Using examples of award-winning young authors--Bojan Krivokapic, Mirko Bozic, and Sima Majic, different types of so-called engaged poetry are indicated. This kind of poetry is used to subtly, critically, or in a very subversive way relate to the existing world, but also a new postmodern identity is formed through specific and carefully chosen poetic lexis, deprived of any kind of structure or limitation. The poetry of mentioned authors is used as a provisory example in order to indicate that post-war period (as well as postmodern time) changes the perception of identity, from nationally and politically oriented structure to individual and subversive, conventions-free comprehension of Oneself. Although the three authors are very different in style and expression, what brings them together is tendency to escape conventional and traditional cultural images in order to emphasize the importance of Being Different, but Equally Rightful.展开更多

Method: In-depth interviews were conducted with ten work-engaged nurses employed at the main hospital in one region in Norway. The interviews were interpreted using the Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis method (IPA). Results: The results indicate the importance of using the personal resources: authenticity and a sense of humour for staying healthy. The nurses’ authenticity, in the sense of having a strong sense of ownership towards their personal life experiences, and a sense of having a meaningful life in line with their own values and interests, was an important element when they considered their own health to be good in spite of repetitive strain injuries and perceived stress. These personal resources seem to be positively related to their well-being and work engagement, which serves as an argument for including them among other personal resources, often conceptualized in terms of Psychological Capital (PsyCap). The results also showed that the nurses worked actively and intentionally with conditions that could contribute to safeguarding their own health. Conclusion: The results indicated the importance of stimulating the nurses’ area of knowledge about caring for themselves in order to enable them to maintain good physical and mental health. A focus on self-care should be part of the agenda as early as during nursing education.展开更多

文摘Background Health promotion(HP)interventions delivered through sports clubs have demonstrated promising outcomes among men,but less is known about which aspects of the interventions work, for whom, and under what circumstances. This rapid realist review aimed to understand the contexts, mechanisms, and outcomes of HP interventions for men delivered through sports clubs. Methods A systematic literature search was conducted in February 2023 for studies published after 2013 in MEDLINE,Embase, and SPORTDiscus databases.Included studies:(a)were delivered by or in collaboration with sports clubs,(b)targeted men aged 18+years,and(c)reported 1 or more HP outcomes.A grey literature search was also performed.Studies were included in a realist synthesis based on richness and rigor.Hereafter,context-mechanism-outcome(CMO)configurations were developed. Results We identified and screened 3358 studies, finally including 59 studies describing 22 interventions. Most HP interventions were delivered in high income countries, included Caucasian men aged 35-65 years with overweight/obesity,and used professional sports clubs(mostly football)for recruitment and facilities.Quantitative HP outcomes were reported across 19 interventions.Of these 19 interventions, the majority reported on weight(n=18),physical activity(n=12),mental health(n=10),and diet(n=9).We identified 13 CMOs related to how HP interventions affected men's recruitment, engagement, and health behavior maintenance. Conclusion Our findings show that using sports clubs for HP interventions is effective for engaging men.Recruitment was facilitated by leveraging sports clubs’identity, addressing masculinity-related barriers, improving accessibility, and building trust.Engagement was enhanced through shared identity experiences, safe spaces, inclusive competition, and self-efficacy.However,there's limited evidence on behavior maintenance post-intervention,though involving community stakeholders seemed vital. In general, considerations should be made to avoid perpetuating traditional masculine norms, which may exclude some men and reinforce unhealthy behaviors. These findings can guide intervention development, emphasizing the need to harness men's perspectives in the process.
文摘Background:Work engagement(WE)is critical to quality primary healthcare delivery. However, limited research has explored its levels and determinants among healthcare professionals in low-and middle-income countries. This study assessed the levels and correlates of work engagement among physician assistants(PAs)in Ghana. Methods:A cross-sectional study was conducted among 439 PAs from October to December 2024.Participants were recruited via emails, social media platforms, and posters featuring study links and scannable questionnaire codes.WE was measured using the validated Utrecht Work Engagement Scale questionnaire. Results:Overall,WE levels were average, with similar trends across the three subdomains. In the bootstrapped multivariate linear regression model, anxiety was negatively associated with WE(β=-0.49,95%confidence interval[CI]:-0.77 to-0.21).Conversely,working in an urban area(β=0.36,95%CI:0.05 to 0.67),holding the rank of PA/Senior PA(β=0.27,95%CI:0.03 to 0.52),reporting good self-rated health(β=0.54,95%CI:0.19 to 0.88),and working at health centers(β=0.86,95%CI:0.22 to 1.50)were positively associated with WElevels. Conclusion:WE levels are average in the study sample, highlighting the need for strategic interventions to improve and sustain the healthcare workforce's motivation and performance.Addressing workplace stressors, enhancing professional development opportunities, and fostering supportive work environments could improve engagement among PAs and healthcare professionals in general.Strengthening WE is essential for ensuring resilient quality primary healthcare systems and achieving the goals of universal health coverage.
文摘Student engagement in learning is a concern for teachers in the implementation of blended learning, which reflects the effectiveness of the pedagogical measures taken by teachers.Blended learning encompasses traditional blended, blended online, and blended synchronous, which combine synchronous and asynchronous teaching and learning activities. This paper adopts an inductive approach to investigate and analyse students‘engagement in learning from three dimensions:behavioural, affective and cognitive, specifically focusing on three meta-categories,namely,course structure and arrangement, choice of teaching and learning activities, and teacher’s role in relation to the course,to investigate the teaching of teachers of different disciplines in three vocational colleges and to analyse the pedagogical strategies that the teachers use in order to improve students’engagement in blended learning. The findings suggest that communicating about the course at the beginning of the semester, clarifying course requirements, and building a trusting relationship with students play a key role in increasing student engagement in blended learning, and that the use of digital tools is an important means of promoting students’behavioural and emotional active participation in learning.
文摘In Chinese tradition, the term“耄耋”(Mào Dié)refers to those in their nineties,a stage of life associated with wisdom and longevity. As the Bank of China Singapore Branch(BOCSG)approaches its 90th anniversary, this expression captures the spirit of an institution that has stood the test of time.Since its establishment in Singapore in 1936,the BOCSG has maintained a strong and enduring presence not only in Singapore but across Southeast Asia, serving as a bridge between China and Singapore, and more broadly, between China and the ASEAN region. Its continued growth has been underpinned by the mutual prosperity of both economies and the strength of their longstanding and harmonious ties.
文摘Can a reader, upon reading literary fictions,be moved into social actions or engage in socially meaningful activities? If it is so,then will reading gay-themed,popular fictions mean anything for the LGBTQ issue in contemporary China? This article argues that a reader of gay-themed,“Boys Love”(or“BL”for short)novels may be moved into taking some social actions for greater tolerance and acceptance of the LGBTQ community in contemporary China, based on the concept of“engaged spectator”,which is a reconstruct of Adam Smith’s moral-psychological model of“impartial spectator”into an actively reading, socially engaged agent taking affirmative actions to bring about greater social justice. This“engaged spectator”shall have a few steps in its active reading of fictions and engaging in transformative social actions, namely“subjective identification”,“ambience appreciation”,and finally,“social engagement”-the three of which are in a lexical order. This tri-step model is based on a neuropsychological reading of Adam Smith into the reader empathy theory.Furthermore, this model is illustrated with Kirin,a popular BL novel, where the reader may engage in social actions to create a more tolerant environment for the LGBTQ community in contemporary China. The three steps outlined above shall offer us an account of explaining how an active reading experience may lead to a socially transformative result.
文摘This study investigated the role of intentional self-regulation and the moderating role of peer relationship in the relationship between teacher-student relationship and learning engagement. The study sample comprised 540 Chinese senior secondary school students between the ages of 15–18(51.67%boys;Mage=16.56 years;SDage=0.90).They completed surveys on the Teacher-Student Relationship Scale, the Selection,Optimization, and Compensation(SOC)Scale, the Peer Relationship Scale for Children and Adolescents, and the Learning Engagement Scale. The results following regression analysis showed that teacher-student relationship predicted higher learning engagement among senior secondary school students.Intentional self-regulation partially mediated the link between teacher-student relationship and learning engagement for higher learning engagement.Peer relationship moderated the relationships between teacher-student relationship and learning engagement and moderated the relationship between teacher-student relationship and intentional self-regulation for higher learning engagement.Thesefindings imply learning engagement can be enhanced by optimizing teacher-student relationship and strengthening intentional self-regulation interventions.

文摘The classroom participation is influenced by quality courses and teachers, and seat selection is an indicator of students’willingness to participate in the classroom. This study utilized a questionnaire to explore the dynamic mechanism underlying how teacher-student proximity and course importance affect classroom engagement.A survey on seat selection was conducted with 500 students across four grades(A,B,C,D)based on their academic performance.A simulated classroom was used to ask students about seat selection in different conditions, related to course importance predetermined by the school authorities(C1:important,C2:not important,C0:unknown)and teacher likeability judged by students themselves(T1:very popular,T2:not popular,T0:unknown).Important courses and well-liked teachers encourage students to opt for front seats. The seat selection among students of different grades varied significantly in the conditions that were established, except for C0T1.High-performing students(those allotted A grade)chose seats closer to the front of the class in comparison with their lower-performing peers in all set conditions.Further, course importance has more influence on students’seat choices than the popularity of the teacher. The data collected from low-performing students(with D grade)reflect the opposite results. This study reveals the relationship between classroom seating and performance, emphasizing the importance of enhancing students’classroom participation willingness for the improvement of teaching effectiveness in university.
