The study examined interpretation recordings during the second round of the 2016 ACIC, focusing on how student interpreters coped with figures. Observation results show that omission is the most common error for all students and for the four types of figures involved in the research. Most errors are made in the translation of big round numbers. Fast speed of the source speech as well as figure clusters turn out to be the most outstanding causes for errors. Such observation results are expected to provide implications for future interpreting teaching.展开更多

We modeled the Zeta converter under continuous conduction mode operation. We derived a switching control law that brings the output voltage to the desired level. Due to infinite switching occurring at the desired level, we enhanced the switching control law by allowing a sizeable output voltage ripple. We derived mathematical models that allow one to choose the desired switching frequency. In practice, the existence of the non-ideal properties of the Zeta converter results in steady-state output voltage error. By analyzing the power loss in the zeta converter, we proposed an improved switching control law that eliminates the steady-state output voltage error. The effectiveness of the proposed method is illustrated with simulation results.展开更多

With the simulation system, the effect on physical performance-bit error rate (BER) due to a variety of factors such as the crosstalk parameters of OPS nodes, number of cascaded OPS nodes, length of optical output buffer, traffic load and fluctuation of amplitude of optical signals are evaluated. Reliability of the simulation system is proved by the analytical results obtained in all the above cases.展开更多
