The penetration of ogival-nosed projectiles into ship plates represents a complex impact dynamics issue essential for analyzing structural failuremechanisms.Although stiffenedplates are vital in ship construction, fewstudies have addressed the issue of model equivalence under penetration loading. This study employs numerical simulation to validate an experiment with an ogival-nosed projectile penetrating a Q345 steel plate.Four equivalent stiffened plate methods are proposed based on the area, flexural modulus, moment of inertia, and thickness. The results indicate that thickness equivalence(DM4)is unsuitable for penetration-loaded stiffened plates, except under low-speed,nonpenetrating through impacts, and yields less accuracy than DM1/DM3.DM1,DM2,and DM3 each perform optimally with specific velocity ranges:DM1 at very low(critical)and high velocities,DM3 at low velocities, and DM2 at high speeds.Furthermore,in penetration scenarios,T-shaped stiffeners can be replacedwith rectangular ones,as both exhibit similar failure behaviors and deflection trends, simplifying the design while preserving key structural characteristics. These findings provide valuable insights into the design of protective ship structures. 展开更多

A differential accelerometer comprising of two rotating masses made of the same material is proposed for drop tower-based free-fall testing of the spin-spin force between the rotating mass and the Earth. The measurement is performed by placing the two concentric masses of very different momenta in a vacuum drop capsule which is falling freely in the Earth's gravitational field. A nonzero output of the differential aeeelerometer is an indication of possible violation of new equivalence principle (NEP). We present the conceptual design of a modified free-fall NEP experiment which can be performed at the Belting drop tower. Design and evaluation of the differential accelerometer with a hybrid electrostatic/magnetic suspension system are presented to accommodate for operation on ground and drop-tower tests. Details specific to the measurement uncertainty are discussed to yield an NEP test accuracy of 7.2×10^-9. 展开更多

A model of non-uniform height rectangular fin, in which the variation of base's thickness and width are taken into account, is established in this paper. The dimensionless maximum thermal resistance(DMTR) and the dimensionless equivalent thermal resistance(DETR) defined based on the entransy dissipation rate(EDR) are taken as performance evaluation indexes. According to constructal theory, the variations of the two indexes with the geometric parameters of the fin are analyzed by using a finite-volume computational fluid dynamics code, the effects of the fin-material fraction on the two indexes are analyzed. It is found that the two indexes decrease monotonically as the ratio between the front height and the back height of the fin increases subjected to the non-uniform height rectangular fin. When the model is reduced to the uniform height fin, the two indexes increase first and then decrease with increase in the ratio between the height of the fin and the fin space. The fin-material fraction has no effect on the change rule of the two indexes with the ratio between the height of the fin and the fin space. The sensitivity of the DETR to the geometric parameters of the fin is higher than that of the DMTR to the geometric parameters. The results obtained herein can provide some theoretical support for the thermal design of rectangular fins. 展开更多
