Short-term high temperature stress often occurs during cotton production, but little is known about the specific timing and duration of stress that affects fiber development. To make this clear, pot experiments were carried in 2014 and 2015 in a climate chamber using cotton cultivars HY370WR(less sensitive variety) and Sumian 15(heat sensitive variety), which present different temperature sensitivities. Changes of the most important fiber quality indices(i.e., fiber length, fiber strength and marcironaire) and three very important fiber development components(i.e., cellulose, sucrose and callose) were analyzed to define the time window and critical duration to the high temperature stress at 34°C(max38°C/min30°C). When developing bolls were subjected to 5 days of high temperature stress at different days post-anthesis(DPA), the changes(Δ%) of fiber length, strength and micronire, as a function of imposed time followed square polynomial eq. as y=a+bx+cx^2, and the time around 15 DPA was the most sensitive period for fiber quality development in response to heat stress. When 15 DPA bolls were heat-stressed for different durations(2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 days), the changes(Δ%) of fiber length, strength and micronire, as a function of stress duration followed logistic equations y=A_1-A_2/1+(x/x_0)~p+A_2. Referred to that 5, 10 and 15% are usually used as criteria to decide whether techniques are effective or changes are significant in crop culture practice and reguard to the fiber quality indices change range, we suggested that 5% changes of the major fiber quality indices(fiber length, fiber strength and micronaire) and 10% changes of fiber development components(cellulose, sucrose and callose) could be taken as criteria to judge whether fiber development and fiber quality have been significantly affected by high temperature stress. The key time window for cotton fiber development in response to the high temperature stress was 13–19 DPA, and the critical duration was about 5 days.展开更多

To overcome the performance challenge for the selective restore operations of deduplication systems, solid-state-drive-based (i.e., SSD-based) re^d cache cm, be deployed for speeding up by caching popular restore contents dynamically. Unfortunately, frequent data updates induced by classical cache schemes (e.g., LRU and LFU) significantly shorten SSDs' lifetime while slowing down I/O processes in SSDs. To address this problem, we propose a new solution -- LOP-Cache to greatly improve tile write durability of SSDs as well as I/O performance by enlarging the proportion of long-term popular (LOP) data among data written into SSD-based cache. LOP-Cache keeps LOP data in the SSD cache for a long time period to decrease the number of cache replacements. Furthermore, it prevents unpopular or unnecessary data in deduplication containers from being written into the SSD cache. We implemented LOP-Cache in a prototype deduplication system to evaluate its pertbrmance. Our experimental results indicate that LOP-Cache shortens the latency of selective restore by an average of 37.3% at the cost of a small SSD-based cache with only 5.56% capacity of the deduplicated data. Importantly, LOP-Cache improves SSDs' lifetime by a factor of 9.77. The evidence shows that LOP-Cache offers a cost-efficient SSD-based read cache solution to boost performance of selective restore for deduplication systems.展开更多

文摘Unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs)technology is rapidly advancing, offering innovative solutions for various industries, including the critical task of oil and gas pipeline surveillance. However, the limited flight time of conventional UAVs presents a significant challenge to comprehensive and continuous monitoring, which is crucial for maintaining the integrity of pipeline infrastructure. This review paper evaluates methods for extending UAV flight endurance, focusing on their potential application in pipeline inspection.Through an extensive literature review, this study identifies the latest advancements in UAV technology, evaluates their effectiveness, and highlights the existing gaps in achieving prolonged flight operations.Advanced techniques, including artificial intelligence(AI),machine learning(ML),and deep learning(DL),are reviewed for their roles in pipeline monitoring.Notably,DL algorithms like You Only Look Once(YOLO)are explored for autonomous flight in UAV-based inspections,real-time defect detection, such as cracks, corrosion, and leaks, enhancing reliability and accuracy.A vital aspect of this research is the proposed deployment of a hybrid drone design combining lighter-than-air(LTA)and heavier-than-air(HTA)principles,achieving a balance of endurance and maneuverability.LTA vehicles utilize buoyancy to reduce energy consumption, thereby extending flight durations. The paper details the methodology for designing LTA vehicles, presenting an analysis of design parameters that align with the requirements for effective pipeline surveillance. The ongoing work is currently at Technology Readiness Level(TRL)4,where key components have been validated in laboratory conditions, with fabrication and flight testing planned for the next phase.Initial design analysis indicates that LTA configurations could offer significant advantages in flight endurance compared to traditional UAV designs. These findings lay the groundwork for future fabrication and testing phases, which will be critical in validating and assessing the proposed approach’s real-world applicability.By outlining the technical complexities and proposing specialized techniques tailored for pipeline monitoring, this paper provides a foundational framework for advancing UAV capabilities in the oil and gas sector.Researchers and industry practitioners can use this roadmap to further develop UAV-enabled surveillance solutions, aiming to improve the reliability, efficiency, and safety of pipeline monitoring.
文摘BACKGROUND In pediatric and adolescent athletes, there is a lack of understanding about the impact of factors such as race on the structural or cardiovascular adaptations in response to exercise which may unnecessarily disqualify athletes from the competitive sport. We hypothesized that race has an impact on cardiac adaptions in non-adult athletes.AIM To explore the racial disparity in electrocardiographic(ECG)and echocardiographic(ECHO)parameters in healthy adolescent athletes.METHODS A comprehensive electronic systematic literature search using MEDLINE database was performed from inception to September 20,2024.Inclusion criteria included randomized or observational cohort studies that recruited adolescent competitive athletes in any sport discipline and compared between the Black and White races with an age range of 12-18 years.RESULTS Of 723 records that were identified by the literature search, seven studies(n=5036)were included. The mean age was 13.0-18.0 years old with male predominance.Black athletes had significantly longer PR interval[mean difference(MD)=17.49 millisecond,95% CI:11.70-23.29]and shorter QRS complex duration(MD=-7.35 millisecond,95% CI:-9.17 to-5.53)and corrected QT interval(MD=-4.95 millisecond,95% CI:-7.69 to-2.22)than the White athletes.Black athletes were approximately four times more likely to have first-degree atrioventricular(AV)block, inverted T wave,ST-segment elevation, and left atrium(LA)enlargement than their White counterparts. In terms of ECHO parameters,Black athletes had significantly greater septal wall thickness(MD=0.85 mm,95% CI:0.62-1.07),posterior wall thickness(MD=1.07 mm,95% CI:0.36-1.78),relative wall thickness(MD=0.03,95%CI:0.001-0.06),maximal wall thickness(MD=1.05 mm,95%CI:0.28-1.83),and LA diameter(MD=1.64 mm,95%CI:0.16-3.12).CONCLUSION Race has an impact on the ECG and ECHO parameters that reflect cardiac adaptations in adolescent athletes.Black athletes tend to have an increased prevalence of distinct ECG changes such as first-degree AV block and T-wave inversions compared with their White counterparts.Despite having thicker septal and posterior walls, the overall prevalence of left ventricular hypertrophy did not differ between the races.
文摘Tennis,a popular sport in colleges and universities,is deeply loved by teachers and students. However, due to its high physical demands, technical difficulty, and other characteristics,it requires a high level of physical fitness.Compared to competitive tennis, although college tennis instruction may lack competitiveness and involve lower exercise intensity,it still necessitates regular physical training to enhance body coordination, balance, and agility. This can help students stay physically fit while avoiding injuries. This article explores the content of physical training in college tennis instruction, clarifies the important role of physical training, and summarizes a series of physical training pathways to provide reference support for physical training in college tennis instruction.

文摘BACKGROUND Lung cancer is one of the most common and deadly cancers worldwide. As the disease progresses and due to the side effects of treatment, patients’physical activity significantly decreases.AIM To systematically review and conduct a meta-analysis on the effects of exercise rehabilitation on the physical activity of lung cancer patients and determine the best implementation methods to provide clinical guidance.METHODS Literature was searched through multiple electronic databases.A random effects model was used to combine effect sizes through standardized mean difference(SMD).The Cochrane risk of bias tool was used to assess the quality of the lite-rature,sensitivity analysis was used to ensure the robustness of the results, and Egger’s test was used to detect publication bias and asymmetry.RESULTS A total of 11 studies involving 541 patients were included in this study. The phy-sical endurance, muscle function and cardiopulmonary function of non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC)patients were evaluated. The overall effect size of the six-minute walk test(6MWT)was not statistically significant. However, subgroup analysis found that endurance significantly improved when exercise duration exceeded 0.5 hours(P≤0.05).In terms of muscle function, the overall effect size was SMD=0.619.Subgroup analysis showed that strength training, respiratory training, and cross-training(XT)significantly improved muscle function.Exercise rehabilitation significantly enhanced cardiopulmonary endurance(SMD=0.856,P=0.002),and the effect was better when the single exercise duration was more than 1 hour, age was over 65 years, and the intervention period was more than 3 months.CONCLUSION Exercise rehabilitation effectively improved muscle function in NSCLC patients, especially strength training, respiratory training, and cross-training.Cardiopulmonary function also showed improvement, particularly when exercise duration exceeded 1 hour, age was≥65 years, and the intervention period was more than 3 months.A single exercise duration of more than 0.5 hours can enhance patients’physical endurance.Appropriately increasing exercise duration and selecting suitable exercise forms can effectively improve the physical activity of NSCLC patients.

文摘This study proposes a method for calculating the probability distribution of structural responses at different intensities using the endurance time(ET)method. The results can be used to calculate the fragility curve of structural collapse. The ET method involves dynamic analysis of a structure under an intensifying record over time. While conventional ET methods can determine the median of the structural response, they lack the ability to calculate its dispersion. To address this limitation, the present study utilizes ET analysis and single-degree-of-freedom(SDOF)systems to develop a method that considers the record-to-record variability for calculating the probability distribution of structural response. The accuracy of this method is evaluated by comparing it with the incremental dynamic analysis(IDA)method using special moment frames. The results demonstrate that the proposed method achieves a reasonably accurate estimation of dispersion while significantly reducing the computational burden(by approximately 95%)compared to the IDA method.

文摘Solid-state drives (SSDs)have been widely used as caching tier for disk-based RAID systems to speed up dataintensive applications. However, traditional cache schemes fail to effectively boost the parity-based RAID storage sys- tems (e.g.,RAID-5/6),which have poor random write performance due to the small-write problem. What's worse, intensive cache writes can wear out the SSD quickly, which causes performance degradation and cost increment. In this article,we present the design and implementation of KDD, an efficient SSD-based caching system which Keeps Data and Deltas in SSD.When write requests hit in the cache, KDD dispatches the data to the RAID storage without updating the parity blocks to mitigate the small write penalty, and compactly stores the compressed deltas in SSD to reduce the cache write traffic while guaranteeing reliability in case of disk failures. In addition,KDD organizes the metadata partition on SSD as a circular log to make the cache persistent with low overhead. We evaluate the performance of KDD via both simulations and prototype implementations.Experimental results show that KDD effectively reduces the small write penalty while extending the lifetime of the SSD-based cache by up to 6.85 times.

文摘Deduplication has been commonly used in both enterprise storage systems and cloud storage. The evidence shows that LOP-Cache offers a cost-efficient SSD-based read cache solution to boost performance of selective restore for deduplication systems.

文摘Background:This study aimed to determine the effect of different carbohydrate(CHO)doses on exercise capacity in patients with McArdle disease—the paradigm of“exercise intolerance”,characterized by complete muscle glycogen unavailability—and to determine whether higher exogenous glucose levels affect metabolic responses at the McArdle muscle cell(in vitro)level. Methods:Patients with McArdle disease(n=8)and healthy controls(n=9)underwent a 12-min submaximal cycling constant-load bout followed by a maximal ramp test 15 min after ingesting a non-caloric placebo. In a randomized,double-blinded,cross-over design, patients repeated the tests after consuming either 75 g or 150 g of CHO(glucose:fructose=2:1).Cardiorespiratory,biochemical,perceptual,and electromyographic(EMG)variables were assessed.Additionally, glucose uptake and lactate appearance were studied in vitro in wild-type and McArdle mouse myotubes cultured with increasing glucose concentrations(0.35,1.00,4.50,and 10.00 g/L).Results:Compared with controls, patients showed the“classical”second-wind phenomenon(after prior disproportionate tachycardia, myalgia, and excess electromyographic activity during submaximal exercise, all p<0.05)and an impaired endurance exercise capacity(-51%ventilatory threshold and55%peak power output, both p<0.001).Regardless of the CHO dose(p<0.05 for both doses compared with the placebo),CHO intake increased blood glucose and lactate levels, decreased fat oxidation rates, and attenuated the second wind in the patients. However, only the higher dose increased ventilatory threshold(+27%,p=0.010)and peak power output(+18%,p=0.007).In vitro analyses revealed no differences in lactate levels across glucose concentrations in wild-type myotubes, whereas a doseresponse effect was observed in McArdle myotubes. Conclusion:CHO intake exerts beneficial effects on exercise capacity in McArdle disease,a condition associated with total muscle glycogen unavailability. Some of these benefits are dose dependent.

文摘With the rapid development of machine learning, the demand for high-efficient computing becomes more and more urgent. To break the bottleneck of the traditional Von Neumann architecture,computing-in-memory(CIM)has attracted increasing attention in recent years. In this work,to provide a feasible CIM solution for the large-scale neural networks(NN)requiring continuous weight updating in online training,a flash-based computing-in-memory with high endurance(10^(9) cycles)and ultrafast programming speed is investigated. On the one hand, the proposed programming scheme of channel hot electron injection(CHEI)and hot hole injection(HHI)demonstrate high linearity, symmetric potentiation, and a depression process, which help to improve the training speed and accuracy. On the other hand, the low-damage programming scheme and memory window(MW)optimizations can suppress cell degradation effectively with improved computing accuracy.Even after 109 cycles, the leakage current(I_(off))of cells remains sub-10pA,ensuring the large-scale computing ability of memory.Further characterizations are done on read disturb to demonstrate its robust reliabilities.By processing CIFAR-10 tasks,it is evident that~90%accuracy can be achieved after 109 cycles in both ResNet50 and VGG16 NN.Our results suggest that flash-based CIM has great potential to overcome the limitations of traditional Von Neumann architectures and enable high-performance NN online training, which pave the way for further development of artificial intelligence(AI)accelerators.
