Sporadic E(ES) is a common ionospheric irregularity phenomenon that is first noticed in the E layer. ES mainly appears during daytime in summer hemispheres, and is formed primarily from neutral wind shear in the mesosphere and lower thermosphere(MLT) region. Field-aligned irregularity(FAI) in the E region is also observed by Very High Frequency(VHF) radar in mid-latitude regions. FAI frequently occurs after sunset in summer hemispheres, and spectrum features of E region FAI echoes suggest that type-2 irregularity is dominant in the nighttime ionosphere. A close relationship between ES and E region FAI implies that ES may be a possible source of E region FAI in the nighttime ionosphere. Strong neutral wind shear, steep ES plasma density gradient, and a polarized electric field are the significant factors affecting the formation of E region FAI. At mid-latitudes, joint observational experiments including ionosonde, VHF radar, Global Positioning System(GPS) stations, and all-sky optical images have revealed strong connections across different scales of ionospheric irregularities in the nighttime F region, such as spread F(SF), medium-scale traveling ionospheric disturbances(MSTID), and F region FAI.Observations suggest that different scales of ionospheric irregularities are generally attributed to the Perkins instability and subsequently excited gradient drift instability. Nighttime MSTID can further evolve into small-scale structures through a nonlinear cascade process when a steep plasma density gradient exists at the bottom of the F region. In addition, the effect of ionospheric electrodynamic coupling processes, including ionospheric E-F coupling and inter-hemispheric coupling on the generation of ionospheric irregularities, becomes more prominent due to the significant dip angle and equipotentiality of magnetic field lines in the mid-latitude ionosphere. Polarized electric fields can map to different ionospheric regions and excite plasma instabilities which form ionospheric irregularities. Nevertheless, the mapping efficiency of a polarized electric field depends on the ionospheric background and spatial scale of the field.展开更多

We show that the collective decay property is strongly dependent on the phase of atomic radiation and the speeding up of collective decay can only be observed in a bad cavity regime. For in-or out-phase case, this occurs due to the quantum interference enhancement, no matter which atom is excited initially. For π/2 phase, the speeding up of collective decay takes place if the first atom is excited at the beginning. However, it disappears due to the quantum interference cancellation if the second atom is excited. Compared with the in-phase and out-phase cases,we also show that the speeding up of collective decay can be significantly enhanced in strong coupling regime for π/2 phase, although one atom is decoupled to the cavity in this condition. The study presented here is helpful to understand the physical mechanism of collective decay in cavity quantum electrodynamics and it provides a useful method to control the collective decay phenomenon via quantum interference effect.展开更多

The theoretical results have firstly demonstrated the existence of the particle oscillations and their characteristics, especially of the springpoint oscillation at large amplitude. And through the comparisons of theoretical and experimental trajectories, the adopted motion equation has proved to be able to rigorously describe the particle motion in non-Stokes region-the shape of trajectory and frequency characteristics are fairly consistent and the deviations of amplitude can usually be less than 10%.展开更多

文摘By introducing Oseen's formula to describe the viscous drag force, a more complete motion equation for a charged microparticle levitated in an electrodynamic balance (EDB) has been put forward and solved numerically by the classic Runge-Kutta method in this paper. The theoretical results have firstly demonstrated the existence of the particle oscillations and their characteristics, especially of the springpoint oscillation at large amplitude. And through the comparisons of theoretical and experimental trajectories, the adopted motion equation has proved to be able to rigorously describe the particle motion in non-Stokes region-the shape of trajectory and frequency characteristics are fairly consistent and the deviations of amplitude can usually be less than 10%.

文摘In the design realm of fusion power supplies, structural components play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety of fusion devices. To verify the reliability of the converter structure design at the Comprehensive Research Facility for Fusion Technology(CRAFT),meticulous analysis of the converter's dynamic impact is carefully performed based on the worst fault current(400k A),firstly.Subsequently, the thermal stress analysis based on the maximum allowable steadystate temperature is finished, and the equivalent thermal stress, thermal deformation, maximum shear stress of a single bridge arm and the whole converter are studied.Furthermore,a simple research method involving the current-sharing characteristics of a bridge arm with multithyristor parallel connection is proposed using a combination of Simplorer with Q3D in ANSYS.The results show that the current-sharing characteristics are excellent. Finally, the structural design has been meticulously tailored to meet the established requirements.
文摘We calculate the scattering cross section of an electron with respect to the spontaneously produced laser radiation in the first free-electron laser (FEL) with quantum-wiggler electrodynamics (QWD). The cross section is 1016 times the Thomson cross section, confirming the result obtained by a previous analysis of the experimental data. A QWD calculation show that spontaneous emission in an FEL using only an electric wiggler can be very strong while amplification through net stimulated emission is practically negligible.
文摘This theory aims beyond the possibilities being available from the Standard Model. Examples are given by the directly obtained rest masses of the elementary particles, the deduced values of the elementary charge and of the mass of the boson detected by CERN which are close to their experimental data, and by an incorporated spin of the photon.
