Erigerontis Herba(EH),the dried whole plant of Erigeron breviscapus,is well-known for circulating blood,activating meridians to alleviate pain,expelling wind,and clearing away cold.It has been extensively utilized in ...Erigerontis Herba(EH),the dried whole plant of Erigeron breviscapus,is well-known for circulating blood,activating meridians to alleviate pain,expelling wind,and clearing away cold.It has been extensively utilized in southern China for the treatment of stroke hemiplegia,chest stuffiness and pains,rheumatic arthralgia,headache,and toothache.This review focuses on the botany,ethnopharmacology,phytochemistry,pharmacology and toxicity of EH and its related prescriptions to offer new insights for prospective research of EH.Relevant information about EH was retrieved from ancient records and books,PubMed,China National Knowledge Infrastructure,Chinese Pharmacopoeia,Web of Science,Doctoral and Master’s Theses,and various electronic databases.EH is a member of Compositae family and is mainly grown in southern China.Traditional Chinese medicine records that EH has the effects of circulating blood and removing blood stasis,expelling wind,and removing cold,as well as relieving rigidity of muscle and relieving pain.By now,nearly 200 ingredients have been characterized from EH,including flavonoids,caffeoyls,aromatic acids,coumarins,pentacyclic terpenoids,volatile oil and other compounds.EH extracts,EH related prescriptions(Dengzhan Xixin injection,Dengzhan Shengmai capsules,etc.)or compounds(scutellarin,scutellarein,etc.)possessed obvious therapeutic effects of ischemic stroke,cerebral hemorrhage,myocardial infarction,Alzheimer’s disease,diabetes and its complications,gastric cancer,bone,and joint degenerative diseases.Scutellarin,the major active compound of EH,has been used as a quality marker.And no obvious toxicity of EH has been reported.According to its traditional applications,ethnopharmacology,phytochemistry,pharmacology,and toxicity,EH was applied as a valuable herb for clinical application in food and medicine fields.While several compounds have been shown to possess diverse biological activities,the underlying mechanisms of their actions remain elusive.To fully exploit the medicinal potential of EH,further studies on understanding the effective material basis and mechanisms are warranted.展开更多
This study employs combined network pharmacology and molecular docking approaches to investigate the potential mechanisms by which Erigeron breviscapus polyphenols inhibit liver fibrosis.Active compounds were identifi...This study employs combined network pharmacology and molecular docking approaches to investigate the potential mechanisms by which Erigeron breviscapus polyphenols inhibit liver fibrosis.Active compounds were identified through literature mining,with targets predicted using TCMSP,PubChem,SwissTarget,and SwissADME databases.Liver fibrosis-related targets were retrieved from GeneCards,OMIM,and TTD.Following rigorous screening,12 bioactive polyphenolic compounds and 117 corresponding targets were identified,intersecting with 8,375 liver fibrosis targets to yield 67 common targets.Protein-protein interaction analysis revealed 80 key targets(e.g.,EGFR,ESR1,PTGS2).GO and KEGG analyses indicated enrichment in 352 biological terms and 50 pathways,including chemical carcinogenesis receptor activation and steroid hormone biosynthesis.Molecular docking confirmed effective binding affinity between the top four compounds(by degree value)and their respective targets.In summary,the results of this study indicate that Erigeron breviscapus can inhibit the development of liver fibrosis and related diseases through multiple components,targets,and pathways.This study provides a solid theoretical basis for the research of Erigeron breviscapus in the field of anti liver fibrosis.展开更多

Outward K<sup>+</sup> currents were induced by a series of depolarizing voltage pulses from a holding potential of -70 mV to +20 mV in an increment of 10 mV.RESULTSExtracellular application of DSX voltage-dependently suppressed both the steady-state and peak current amplitudes of outward K<sup>+</sup> currents in rat RGCs. Furthermore, DSX reversibly and dose-dependently inhibited the amplitudes of outward K<sup>+</sup> currents of the cells. At +20 mV membrane potential DSX at the concentrations of 0.02 g/L and 0.05 g/L showed no significant effects on the currents. In contrast, DSX at higher concentrations (0.1 g/L, 0.2 g/L and 0.5 g/L) significantly suppressed the current amplitudes.CONCLUSIONThese results suggest that DSX reversibly and dose-dependently suppress outward K<sup>+</sup> channel currents in rat RGCs, which may be one of the possible mechanisms underlying Erigeron breviscapus prevents vision loss and RGC damage caused by glaucoma.展开更多
Erigeron multiradiatus(Lindl.)Benth.,has been used in Tibet folk medicine to treat various inflammatory diseases.The aim of this study was to investigate anti-myocardial ischemia and reperfusion(I/R)injury effect of c...Erigeron multiradiatus(Lindl.)Benth.,has been used in Tibet folk medicine to treat various inflammatory diseases.The aim of this study was to investigate anti-myocardial ischemia and reperfusion(I/R)injury effect of caffeoylquinic acids derivatives of E.multiradiatus(AE)in vivo and to explain underling mechanism.AE was prepared using the whole plant of E.multiradiatus and contents of 6 caffeoylquinic acid determined through HPLC analysis.Myocardial I/R were induced by left anterior descending coronary artery occlusion for 30 min followed by 24 h of reperfusion in rats.AE administration(10,20 and 40 mg·kg-1)inhibited I/R-induced injury as indicated by decreasing myocardial infarct size,reducing of CK and LDH activities and preventing ST-segment depression in dose-dependent manner.AE decreased cardiac tissue levels of pro-inflammatory factors TNF-αand IL-6 and attenuated leukocytes infiltration.AE was further demonstrated to significantly inhibit I-κB degradation,nuclear translocation of p-65 and phosphorylation of JNK.Our results suggested that cardioprotective effect of AE could be due to suppressing myocardial inflammatory response and blocking NF-κB and JNK activation pathway.Thus,caffeoylquinic acids might be the active compounds in E.multiradiatus on myocardial ischemia and be a potential natural drug for treating myocardial I/R injury.展开更多
OBJECTIVE: To assess the safety and effectiveness of Dengzhanxixin injection(DZI) extracted from Dengzhanxixin(Herba Erigerontis Breviscapi) and identify its potential risks.METHODS: A series of studies were conducted...OBJECTIVE: To assess the safety and effectiveness of Dengzhanxixin injection(DZI) extracted from Dengzhanxixin(Herba Erigerontis Breviscapi) and identify its potential risks.METHODS: A series of studies were conducted on the production process, quality standards, and pharmacology. Postmarketing clinical studies and literature reviews including adverse reactions(ADR),adverse events(ADE), case analysis and systematic reviews were also conducted. Data from the hospital information system and spontaneous reporting system were analyzed.RESULTS: The acute toxicity test indicated that the Lethal Dose 50 test( LD 50) dosage was 250 times more than the clinical maximum daily dosage(6mg/kg). In long-term toxicity tests, rats experi-enced renal tubular damage at 480 mg/kg. However, the dose of 120 mg/kg is safe and non-toxic,which is 40 times above the clinical daily maximum. Beagles had increased serum creatinine at160 mg/kg. In a prospective study, 15 962 cases experienced 16 ADR/ADE. The rate of ADR/ADE was0.1002%. ADR symptoms included rash(16.00%),chills(16.00%), and fever(16.00%).CONCLUSION: There is significant evidence that DZI is safe and effective in a clinical setting.展开更多

METHODS: The ra...AIM: To observe the effect on multifocal electroretinogram (mfERG) in persistently elevated intraocular pressure (TOP) by erigeron breviscapus extract (also named Dengzhanhua in Chinese) in rat models. METHODS: The rat models with persistently elevated TOP were established by the method of Akira. Then, erigeron breviscapus extract was given for one month to observe the effect on mfERG in persistently elevated TOP in rats. RESULTS: As elevated TOP went on, the mfERG changes were mainly in weaken of reaction density with progressive development. After intervention of erigeron breviscapus extract, the total peak latency of 131 wave had recovered to some extent and the difference was significant when compared with control group (P <0.05); the total response density and P1 wave response density in second circle had risen noticeably, which had significant differences than those of control group (P <0.05). CONCLUSION: Erigeron breviscapus extract can improve the impaired visual function of persistently elevated TOP in rats, suggesting that this extract is the effective part of erigeron breviscapus for optic neuroprotection.展开更多

It was found that the proliferation of PASMC in porcines was obvious, and the expression of proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) was significantly high within 48 h after exposure to hypoxia. The EB could inhibit the proliferation and the expression of PCNA in PASMC under hypoxia, but it had no effect on the proliferation and expression of PCNA in PASMC under normal condition. The EB could inhibit the proliferation and the expression of PCNA in PASMC induced by phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (PMA), an agonist of PKC in normal and hypoxic conditions. It was concluded that the hypoxia could enhance the proliferation and expression of PCNA in PASMC. The EB can inhibit the proliferation and expression of PCNA in PASMC under hypoxia through PKC-signal way. The EB may be used in treating the pulmonary hypertension by inhibiting the proliferation of PASMC and the pulmonary vascular remodeling.展开更多

Hand-Mazz (erigeron breviscapus) pretreatment on pathology and oxyradical level in the spinal cord after ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury in rabbits. Methods A total of 40 New Zealand white rabbits were randomly divided into three groups: sham-operation group with 10 rabbits treated with only abdominal aorta exposure without occlusion,control group with 15 rabbits that underwent ischemia for 50 minutes and treated with matched saline,and experimental group with 15 rabbits that underwent ischemia for 50 minutes and treated with erigeron breviscapus (9mg/kg) injection before ischemia. Malondialdehyde (MDA) level and superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity in the spinal cord were examined at 6 and 24 hours after I/R,respectively. The morphological changes and the number of the spinal cord anterior horn motor neurons were observed and counted under the light microscope and electron microscope,respectively. Results The level of MDA was markedly decreased and SOD activity was increased in the experimental group compared with those in the control group (P<0.01). Compared with that in the control group,the number of motor neurons in the experimental group significantly increased at 24h after I/R (P<0.01) and the morphous of the motor neurons improved. Conclusion Erigeron breviscapus can reduce oxyradical production and the apoptosis of nerve cells,and protect nerve tissue structure and function after spinal cord I/R.展开更多

[Objective] The paper was to explore the effect of water extract of Erigeron canadensis L. on seed germination of plants. [Method] Using constant temperature culture method, the effects of water extracts of roots, ste...[Objective] The paper was to explore the effect of water extract of Erigeron canadensis L. on seed germination of plants. [Method] Using constant temperature culture method, the effects of water extracts of roots, stems and leaves of E. canadensis on seed germination of 14 species of test plants (crops and weeds) were studied. [Result] Water extracts of roots, stems and leaves of E. canadensis had obvious inhibition effect on seed germination of test plants. The water extract of leaves had the strongest inhibition effect, which could completely inhibit the seed germination of Crepis tectorum L., Amaranthus tricolor L. and Chrysanthemum coronarium L. under the lower concentrations of 0.050 and 0.075 g/ml, and completely inhibit seed germination of all the plants under the concentration of 0.400 g/ml except Zea maize L. and Allium fistulosum L.; followed by water extract of stems, and the water extract of roots had the lowest the inhibition effect, except for completely restraining seed germination of Lycopersicum esculentum L. under the concentration of 0.300 g/ml, it still could not completely restrain seed germination of the other plants under the highest concentration of 0.500 g/ml. The inhibition effect of water extract of E. canadensis on seed germination of plants had obvious selectivity, which had more obvious effect on dicotyledonous plants than monocotyledonous plants. [Conclusion] The study provided reference for screening and utilization of allelochemicals of E. canadensis and research on its allelopathy mechanism.展开更多

Postmarketing clinical studies and literature reviews including adverse reactions(ADR),adverse events(ADE), case analysis and systematic reviews were also conducted. Data from the hospital information system and spontaneous reporting system were analyzed.RESULTS: The acute toxicity test indicated that the Lethal Dose 50 test( LD 50) dosage was 250 times more than the clinical maximum daily dosage(6mg/kg). In long-term toxicity tests, rats experi-enced renal tubular damage at 480 mg/kg. However, the dose of 120 mg/kg is safe and non-toxic,which is 40 times above the clinical daily maximum. Beagles had increased serum creatinine at160 mg/kg. In a prospective study, 15 962 cases experienced 16 ADR/ADE. The rate of ADR/ADE was0.1002%. ADR symptoms included rash(16.00%),chills(16.00%), and fever(16.00%).CONCLUSION: There is significant evidence that DZI is safe and effective in a clinical setting.

文摘AIM: To observe the effect on multifocal electroretinogram (mfERG) in persistently elevated intraocular pressure (TOP) by erigeron breviscapus extract (also named Dengzhanhua in Chinese) in rat models. METHODS: The rat models with persistently elevated TOP were established by the method of Akira. Then, erigeron breviscapus extract was given for one month to observe the effect on mfERG in persistently elevated TOP in rats. RESULTS: As elevated TOP went on, the mfERG changes were mainly in weaken of reaction density with progressive development. After intervention of erigeron breviscapus extract, the total peak latency of 131 wave had recovered to some extent and the difference was significant when compared with control group (P <0.05); the total response density and P1 wave response density in second circle had risen noticeably, which had significant differences than those of control group (P <0.05). CONCLUSION: Erigeron breviscapus extract can improve the impaired visual function of persistently elevated TOP in rats, suggesting that this extract is the effective part of erigeron breviscapus for optic neuroprotection.

文摘In order to study the effect of Erigeron Breviscapus (EB) on proliferation of pulmonary artery smooth muscle cells (PASMC) in hypoxic porcines, immunohistochemical and MTT methods were employed to measure the proliferation of PASMC. It was found that the proliferation of PASMC in porcines was obvious, and the expression of proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) was significantly high within 48 h after exposure to hypoxia. The EB could inhibit the proliferation and the expression of PCNA in PASMC under hypoxia, but it had no effect on the proliferation and expression of PCNA in PASMC under normal condition. The EB could inhibit the proliferation and the expression of PCNA in PASMC induced by phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (PMA), an agonist of PKC in normal and hypoxic conditions. It was concluded that the hypoxia could enhance the proliferation and expression of PCNA in PASMC. The EB can inhibit the proliferation and expression of PCNA in PASMC under hypoxia through PKC-signal way. The EB may be used in treating the pulmonary hypertension by inhibiting the proliferation of PASMC and the pulmonary vascular remodeling.
文摘Objective To investigate the effects of erigeron breviscapus (Vant.) Hand-Mazz (erigeron breviscapus) pretreatment on pathology and oxyradical level in the spinal cord after ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury in rabbits. Methods A total of 40 New Zealand white rabbits were randomly divided into three groups: sham-operation group with 10 rabbits treated with only abdominal aorta exposure without occlusion,control group with 15 rabbits that underwent ischemia for 50 minutes and treated with matched saline,and experimental group with 15 rabbits that underwent ischemia for 50 minutes and treated with erigeron breviscapus (9mg/kg) injection before ischemia. Malondialdehyde (MDA) level and superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity in the spinal cord were examined at 6 and 24 hours after I/R,respectively. The morphological changes and the number of the spinal cord anterior horn motor neurons were observed and counted under the light microscope and electron microscope,respectively. Results The level of MDA was markedly decreased and SOD activity was increased in the experimental group compared with those in the control group (P<0.01). Compared with that in the control group,the number of motor neurons in the experimental group significantly increased at 24h after I/R (P<0.01) and the morphous of the motor neurons improved. Conclusion Erigeron breviscapus can reduce oxyradical production and the apoptosis of nerve cells,and protect nerve tissue structure and function after spinal cord I/R.

文摘Erigeron annuus(L.)Pers.,an alien species,is widely distributed in most areas of China.It was included in the third batch of invasive alien species list by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of China,and it is a first-level malignant invasive plant.Due to its great reproducibility with a mass of seeds,power adaptability to the external environment and strong allelopathy,it has highly invasive and adaptability,and has affected the development of the agriculture and forestry,the diversity of local species and the ecosystem.In this paper,we summarized the current invasion situation,invasion and adaptation mechanism of E.annuus,and prospected further research on E.annuus invasion mechanism,hoping to provide a reference for realizing its effective management.

文摘[Objective] The paper was to explore the effect of water extract of Erigeron canadensis L. on seed germination of plants. [Method] Using constant temperature culture method, the effects of water extracts of roots, stems and leaves of E. canadensis on seed germination of 14 species of test plants (crops and weeds) were studied. [Result] Water extracts of roots, stems and leaves of E. canadensis had obvious inhibition effect on seed germination of test plants. The water extract of leaves had the strongest inhibition effect, which could completely inhibit the seed germination of Crepis tectorum L., Amaranthus tricolor L. and Chrysanthemum coronarium L. under the lower concentrations of 0.050 and 0.075 g/ml, and completely inhibit seed germination of all the plants under the concentration of 0.400 g/ml except Zea maize L. and Allium fistulosum L.; followed by water extract of stems, and the water extract of roots had the lowest the inhibition effect, except for completely restraining seed germination of Lycopersicum esculentum L. under the concentration of 0.300 g/ml, it still could not completely restrain seed germination of the other plants under the highest concentration of 0.500 g/ml. The inhibition effect of water extract of E. canadensis on seed germination of plants had obvious selectivity, which had more obvious effect on dicotyledonous plants than monocotyledonous plants. [Conclusion] The study provided reference for screening and utilization of allelochemicals of E. canadensis and research on its allelopathy mechanism.
