A cross-sectional survey of 489 male subjects in the age group 15 to 65 years engageddirectly or indirectly in mango cultivation along with 208 control subjects was carried out to find their socio-economic, environmental and health conditions. The conditions like high illiteracy rate (49.5%), poverty (PCI less than Rs 100 per month, 52.2%), poor housing (mud houses, 66.7%) unsafe water supply (78.6%) were prevailing in the surveyed population. The high respiratory morbidity may be attributed to high prevalence of smoking andprolonged inhalation of organic dusts during farming operation associated with illiteracyand poor socio-economic status. Gastrointestinal disorders were related to poor hygienic conditions, smoking and consumption of contaminated water. The symptoms pertaining to CNS, skin and eyes were found to be associated with exposure to pesticides 展开更多

Qualitative and Environmental Aspects Study of Water Distributed in West Algeria: The Case of Sidi Bel Abbes City

Water comes from various different sources, such as lakes, rivers, streams, springs and boreholes. Depending on the quality of its source, water will almost certainly have to be treated to make it safe to drink. All water supplies for human consumption must be well stored, free from micro-organisms, parasites and any substances that endanger public health if found in sufficient numbers or concentrations, in the same time. In our continued effort for a better result in our study of qualitative aspects, by physicochemical and bacteriological analysis, the authors focus in two crucial questions: a) is the water quality of Sidi-bel-Abbes good or bad ,and well stored? b) is the people of Sidi-bel-Abbes are aware of the importance of water and knowledgeable about how to use this vital? This study is the first to use data from I real work based upon a developed method and a good investigation to know exactly if water of Sidi-Bel-Abbes is safely treated, well stored and consumed in resemble way. In first, the authors plotted the method in analysing the qualitative aspect of water using developed material for a precise result starting by the distribution connection (condition and management) and the verification of water tank storage and finishing by analyzing the all the aspect of water (physicochemical and bacteriological analysis). In second, the authors focus on the way that people of Sidi Bel Abbes used and consumption water by introducing a targeted method (questionnaires) which help us a lot to know precisely the way, time and the real quantity of water consumed daily. In final step of our study of qualitative aspects, by physico-chemical and bacteriological, and environmental analyses, investigation processed by PCA (principal component analysis) of the drinking water supplied to Sidi Bel Abbes city (Algeria north-west) concluded by an encouraging result, that despite the various constraints faced by the departments concerned, they ensure the supply of safe drinking water in households almost daily. 展开更多

This study aims to determine the environmental aspects and impacts of the phase relating to the operation of Manantali’s hydroelectric structures and facilities according to the requirements of the ISO 14001 version 2015 standard. To do this, the mapping of the different work areas made it possible to identify all the activities within the framework of the farm. Based on the mapping, environmental measurements made including noise level, brightness, electric and magnetic fields, total particles, PM10, PM2.5, PM1 showed the work areas with the exposure limit values exceeded. The inventories of the waste produced show eighteen (18) types of waste, 67% of which are special industrial waste (SIW), 28% are ordinary industrial waste (OIW) and 5% are inert industrial waste (IIW). The identification and assessment of environmental aspects and impacts made it possible to determine sixteen (16) positive and negative significant environmental aspects (ESAs). The positive AES must be maintained, and for the negative ones, mitigation and mitigation measures must be put in place in order to manage them effectively. This will ultimately improve environmental management in the operation of hydroelectric structures and facilities. 展开更多

The use of natural lignocellulosic fibers(NLFs)as a reinforcement mechanism for cementitious composites,such as mortar,has been investigated in the last decades.However,their application has often been restricted to technological evaluation research.A NLF with great potential the curaua,which after treatment with NaOH solution,proved to be technologically feasible for mortars reinforcement based on cement and lime.The objective of this research was the comparative evaluation between a traditional mortar,based on cement and lime,with 1:1:6:0.8 ratio of cement:lime:sand:water,and a modified mortar with addition of 2 wt.%treated curaua fiber in cement mass by evaluating environmental and durability aspects.After a curing time for 28 days,environmental assessments were carried out and durability methodologies were evaluated.The tests performed were:(i)attack by chlorides and sulfate,(ii)the wetting and drying cycles,and(iii)slake durability test.The results showed that the mortar with the addition of curaua fiber presented a similar behavior to the reference mixture,both in terms of environmental and durability aspects.This modified mortar is able to be used in internal and external environments,the latter with some conditions.Besides,it also contributes to the promotion of sustainable use of curaua fiber. 展开更多

Rice is one of the most important agricultural products and it is cultivated in almost all countries in the world. Its production requires usually large flooded areas. Under these conditions, many greenhouse gases are generated, such as carbon dioxide, methane, nitrogen oxides and its derivatives. Cultivation of rice is responsible by the release of relevant amounts of these gases and contributes decisively to global warming. In this sense, the major points described here are general environmental aspects, the mechanisms of production of greenhouse gases, bioremediation, mitigation using other techniques and possible improvements of the cultivation by fertilizers and chemicals. 展开更多

Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is an analytical tool used for the environmental optimization of products and services within the entirety of its life cycle. ISO 14040 recommends use of the technique in numerous areas of environmental management such as in designing for the environment, eco-labelling, environmental communications and the assessment of the effects of environmental activities. Despite being theoretically feasible, certain applications of the ecological assessment of a life cycle such as the possibility of identification and evaluation of environmental aspects with the use of LCA are, in practice, still new to many environmental managers. With its strong points, the technique seems to be a valuable tool, especially in the context of apparent concepts of Product-Oriented Environmental Management Systems (POEMS). In order to verify the hypothesis, the author decided to verify the level of use of LCA in the area of identification and assessment of environmental aspects in selected organizations. Therefore, questionnaire interviews were conducted with representatives of selected Polish and Swedish enterprises who, at the time of the interview, had certified environmental management systems. The organizations were analyzed with respect to applied methods and techniques used for identification and assessment of environmental aspects as well as the degree of use of LCA both in this respect and in other areas of environmental management. When evaluating environmental risk and its perception, psychosocial and psychosomatic factors may be of fundamental importance for public health programming and the promotion of quality of life. This is the case in particular where knowledge of the true health consequences of environmental exposure to given risk factors are incomplete or its action is within the range of values where we do not anticipate the measurable biological effect. This applies not only in the case of the indoor environment related complaints but also to that of non-ionizing electromagnetic radiation and electroionic microclimate, among many others. A serious consequence found in the syndrome of mass hysteria is the fact that due to differently motivated information and disinformation, part of the population can suffer from psychosomatic symptoms and deterioration quality of life for those affected. 展开更多

以甘南高寒草甸为对象,研究了坡向梯度上环境因子的变化特点及其与地上生物量和物种丰富度的关系.结果表明:0~20 cm与20~40 cm的土壤含水量均是自阳坡到阴坡呈递增的变化趋势,且20~40 cm土壤的含水量高于0~20 cm的;两层土壤的全磷... 以甘南高寒草甸为对象,研究了坡向梯度上环境因子的变化特点及其与地上生物量和物种丰富度的关系.结果表明:0~20 cm与20~40 cm的土壤含水量均是自阳坡到阴坡呈递增的变化趋势,且20~40 cm土壤的含水量高于0~20 cm的;两层土壤的全磷质量分数和w(C):w(N)与含水量的变化相同,土壤全氮、有机质、速效磷及速效氮质量分数的变化均呈先减小后增大的趋势,偏阳坡最小.土壤养分质量分数均是0~20 cm的大于20~40 cm的,表现出表层土壤养分富集的现象,土壤pH值沿阳坡到阴坡呈递减趋势.地上生物量和物种丰富度的变化特点均为阴坡>偏阴坡>偏阳坡>阳坡,且地上生物量与物种丰富度显著正相关.同归分析表明:土壤含水量与土壤全磷,有机质质量分数是影响地上生物量和物种丰富度的主要因子,其中土壤含水量是关键限制性因子. 展开更多

为了揭示坡向变化对土壤纤毛虫群落的影响,于2015年4月和7月,对甘南亚高寒草甸不同坡向的土壤纤毛虫群落及环境因子进行了研究。结果表明:春季鉴定出土壤纤毛虫97种,隶属于9纲、17目、32科、50属,夏季鉴定出土壤纤毛虫141种,隶属于9纲... 为了揭示坡向变化对土壤纤毛虫群落的影响,于2015年4月和7月,对甘南亚高寒草甸不同坡向的土壤纤毛虫群落及环境因子进行了研究。结果表明:春季鉴定出土壤纤毛虫97种,隶属于9纲、17目、32科、50属,夏季鉴定出土壤纤毛虫141种,隶属于9纲、18目、32科、55属;随着土层深度变化,土壤纤毛虫群落有明显的表聚性;春季土壤纤毛虫密度和类群数明显低于夏季,不同坡向则是春季的阳坡和夏季的西坡土壤纤毛虫密度最高;从5个坡向的土壤环境因子来看,阴坡的土壤含水量和养分含量较高、pH和温度较低,阳坡则与其相反,西坡环境因子较适中;RDA分析结果表明,甘南亚高寒草甸不同类群的土壤纤毛虫对环境因子的响应不同,大多数类群适宜西坡水热和营养适中的生境状况,篮口科(Nassulidae)、篮环科(Cyrtolophosidae)适宜全磷丰富的半阳坡,康纤科(Cohnilemebidae)则适应含水量高、营养丰富的阴坡。 展开更多

【目的】分析黄土高原丘陵区文冠果在不同生境条件下的种子成苗、实生苗生长及其与环境因素的关系,阐明该区域文冠果种群实生苗更新状况及影响因素,为文冠果种群恢复及可持续经营提供依据。【方法】通过固定样地调查,对黄土高原丘陵... 【目的】分析黄土高原丘陵区文冠果在不同生境条件下的种子成苗、实生苗生长及其与环境因素的关系,阐明该区域文冠果种群实生苗更新状况及影响因素,为文冠果种群恢复及可持续经营提供依据。【方法】通过固定样地调查,对黄土高原丘陵区阳坡、半阳坡和半阴坡3种生境下的文冠果天然种群种子幼苗转化率、幼苗数量、幼苗生长状况、幼苗生物量分配及环境因子对文冠果实生苗生长发育的影响进行研究。【结果】各坡向均有1年生文冠果实生苗,但不同坡向实生苗平均数量不同,阳坡生境1年生实生苗相对较多(632株·hm -2),而半阴坡相对较少(484株·hm -2);各坡向文冠果种子幼苗转化率均较低,3个坡向文冠果种子幼苗转化率表现为半阴坡(0.57%)>半阳坡(0.43%)>阳坡(0.25%);各坡向实生苗数量总体较少,随着年龄增加,实生苗数量逐渐减少,各年龄阶段(1~5年生)文冠果实生苗数量均表现为阳坡>半阳坡>半阴坡;阳坡、半阳坡和半阴坡生境光照、水分等环境条件均存在差异,这使文冠果实生苗在不同坡向存在不同的适应策略,1~5年生文冠果实生苗的高度、基径和冠幅均表现为阳坡>半阳坡>半阴坡,阳坡生境更有利于文冠果幼苗的生长发育;各坡向1~5年生文冠果实生苗地下生物量均大于地上生物量,地上、地下生物量均表现为阳坡>半阳坡>半阴坡;由于环境的异质性,不同坡向文冠果根冠比最大值出现的年龄阶段不同,阳坡和半阴坡2年生幼苗根冠比最大,而半阳坡4年生幼苗根冠比最大;阳坡生境1~5年生实生苗茎干质量、叶干质量和根干质量均大于半阳坡和半阴坡,而且这种差异随着年龄的增加有扩大的趋势,随着幼苗年龄增加,阳坡与半阳坡、半阴坡的茎生物量比、叶生物量比和根生物量比差异越来越显著;环境因素对文冠果幼苗数量、幼苗高度及幼苗生物量有重要影响,幼苗数量与光照强度显著正相关,与总盖度显著负相关,幼苗高度与土壤含水量显著负相关,幼苗生物量与光照强度极显著正相关。【结论】阳坡生境文冠果种子萌发率较低,但萌发成苗之后却有利于文冠果幼苗的定居,实生苗生长状况均好于半阳坡和半阴坡,该生境文冠果实生苗可以更好地利用资源,缩短进入主林层的时间,因此,在文冠果人工林培育时,应尽可能选择阳坡生境。 展开更多
