The solidification microstructures and micro-segregation of a fiber reinforced Al-9 Cu alloy, containing different volume fractions of Al2O3 short fibers about 6μm diameter and made by squeeze casting have been studied. The results indicate that as volume fraction of fiber Vf. increases, the size of final grains becomes finer in the matrix. If λf 〉λ〉1, the fibers have almost no influence on the solidification behavior of the matrix, so the final grains grow coarse, where λf is the average inter-fiber spacing and A is the secondary dendrite arm spacing. While if λf/ 〈λ〈1, the growth of crystals in the matrix is affected significantly by the fibers and the grain size is reduced to the value of the inter-fiber spacing. The fibers influence the average length of a solidification volume element L of the matrix and also influence the solidification time 8, of the matrix. As a result of fibers influencing L and θl, the micro-segregation in the matrix is improved when the composite contains more fibers, although the level of the improvement is slight. The Clyne-Kurz model can be used to semi-quantitatively analyze the relationship between Vf and the volume fraction .fe of the micro-segregation eutectic structure. 展开更多

The effects of fiber volume fraction on damping properties of carbon fiber three-dimensional and five-directional( 3D-5Dir)braided carbon fiber / epoxyres in composite cantilever beams were studied by experimental modal analysis method. Meanwhile,carbon fiber plain woven laminated / epoxy resin composites with different fiber volume fraction were concerned for comparison. The experimental result of braided specimens shows that the first three orders of natural frequency increase and the first three orders of the damping ratios of specimens decrease, when the fiber volume fraction increases. Furthermore,larger fiber volume fraction will be valuable for the better anti-exiting property of braided composites,and get an opposite effect on dissipation of vibration energy. The fiber volume fraction is an important factor for vibration performance design of braided composites. The comparison between the braided specimens and laminated specimens reveals that 3D braided composites have a wider range of damping properties than laminated composites with the same fiber volume fractions. 展开更多

The longitudinal tensile properties of SiCf/Ti-6Al-4V composites with different fiber volume fractions were simulated by the Monte Carlo 2-D finite element model. The random distribution of fiber strength was expressed by the two-parameter Weibull function. Meanwhile, contact elements and birth-death elements were used to describe the interfacial sliding process after debonding and fiber breakage(or matrix cracking) respectively, which was realized by subroutine complied in ANSYS-APDL(ANSYS Parametric Design Language). The experimental results show that the yield stress and ultimate tensile strength of SiCf/Ti-6Al-4V composites increase with increasing fiber volume fraction, while the corresponding strain of them is just on the contrary. In addition, almost the same failure mode is obtained in SiCf/Ti-6Al-4V composites with various fiber volume fractions when the interfacial shear strength is fixed. Finally, the tensile strength predicted by finite element analysis is compared with that predicted by Global load-sharing model, Local load-sharing model and conventional rule of mixtures, thus drawing the conclusion that Local load-sharing model is very perfect for the prediction of the ultimate tensile strength. 展开更多

This article is concerned with the effect of rotation on the general model of the equations of the generalized thermoe- lasticity for a homogeneous isotropic elastic half-space solid, whose surface is subjected to a Mode-I crack problem. The fractional order theory of thermoelasticity is used to obtain the analytical solutions for displacement components, force stresses, and temperature. The boundary of the crack is subjected to a prescribed stress distribution and temperature. The normal mode analysis technique is used to solve the resulting non-dimensional coupled governing equations of the problem. The variations of the considered variables with the horizontal distance are illustrated graphically. Some particular cases are also discussed in the context of the problem. Effects of the fractional parameter, reinforcement, and rotation on the varia- tions of different field quantities inside the elastic medium are analyzed graphically. Comparisons are made between the results in the presence and those in the absence of fiber-reinforcing, rotating and fractional parameters. 展开更多

Pulp fiber length characterization is addressed in this article. It is suggested that the proposed separation index H(L) is a viable index to the fiber fractionation performance for evaluating hydrocyclones. Fractionation of softwood (coniferous wood) bleached chemithermomechanical pulp (BCTMP) fiber was carried out with a cylin- drical hydrocyclone. Pulp fiber length characteristics in different streams were examined using the fiber quality analyzer (FQA), and the cumulative fiber length fraction, the fiber length fraction density function and the separa- tion index H(L) for different streams were obtained. It is found that H(L) is very useful for characterizing the fiber fractionation performance by indicating the separation capacity of hydrocyclone for individual subgroup of fibers in different streams under different operation conditions. Results of H(L) show that there exists a critical fiber length. A higher proportion of fibers longer than the critical fiber length is in the overflow stream, and a higher proportion of fibers shorter than the critical fiber length in the underflow stream. The data obtained from FQA suggest that the split ratio is the most significant parameter for fiber fractionation performance, which is the best when the split ratio is in the range between 0.14 and 0.2. The effect of feed rate on fiber fractionation performance is weak. 展开更多

This paper studied the preparation and mechanical properties of glass fiber reinforced polymer-matrix composite rings prepared by filament winding assisted by ultraviolet(UV)curing.A ray-tracing method was used to calculate the penetration ability of UV light in the resin casting,and then a typical composite ring with dual⁃curing characteristics was prepared by UV-assisted curing.The effects of winding speed and thermal initiator concentration on the distribution of fiber fraction and mechanical properties were studied.Microscopic morphology was used for the observation of the differences in fiber volume fraction.Mechanical properties tests and scanning electron micrographs were performed to investigate the failure and damage mechanisms of the composite ring samples.The ray tracing results indicate that the UV light can pass through a single yarn thickness and the energy transmitted is sufficient to cure the back side quickly.The experimental results show that the mechanical properties of the composite ring prepared in this paper are comparable to those of the heat-cured samples,which is sufficient to meet the requirements of the flywheel. 展开更多

Resin Matrix Shear Band and Its Special Effect on Stress Concentration of Fiber Composites

A constitutive model is constructed to consider the resin matrix post-yield softening and progressive hardening behaviors. A user-defined material mechanical behavior (UMAT) subroutine is created, then the non-linear three-dimensional finite element analysis on the tensile processes of multi-fiber composites is conducted. The approximate 45° shear bands emanating from the matrix crack tip are found, being coincided with the experimental observations. The shear stress on the adjacent intact fiber/matrix interface is strongly influenced by the shear band and thus the stress concentration factor (SCF) changes obviously in the adjacent fibers. The distinct stress redistribution in the adjacent intact fibers implies the significant effect of the shear bands on the progressive fiber fracture initiation. As the inter-fiber spacing increases, the peak value of the SCF in the adjacent intact fiber decreases, whereas the overload zone becomes wider. The research has provided a helpful tool to evaluate the failure of fiber composites and optimize the composite performance through the proper selection of resin matrix properties and fiber volume fraction. 展开更多

本文以橡胶颗粒等体积替代砂率(0%~20%)和钢纤维体积掺量(0vol%~1.5vol%)为变量制备150个试件,分别进行立方体及轴心抗压试验、劈裂抗拉试验、弯曲抗折试验、双面剪切试验及扫描电子显微镜(SEM)观测,研究橡胶颗粒和钢纤维的掺入对钢纤... 本文以橡胶颗粒等体积替代砂率(0%~20%)和钢纤维体积掺量(0vol%~1.5vol%)为变量制备150个试件,分别进行立方体及轴心抗压试验、劈裂抗拉试验、弯曲抗折试验、双面剪切试验及扫描电子显微镜(SEM)观测,研究橡胶颗粒和钢纤维的掺入对钢纤维橡胶混凝土力学性能及微观结构影响。结果表明:掺入橡胶颗粒和钢纤维会显著降低钢纤维橡胶混凝土的工作性能;随着橡胶掺量的增加,混凝土各项力学性能指标均呈明显下降趋势;与橡胶混凝土不同,钢纤维橡胶混凝土各项力学性能的破坏模式均呈延性破坏,且随着钢纤维掺量的增加,混凝土各项强度指标均有不同程度的增加,其中抗剪强度增幅最为明显,橡胶掺量10%混凝土中掺入1.5vol%掺量钢纤维后,抗剪强度增幅可达78%。根据试验结果并综合考虑橡胶和钢纤维的影响,提出了钢纤维橡胶混凝土基本强度指标的计算公式及其相互之间关系。 展开更多

Beans are rich in dietary fiber and polyphenols;however, growing conditions may affect the occurrence of these components. The effect of irrigation and rain fed conditions on dietary fiber, indigestible fraction, polyphenols and antioxidant capacity of Black 8025 and Pinto Durango bean cultivars grown in Mexico have been determined. Total dietary fiber decreased in beans grown under rain fed conditions compared to those grown under irrigation. The water regimes had an effect on the total indigestible fraction for Black 8025 bean. The extractable polyphenols were affected by the water regimes, while the antioxidant capacity of extractable and non-extractable polyphenols was dependent on the bean variety. Cooking the beans altered the extractable and non-extractable polyphenols and the antioxidant capacity. Also, the antioxidant properties and some extend, the digestibility of non-digestible carbohydrates of beans were affected by water regimes. This information could be taken into account for dry bean breeding programs to improve the nutritional quality of beans. 展开更多

为研究束状玄武岩纤维(Bundled basalt fiber,BBF)增强混凝土的力学性能,对不同纤维长度(12 mm、18 mm、24 mm)、体积掺量(0.1vol%、0.2vol%、0.3vol%)和类型(束状玄武岩、短切玄武岩和聚丙烯)的纤维增强混凝土进行立方体抗压、劈裂抗... 为研究束状玄武岩纤维(Bundled basalt fiber,BBF)增强混凝土的力学性能,对不同纤维长度(12 mm、18 mm、24 mm)、体积掺量(0.1vol%、0.2vol%、0.3vol%)和类型(束状玄武岩、短切玄武岩和聚丙烯)的纤维增强混凝土进行立方体抗压、劈裂抗拉和断裂韧性试验,并通过扫描电镜观察了其微观结构。结果表明:BBF对混凝土抗压强度提升效果不明显;而对劈裂抗拉强度增强效果显著,在纤维长度为24 mm,体积掺量为0.2vol%时,抗拉强度最大提高幅度为26.65%;随纤维增强指数(Reinforcement index,RI)增加,BBF混凝土拉压比呈升高趋势,且RI为24时,拉压比为普通混凝土(Normal concrete,NC)的1.39倍;BBF的掺入显著提升了混凝土三点弯曲峰值荷载、起裂韧度及失稳韧度,且当掺量为0.3vol%,纤维长度为12 mm时,三者较NC最大提升幅度分别为53.66%、47.06%及151.03%。电镜扫描显示BBF表面附着大量水化产物,与水泥浆体粘结紧密且与基体间无明显界面过渡区,有效抑制了微裂缝扩展连通。 展开更多

Stochastic noises of fiber optic gyroscope (FOG) mainly contain white noise and fractal noise whose long-term dependent component causes FOG a rather slow drift. In order to eliminate this component, a two-step filtering methodology is proposed. Firstly, fractional differencing (FD) method is introduced to trans-form fractal noise into fractional white noise based on the estima-tion of Hurst exponent for long-term dependent fractal process, which together with the existing white noise make up of a gener-alized white noise. Further, an improved denoising algorithm of wavelet maxima is developed to suppress the generalized white noise. Experimental results show that the basic noise terms of FOG greatly decrease, and especially the slow drift is restrained effectively. The proposed methodology provides a promising ap-proach for filtering long-term dependent fractal noise. 展开更多

The influence of volume fraction on damping capacities at room temperature for amorphous carbon fiber reinforced aluminum matrix composites was investigated.At room temperature,the dislocation damping is the primary damping mechanism.Meanwhile,the dislocation damping exhibits dynamic hysteresis at low strain amplitudes and static hysteresis at high strain amplitudes.Moreover,the damping capacity is rather sensitive to the volume fraction.Compared to unreinforced aluminum alloy,the additions of amorphous carbon fibers into the aluminum matrix can improve damping capacity below the volume fraction of 30%,whereas worsen above the volume fraction of 40%. 展开更多

为研究极端低温作用下结构尺寸和纤维体积分数对玄武岩纤维混凝土劈拉强度的定量影响规律和作用机制,设计了4种尺寸(边长分别为70、100、150和200 mm)、4种纤维体积分数(分数范围0%~0.5%)的玄武岩纤维混凝土立方体试块在常温和低温下(... 为研究极端低温作用下结构尺寸和纤维体积分数对玄武岩纤维混凝土劈拉强度的定量影响规律和作用机制,设计了4种尺寸(边长分别为70、100、150和200 mm)、4种纤维体积分数(分数范围0%~0.5%)的玄武岩纤维混凝土立方体试块在常温和低温下(温度范围20~-90℃)进行了静态劈拉破坏试验。试验结果表明:不同类型混凝土的劈拉强度均随温度降低而线性增大(最大增幅接近130%),呈现出显著的低温增强效应;玄武岩纤维的掺入能略微强化混凝土劈拉强度的低温增强效应。不同纤维体积分数玄武岩纤维混凝土的劈拉强度均呈现出一定的纤维增强效应,并且随体积分数增加而增强;极端低温作用下玄武岩纤维的主导破坏模式由拔出破坏转变为拉断破坏,导致纤维增强效应随温度下降而变强。劈拉强度的尺寸效应随温度下降而更明显,但玄武岩纤维的掺入能减弱尺寸效应(最大削弱程度达25.8%)。本文研究能为玄武岩纤维混凝土材料在极端低温环境下的大规模工程结构应用提供有效参考。 展开更多

为了真实反映整体穿刺碳纤维毡的压缩特性,构建了穿刺碳纤维毡压实模型,采用有限元方法预测压缩载荷与压实高度的非线性映射关系。首先,考虑碳纤维毡内部纤维分布的随机性,提出了碳纤维毡微观结构参数化建模方法,并定义了纤维取向、方... 为了真实反映整体穿刺碳纤维毡的压缩特性,构建了穿刺碳纤维毡压实模型,采用有限元方法预测压缩载荷与压实高度的非线性映射关系。首先,考虑碳纤维毡内部纤维分布的随机性,提出了碳纤维毡微观结构参数化建模方法,并定义了纤维取向、方位角和长度等几何参数,在ABAQUS平台上利用Python程序设计语言构建了碳纤维毡细观几何模型。其次,采用Abaqus/Explicit算法对穿刺碳纤维毡压实过程进行有限元仿真,分析了预制体在压实过程中不同阶段的结构变化。最后,通过压实试验获得了预制体压实高度与压缩载荷之间的曲线关系。试验结果表明,数值仿真的预制体结构形态变化和压缩载荷–位移曲线关系均与试验结果吻合较好,两者之间最大误差小于5.5%,验证了穿刺碳纤维毡压实模型的正确性。 展开更多

纤维含量对轴向导波频散特征影响的数值分析

为了检查纤维树脂复合材料管件结构完整性,基于线性三维弹性理论,采用Legendre正交多项式方法在本构方程中添加径向矩形窗函数自动满足应力自由边界条件,推导了横观各向同性圆管中的轴向导波频散方程;应用各向同性圆管材料参数进行了计... 为了检查纤维树脂复合材料管件结构完整性,基于线性三维弹性理论,采用Legendre正交多项式方法在本构方程中添加径向矩形窗函数自动满足应力自由边界条件,推导了横观各向同性圆管中的轴向导波频散方程;应用各向同性圆管材料参数进行了计算,运算结果与商业软件Disperse输出的相速度频散曲线进行了比对,验证了该方法的稳健性。结合细观力学理论,分析了横观各向同性圆管中典型弹性常数随纤维体积含量从0%增加到100%的变化趋势。纤维含量为17%的L(0,2)模态最小相速度为1245 m/s,纤维含量21%的T(0,1)模态最小的相速度是1227.27 m/s,发现弹性常数C_(66)较其他参数更大程度影响着纵向模态L(0,2)的频散特征;在纤维含量较低的区间,C_(44)对扭转模态T(0,1)影响较大;同时,纤维含量越高,频散现象越严重。研究结果有助于对机器人复合材料管件结构进行结构强度评估和无损探伤。 展开更多

【目的】竹材因其自身结构差异(如非对称性弯曲行为),在相同工艺条件下制备的弯曲构件品质不稳定。本研究旨在探索不同部位竹条在不同弯曲模式下的成型规律,以提高竹条弯曲构件制备的可控性,并为其工艺优化提供科学依据。【方法】采用... 【目的】竹材因其自身结构差异(如非对称性弯曲行为),在相同工艺条件下制备的弯曲构件品质不稳定。本研究旨在探索不同部位竹条在不同弯曲模式下的成型规律,以提高竹条弯曲构件制备的可控性,并为其工艺优化提供科学依据。【方法】采用一体式弯曲成型工艺,研究竹青侧受压(TypeⅠ)和竹黄侧受压(TypeⅡ)两种弯曲模式下,竹秆不同部位(基部、中部、梢部)竹条的弯曲性能以及弯曲构件的弯曲合格率、最小弯曲半径范围和弯曲稳定性。【结果】竹秆中部竹条的纤维体积分数最高,基部次之,梢部最低,且竹条的弯曲性能与纤维体积分数呈正相关。在相同部位,TypeⅠ模式下竹条的弯曲强度和模量高于TypeⅡ模式,但TypeⅡ模式下竹条的弯曲韧性更高。TypeⅡ模式更易于成功制备弯曲构件,并可实现更小的弯曲半径。相比基部与梢部,中部竹条制备的弯曲构件的弯曲合格率更高,中部竹条在TypeⅡ模式下的最小弯曲半径(R)范围为30 mm<R≤60 mm。弯曲构件的弯曲稳定性与竹条的纤维体积分数呈负相关,具有最高纤维体积分数的中部竹条弯曲构件回弹角最大。【结论】竹秆不同部位的竹条在径向弯曲载荷作用下表现出显著的非对称性弯曲行为。在制备竹条弯曲构件时,可根据所需弯曲程度选择合适的竹秆部位和弯曲模式。使用中部竹条并采用TypeⅡ模式,能够有效提高弯曲构件的合格率和性能稳定性,尤其适用于制备弯曲程度较高的构件。 展开更多

为了考察纤维体积含量对玻璃纤维平纹编织复合材料拉伸性能地影响,参考ASTM D3039标准制作了不同纤维体积含量的玻璃纤维平纹编织复合材料试件开展拉伸试验,并建立了平纹编织的细观结构模型,基于三维Hashin失效准则和线性刚度折减策略... 为了考察纤维体积含量对玻璃纤维平纹编织复合材料拉伸性能地影响,参考ASTM D3039标准制作了不同纤维体积含量的玻璃纤维平纹编织复合材料试件开展拉伸试验,并建立了平纹编织的细观结构模型,基于三维Hashin失效准则和线性刚度折减策略编写了UMAT子程序,采用ABAQUS软件对玻璃纤维平纹编织复合材料RVE模型的拉伸失效过程进行模拟。结果表明:建立的细观有限元模型能够较好地模拟拉伸试验过程,试验结果与有限元模型计算结果基本吻合;拉伸过程中,首先纤维和基体共同受力,随后基体出现损伤至刚度大幅下降,然后纤维主要受力直到试件最终破坏;渐进失效过程中,纤维束相交处的基体最先出现损伤,随后基体损伤在其周围扩展开来,最后出现纤维拉伸断裂导致最终失效;试件的拉伸破坏强度随着纤维体积含量的上升近似呈现线性上升趋势。 展开更多
