Synchronous firing of neurons is thought to be important for information communication in neuronal networks. This paper investigates the complete and phase synchronization in a heterogeneous small-world chaotic Hindmarsh Rose neuronal network. The effects of various network parameters on synchronization behaviour are discussed with some biological explanations. Complete synchronization of small-world neuronal networks is studied theoretically by the master stability function method. It is shown that the coupling strength necessary for complete or phase synchronization decreases with the neuron number, the node degree and the connection density are increased. The effect of heterogeneity of neuronal networks is also considered and it is found that the network heterogeneity has an adverse effect on synchrony. 展开更多

Traditional reduction mammoplasties have the simple concern to guarantee the survival of the nipple areola complex after surgery. Little has been done to take care of essential functions in the nipple, especially the erogenous sensation. We have conducted a retrospective study on a cohort of 573 female patients operated using the Total Posterior Pedicle of Moufarrege between 1985 and 1995 to evaluate its effect on the erogenous sensation of the nipple. This study demonstrated the preservation of the erogenous sensation of the nipple in a high proportion of these patients. The physiology of this preservation is explained in regard of the technique details in Moufarrege mammoplasty compared to other techniques. The Moufarrege Total Posterior Pedicle would therefore be a highly reliable reduction technique to ensure the preservation of the erogenous sensation of the nipple. 展开更多

Rock-forming mechanism of Fenghuangshan rockbody in Tongling area

Based on the detailed geological investigation and record of galleries and drill holes, a new idea has been advanced that granodiorite is earlier than quartz monzodiorite porphyry. Both of them are products of two different magmatic intrusive activities. The analysis results of trace elements show that the Sr content is beyond any other crustal rock and the Th content is beyond that of Ta. The whole-rock analysis indicates that rockbody is rich in CaO and poor in K2O. In the composition of Pb istope of rockbody, the ratio of 207 Pb to 204Pb is less than 15. 60. All these show that the magma mainly comes from the upper mantle. Ti,Zr,Cr,Nb trace elements and the relation between the Gardini index(τ) and the Rittmann index(σ) indicate that the rockbodies are formed in the orogenic belt and island arc tectonic setting. The summation (2REE) and the characteristic value(m( La)/m( Yb)) of the rare earth elements show that the original rock is alkalic basalt. The analysis of the characteristic values of REE and the quantitative modeling calculation indicate that the rock-forming process is dominated by mixed crystallization. According to the analysis on the rock-forming order, magmatic source, tectonic setting and rock-forming process, combined with the achievements of regional rock-controlling structures and division of sublayer of crust, it is believed that Fenghuangshan rock body derives from the deep-seated alkalic basalt magma. The rock-forming process has undertaken sialic and calcareous assimilation and contamination of two different degrees. The rock-forming model belongs to the typical assimilation and fractional cryatalization mechanism. 展开更多

A middle Paleozoic subduction-collision orogenic belt between the Siberian and North China Plates has been recognized in Xilinhot-the south of Sonid Left Banner-Erdaojing area, northern Inner Mongolia, China. It comprises five subunits: melange belt, foreland deformation belt, molasse and littoral basin, arc diorite series and syn-collision granitoid series. Evolution history of the orogenic belt can be divided into subduction stage (500-400 Ma) and collision stage (400-320 Ma). The formation of the orogenic belt caused the convergence between the Siberian and North China Plates during the late Devonian. Suture zone corresponding to the melange belt extends from Erdao-jing, Qagan Ura to Honggor. 展开更多

Integrating the surface structures with the reinterpretations of 3-D velocity images, this paper puts forward a kind of multi-oriented and layered structure for those of the upper and mid-lower crust, lithospheric and asthenospheric mantle in Tethyan erogenic belt of western Yunnan and Sichuan, China (Sanjiang belt). There exists a detachment between upper and mid-lower crust. The lithospheric mantle is a rigid and competent body unable to be deformed which preserved the older tectonic framework. The asthenosphere is an imcompetent layer that is easy to be deformed, and behaves as an initiation region of deformation, and its structural patterns reflect younger tectonics. The Cenozoic intracontinental magmatism of this region is controlled by: (i) sub-meridional and NNE trending asthenospheric upwelling around the western margin of Yangtze block; (ii) crust-mantle transitional layer formed by underplating of ascending melts; and (iii) intersection or transformation of regional structures such as major faults. 展开更多

There is a 5-km-thick crustal "root" between the Yuexi and Xiaotian where the elevation is highest on the profile. An apparent Moho offset of 4.5 km beneath the Xiaotian-Mozitan fault marks the paleo-suture of the Triassic collision. A high-velocity anomaly zone at the depth below 3 km beneath the ultra-high pressure (UHP) zone may be correlated to the higher content of UHP metamorphic rocks. 展开更多
