo valve. The sliding mode controller(SMC)is a widely used nonlinear robust controller, yet uncertainties and delay in the output degrade the closed-loop system performance and cause system instability. This work proposes a robust controller scheme that counts for the output delay and the inherent parameter uncertainties. Namely,a sliding mode controller enhanced by time-delay compensating observer for a typical electro-hydraulic servo system is adapted. SMC is utilized for its robustness against servo system parameters’ uncertainty whereas a time-delay observer estimates the variable states of the controller(velocity and acceleration). The main contribution of this paper is improving on the closed loop performance of the electro hydraulic servo system and mitigating the delay time effects. Simulation results prove the robustness of this controller, which forces the position to track the desired path regardless of the changes of the amount of transport delay of the system’s states. The performance of the proposed controller is validated by repeating the simulation analysis while varying the amount of delay time. 展开更多
