Extracting ethanol from aqueous solutions is important but challenging in industry.Pervaporation membranes show great promise for separating ethanol from water,with the design of their structure being crucial for enhancing performance.In this study,we developed an oriented bimetallic metal-organic framework(MOF)membrane,designated as ZIF-CoZn,for the pervaporation separation of ethanol from water.During crystal growth,bimetallic salts provide specific nucleation sites,and the competitive coordination between Co and Zn ions shifts the energetically favorable(100)plane to the(211)plane.This orientation enables precise molecular-level control over hydrophobic ligand arrangement,effectively repelling water molecules.Meanwhile,bimetallic competition enlarges pore sizes,facilitating ethanol permeation.When compared to single-metal MOF membranes made of cobalt or zinc,the separation factor of the ZIF-CoZn membrane for ethanol/water mixtures increased by 127%and 160%,respectively.Benefiting from the high roughness and increased exposure of hydrophobic ligands due to the preferential(211)orientation,ZIF-CoZn exhibits superhydrophobicity after vinyl-polydimethylsiloxane coating.The oriented ZIF-CoZn membrane was also scaled up to an area of 1 m^(2).This work provides valuable insights into optimizing MOF membrane structure and lays the foundation for its promotion and application in the industry. 展开更多

Accurately simulating water flow movement in vadose zone is crucial for effective water resources assessment.Richards'equation,which describes the movement of water flow in the vadose zone,is highly nonlinear and challenging to solve.Existing numerical methods often face issues such as numerical dispersion,oscillation,and mass non-conservation when spatial and temporal discretization conditions are not appropriately configured.To address these problems and achieve accurate and stable numerical solutions,a finite analytic method based on water content-based Richards'equation(FAM-W)is proposed.The performance of the FAM-W is compared with analytical solutions,Finite Difference Method(FDM),and Finite Analytic Method based on the pressure Head-based Richards'equation(FAM-H).Compared to analytical solution and other numerical methods(FDM and FAM-H),FAM-W demonstrates superior accuracy and efficiency in controlling mass balance errors,regardless of spatial step sizes.This study introduces a novel approach for modelling water flow in the vadose zone,offering significant benefits for water resources management. 展开更多

Fusion method for water depth data from multiple sources based on image recognition

Considering the difficulty of integrating the depth points of nautical charts of the East China Sea into a global high-precision Grid Digital Elevation Model(Grid-DEM),we proposed a“Fusion based on Image Recognition(FIR)”method for multi-sourced depth data fusion,and used it to merge the electronic nautical chart dataset(referred to as Chart2014 in this paper)with the global digital elevation dataset(referred to as Globalbath2002 in this paper).Compared to the traditional fusion of two datasets by direct combination and interpolation,the new Grid-DEM formed by FIR can better represent the data characteristics of Chart2014,reduce the calculation difficulty,and be more intuitive,and,the choice of different interpolation methods in FIR and the influence of the“exclusion radius R”parameter were discussed.FIR avoids complex calculations of spatial distances among points from different sources,and instead uses spatial exclusion map to perform one-step screening based on the exclusion radius R,which greatly improved the fusion status of a reliable dataset.The fusion results of different experiments were analyzed statistically with root mean square error and mean relative error,showing that the interpolation methods based on Delaunay triangulation are more suitable for the fusion of nautical chart depth of China,and factors such as the point density distribution of multiple source data,accuracy,interpolation method,and various terrain conditions should be fully considered when selecting the exclusion radius R. 展开更多

Data credibility evaluation method for formation water in oil and gas fields and its influencing factors

The formation water sample in oil and gas fields may be polluted in processes of testing, trial production, collection, storage, transportation and analysis, making the properties of formation water not be reflected truly. This paper discusses identification methods and the data credibility evaluation method for formation water in oil and gas fields of petroliferous basins within China. The results of the study show that: (1) the identification methods of formation water include the basic methods of single factors such as physical characteristics, water composition characteristics, water type characteristics, and characteristic coefficients, as well as the comprehensive evaluation method of data credibility proposed on this basis, which mainly relies on the correlation analysis sodium chloride coefficient and desulfurization coefficient and combines geological background evaluation;(2) The basic identifying methods for formation water enable the preliminary identification of hydrochemical data and the preliminary screening of data on site, the proposed comprehensive method realizes the evaluation by classifying the CaCl2-type water into types A-I to A-VI and the NaHCO3-type water into types B-I to B-IV, so that researchers can make in-depth evaluation on the credibility of hydrochemical data and analysis of influencing factors;(3) When the basic methods are used to identify the formation water, the formation water containing anions such as CO_(3)^(2-), OH- and NO_(3)^(-), or the formation water with the sodium chloride coefficient and desulphurization coefficient not matching the geological setting, are all invaded with surface water or polluted by working fluid;(4) When the comprehensive method is used, the data credibility of A-I, A-II, B-I and B-II formation water can be evaluated effectively and accurately only if the geological setting analysis in respect of the factors such as formation environment, sampling conditions, condensate water, acid fluid, leaching of ancient weathering crust, and ancient atmospheric fresh water, is combined, although such formation water is believed with high credibility. 展开更多

[Objective] This study was to provide references for the evaluation of water quality in aquaculture ponds by evaluating the pond water quality using fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method based on entropy weight. [Method] The fuzzy compre- hensive evaluation method based on entropy weight was used to evaluate the water quality in the ponds with Ukraine scale carp (Cyprinus carpio) as the main cultivated fish. The average size of the fish was 71.4 g/ind, and totally three groups of pond were set with the population density of 6 000, 9 000, 12 000 ind/hm2. [Result] According to the GB3838-2002 Environmental Quality Standards for Surface Water of China, the water quality of 6 000 ind/hm2 group was Grade I, and the water quality of 9 000 and 12 000 ind/hm2 were Grade V. [Conclusion] With the increasing of feeding density, the pond water quality would worsen, however, there is no difference on water quality between 9 000 and 12 000 ind/hm2 groups. 展开更多

Considering the difficulty of fuzzy synthetic evaluation method in calculation of the multiple factors and ignorance of the relationship among evaluating objects, a new weight evaluation process using entropy method was introduced. This improved method for determination of weight of the evaluating indicators was applied in water quality assessment of the Three Gorges reservoir area. The results showed that this method was favorable for fuzzy synthetic evaluation when there were more than one evaluating objects. One calculation was enough for calculating every monitoring point. Compared with the original evaluation method, the method predigested the fuzzy synthetic evaluation process greatly and the evaluation results are more reasonable. 展开更多

For natural water, method of water quality evaluation based on improved fuzzy matter-element evaluation method is presented. Two important parts are improved, the weights determining and fuzzy membership functions. The coefficient of variation of each indicator is used to determine the weight instead of traditional calculating superscales method. On the other hand, fuzzy matter-elements are constructed, and normal membership degrees are used instead of traditional trapezoidal ones. The composite fuzzy matter-elements with associated coefficient are constructed through associated transformation. The levels of natural water quality are determined according to the principle of maximum correlation. The improved fuzzy matter-element evaluation method is applied to evaluate water quality of the Luokou mainstream estuary at the first ten weeks in 2011 with the coefficient of variatiola method determining the weights. Water quality of Luokou mainstream estuary is dropping from level I to level II. The results of the improved evaluation method are basically the same as the official water quality. The variation coefficient method can reduce the workload, and overcome the adverse effects from abnormal values, compared with the traditional calculating superscales method. The results of improved fuzzy matter- element evaluation method are more credible than the ones of the traditional evaluation method. The improved evaluation method can use information of monitoring data more scientifically and comprehensively, and broaden a new evaluation method for water quality assessment. 展开更多

Based on the regional water resources carrying capacity(WRCC)evaluation principles and evaluation index system in the National Technical Outline of Water Resources Carrying Capacity Monitoring and Early Warning(hereafter referred to as the Technical Outline),this paper elaborates on the collection and sorting of the basic data of water resources conditions,water resources development and utilization status,social and economic development in basins,analysis and examination of integrity,consistency,normativeness,and rationality of the basic data,and the necessity of WRCC evaluation.This paper also describes the technique of evaluating the WRCC in prefecture-level cities and city-level administrative divisions in the District of the Taihu Lake Basin,which is composed of the Taihu Lake Basin and the Southeastern River Basin.The evaluation process combines the binary index evaluation method and reduction index evaluation method.The former,recommended by the Technical Outline,uses the total water use and the amount of exploited groundwater as evaluation indices,showing stronger operability,while the latter is developed by simplifying and optimizing the comprehensive index system with greater systematicness and completeness.The mutual validation and adjustment of the results of the above-mentioned two evaluation methods indicate that the WRCC of the District of the Taihu Lake Basin is overloaded in general because some prefecture-level cities and city-level administrative divisions in the Taihu Lake Basin and the Southeastern River Basin are in a severely overloaded state.In order to explain this conclusion,this paper analyzes the causes of WRCC overloading from the aspects of basin water environment,water resources development and utilization,water resources regulation and control ability,water resources utilization efficiency,and water resources management. 展开更多

Absorption and Structural Property of Ethanol/Water Mixture with Carbon Nanotubes

Molecular dynamics (MD) simulations are performed to study the structure and adsorption of ethanol/water mixture within carbon nanotubes (CNTs). Inside the (6,6) and (10,10) CNTs, there are always almost full of ethanol molecules and hardly water molecules. Inside wider CNTs, there are some water molecules, while the ethanol mass fractions inside the CNTs are still much higher than the corresponding bulk values. A series of structural analysis for the molecules inside and outside the CNTs are performed, including the distributions of radial, axial, angular density, orientation, and the number of hydrogen bonds. The angular density distribution of the molecules in the first solvation shell outside the CNTs indicates that the methyl groups of ethanol molecules have the strongest interaction with the carbon wall, and are pinned to the centers of the hexagons of the CNTs. Based on the understanding of the microscopic mechanism of these phenomena, we propose that the CNTs prefer to contain ethanol rather than methanol. 展开更多

The study discussed the rapid method to test and predict the longevity of controlled release fertilizers (CRFs) coated by water soluble resin by using the short-term leaching under higher temperature. Pure water dissolving incubation and higher temperature leaching were used to study the patterns of the nutrient release of the CRFs. The correlation analysis between the days at 25℃ and the hours at 80℃ of Trincote 1 and Trincote 2 for the same cumulative release rates were conducted. Patterns of cumulative nutrient release curve followed one factor quadratic regression equation at each given temperatures, and each of relative coefficient was bigger than 0.995. As the temperature increased, nutrients release of the CRFs increased. The longevity of resin coated CRFs were predicted by use of both the cumulative nutrients release equation at 80℃ and the regression equation of release time needed for the same cumulative release rates between 25 and 80℃. There were only 0.3-6.9% relative errors between the tested longevity and predicted one. In conclusion, the longevity of resin coated CRFs could be predicted more quickly and precisely by use of the higher temperature short-term leaching method than that of the traditional differential release rate. The longevity of resin coated CRF could be rapidly and precisely predicted in a few hours by application of the higher temperature shortterm leaching method. 展开更多

Can regional economy influence China's water use intensity?:based on refined LMDI method 被引量:4

China experienced a decline of water use intensity in the 11th Five Year Plan,but the water use intensity actually increased in 2009.To the best of our knowledge,the index decomposition analysis method was rarely used to analyze changes in water use,and no decomposition analysis has investigated the role of regional economy in the decline of water use intensity.In this paper,we use logarithmic mean Divisia index(LMDI)techniques to decompose the change of water use intensity in the period 2006-2010.We find that the change of industrial water use intensity is confirmed as the dominant contributor to the decline in the overall water use intensity;the regional structure effect and the industrial structure effect is positive to the decline of overall water use intensity;the decline of China's water use intensity is mainly attributed to the effect of developed eastern provinces;meanwhile,the effect of central and undeveloped western is also positive to the decline of overall water use intensity;at least one out of three effects is positive to the decline of water use intensity in the different provinces;the intensity effect is positive and the industrial structure effect is positive to the declines of China's water use intensity based on chaining approach except the period 2008-2009,individually;and the deviation of regional structure effect and industrial structure effect between with regional economy and without regional economy in LMDI is 0.9 and2.3 m^3/10~4 RMB,respectively. 展开更多

Performances of conventional fusion methods evaluated for inland water body observation using GF-1 image 被引量:3

Satellite remote sensing of inland water body requires a high spatial resolution and a multiband narrow spectral resolution, which makes the fusion between panchromatic(PAN) and multi-spectral(MS) images particularly important. Taking the Daquekou section of the Qiantang River as an observation target, four conventional fusion methods widely accepted in satellite image processing, including pan sharpening(PS), principal component analysis(PCA), Gram-Schmidt(GS), and wavelet fusion(WF), are utilized to fuse MS and PAN images of GF-1.The results of subjective and objective evaluation methods application indicate that GS performs the best,followed by the PCA, the WF and the PS in the order of descending. The existence of a large area of the water body is a dominant factor impacting the fusion performance. Meanwhile, the ability of retaining spatial and spectral informations is an important factor affecting the fusion performance of different fusion methods. The fundamental difference of reflectivity information acquisition between water and land is the reason for the failure of conventional fusion methods for land observation such as the PS to be used in the presence of the large water body. It is suggested that the adoption of the conventional fusion methods in the observing water body as the main target should be taken with caution. The performances of the fusion methods need re-assessment when the large-scale water body is present in the remote sensing image or when the research aims for the water body observation. 展开更多

In this study, we developed a computer program for automatic prediction of watering time point by considering the environmental factors such as solar radiation, air temperature and relative humidity based on the multiple linear regression equation of leaf area and Penman Method. The experiments were carried out for a year in two watering experimental plots, one of which was controlled by pF value, and the other by the computer program. After comparing the results of the two plots, the following findings were obtained. In the computer program plot, the observed and predicted values of both leaf area and evapotranspiration indicated significant correlation at the 1% level, which suggested that the computer program had high prediction accuracy. In addition, no significant difference was observed between the two experimental plots with respects to the plant height, plant diameter, leaf area, leaf number, fresh weight, and dry weight, which demonstrated that the plants in the computer program plot had normal growth. On the other hand, although the number of flower buds and flowering shoots showed higher values at the end of certain cultivations in the computer program plot than those in pF value plot, we proposed that it was due to the effect of cumulative daily solar radiation in the greenhouse, rather than the watering. Thus, we have reached the conclusion that the computer program for automatic prediction of watering time point developed by this study has high applicability in miniature pot rose production. 展开更多

A computational method for steady water waves is presented on the basis of potential theory in the physical plane with spatial variables as independent quantities. The finite Fourier series are applied to approximating the free surface and potential function. A set of nonlinear algebraic equations for the Fourier coefficients are derived from the free surface kinetic and dynamic boundary conditions. These algebraic equations are numerically solved through Newton's iterative method, and the iterative stability is further improved by a relaxation technology. The integral properties of steady water waves are numerically analyzed, showing that (1) the set-up and the set-down are both non-monotonic quantities with the wave steepness, and (2) the Fourier spectrum of the free surface is broader than that of the potential function. The latter further leads us to explore a modification for the present method by approximating the free surface and potential function through different Fourier series, with the truncation of the former higher than that of the latter. Water soluble core has been widely used in manufacturing complex metal components with hollow configurations or internal channels;however,the soluble core can absorb water easily from the air at room temperature.To improve the humidity resistance of the water soluble core and optimize the process parameters applied in manufacturing of the water soluble core,a precipitation method and a two-level-three-full factorial central composite design were used,respectively.The properties of the cores treated by the precipitation method were compared with that without any treatment.Through a systematical study by means of both an environmental scanning electron microscope(ESEM) and an energy dispersive X-ray(EDX) analyzer,the results indicate that the hygroscopicity can be reduced by 20% and the obtained optimal process conditions for three critical control factors affecting the hygroscopicity are 0.2 g·mL-1 calcium chloride concentration,4% water concentration and 0 min ignition time.The porous surface coated by calcium chloride and the high humidity resistance products generated in the precipitation reaction between calcium chloride and potassium carbonate may contribute to the lower hygroscopicity. 展开更多

Graphyne is expected to be a new-class of highly-efficient sieving membranes due to its controllable uniform pore structure and ultrathin single-atom thickness. Herein, we computationally investigate the permeation performance of liquid ethanol–water mixtures across polyporous two-dimensional γ-graphyne sheets. It was found that, in the mixture, ethanol with larger molecular diameter permeates faster through the graphyne pores than water. The simulations demonstrate that pristine graphynes could act as highly-efficient ethanol-permselective membranes for separation of ethanol–water mixtures, with ethanol permeability remarkably higher than conventional membranes. This separation mechanism is distinctly different from the molecular-size dependent sieving process. The stronger hydrophobic interfacial affinity between graphyne and ethanol makes ethanol molecules preferentially adsorb on graphyne surface and selectively penetrate through graphyne pores. This penetration mechanism provides new understanding of molecular transport through atomically thick two-dimensional nanoporous membranes and this work is expected to be valuable in the potential development of highly-efficient membranes for liquid-phase mixture separation. 展开更多
