Up to present,the problem of the evaluation of fault diagnosability for nonlinear systems has been investigated by many researchers.However,no attempt has been done to evaluate the diagnosability of multiple faults occurring simultaneously for nonlinear systems.This paper proposes a method based on differential geometry theories to solve this problem.Then the evaluation of fault diagnosability for affine nonlinear systems with multiple faults occurring simultaneously is achieved.To deal with the effect of control laws on the evaluation results of fault diagnosability,a design scheme of the evaluation of fault diagnosability is proposed.Then the influence of uncertainties on the evaluation results of fault diagnosability for affine nonlinear systems with multiple faults occurring simultaneously is analyzed.The numerical simulation results are obtained to show the effectiveness of the proposed evaluation scheme of fault diagnosability. 展开更多

Development of an E-maintenance System for a CNC System

In this paper, a new arch... Globalization and rapid growth of network technologies have changed the traditional patterns of device maintenance. E-maintenance has emerged and is widely used in many manufacturing systems. In this paper, a new architecture of an E-maintenance system is proposed, which consists of E-maintenance centre, embedded CNC gateway and CNC terminal. The E-maintenance centre provides the technical support and service for customers based on Internet and communication technologies. The embedded CNC gateway serves as an agent between the public and plant device network, and provides web-based access for the CNC system. A reconfigurable CNC terminal is highly desired in a signal measuring and analysing system, which is built on the top of component and software bus based models. Finally, the E-maintenance system for the CNC machine is implemented and the experiments show that the architecture of an E-maintenance system can effectively reduce the downtime of devices, the responding time of maintenance work, and increase both the quality and the productivity of enterprises. 展开更多

An enhanced multi-sensor calibration method for heating,ventilation,and air conditioning systems without prior knowledge of fault types

The virtual in-situ calibration method has been effective in calibrating multiple sensors in HVAC systems when the fault types are known.However,due to the high cost of physical calibration and the strict data accuracy requirements of data-driven methods,obtaining benchmarks for sensors during actual operation is challenging,making it difficult to diagnose the specific fault types of the sensors.To address this issue,an enhanced multi-sensor calibration(EMC)method has been developed to operate without prior knowledge of fault types.The primary soft faults encountered—bias and drift deviations—differ in whether they vary over time.The proposed method employs an interval sliding approach to identify and calibrate these faults within each interval effectively.Furthermore,the influence of interval size on calibration accuracy has been systematically analyzed to optimize performance.The proposed method has been validated on a chiller plant in a large public building in Hong Kong.The experimental results indicate that,under conditions involving eight sensor faults,including even three drift deviations,the EMC method achieved average calibration accurate rates of 100%for bias faults and 95%for drift faults.Notably,in calibrating drift faults,the enhanced method outperformed the high-dimensional sensor calibration method and the Improved simulated annealing method by 87%and 34%,respectively. 展开更多
