Through a comprehensive analysis, it is known that the professional knowledge status of western rural teachers is worrying, and the reason is mainly caused by the location, policy, economy, society, continuing education and teachers' own factors.展开更多
With our country’s social development,the gap between urban and rural education has become increasingly obvious,especially the difference in student achievement.This study aims to explore the impact of the urban-rura...With our country’s social development,the gap between urban and rural education has become increasingly obvious,especially the difference in student achievement.This study aims to explore the impact of the urban-rural education gap on student achievement.The study adopts a quantitative analysis method to collect and analyze the academic performance,learning resources,and social resources of urban and rural students.The results show that the unbalanced distribution of educational resources in urban and rural areas is the key factor leading to the gap in students’achievement.For example,urban education resources are abundant while rural education resources are relatively scarce.At the same time,the difference in social environment and family economic status also have a significant impact on student achievement.The differences between urban and rural areas,particularly in terms of family economic conditions and their ability to invest in education,further widen the gap between urban and rural education.The results of this study can provide a reference for reducing the gap between urban and rural education and improving the academic performance of rural students.A fair education policy is essential to narrow the gap between urban and rural education resources distribution,so as to improve the equality of education in society.展开更多

The allocation of public educational resources between urban and rural areas is one of the major topics in education research and is largely influenced by population shifts.Therefore,this study systematically reviews ...The allocation of public educational resources between urban and rural areas is one of the major topics in education research and is largely influenced by population shifts.Therefore,this study systematically reviews the burdens on urban educational resources,the impact on rural education,and the effects of two-way migration between urban and rural areas and illustrates the impact of population migration on urban-rural public educational resource allocation.To address these problems,this study proposes an optimization path that links population and resources with the utilization of big data.It also points out that it is necessary to promote the coordinated urban-rural development strategy,advance school consortium models,and drive the progress of rural schools by leveraging urban school resources.Government departments should increase fiscal transfer payments,gradually deepen the household registration reform,and ease restrictions on migrant children taking high school and college entrance exams in their places of residence.Aimed to promote education equality and improve education quality and effectiveness,this study proposes relevant suggestions.展开更多
Urban dropout among children in developed metropolises has shifted from poverty-driven to system-environment mismatch,with Shanghai facing unique challenges from its elite-oriented education system;resilience is criti...Urban dropout among children in developed metropolises has shifted from poverty-driven to system-environment mismatch,with Shanghai facing unique challenges from its elite-oriented education system;resilience is critical for dropout children's adaptation,but existing research lacks analysis of social support-resilience interactions and international experience integration.A mixed-methods design has been used,including quantitative surveys(n=138)with scales(Child and Youth Resilience Measure-Revised(CYRM-R),Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support(MSPSS))among Shanghai's 10-18-year-old dropout children and qualitative interviews(n=30)with children,parents,teachers,and community workers.This research illustrate that school support and family communication as strongest resilience predictors,self-efficacy as a partial mediator,and digital support moderating community support's effect on migrant children's resilience.Shanghai's support system shows"structural imbalance",and meanwhile optimization requires integrating Thailand's data-driven identification,Finland's personalized learning,and Japan's family-school-community collaboration.展开更多
This paper reports findings from a comparative study of urban vs.rural school principals in China.It is an extension and replication of an earlier study on the profiles and preparation of school leaders in the US and ...This paper reports findings from a comparative study of urban vs.rural school principals in China.It is an extension and replication of an earlier study on the profiles and preparation of school leaders in the US and China.The study illustrates modern portraits-demographic characteristics of urban and rural principals in China,explores their entry perspectives and examines their professional commitment to principalship as a lifelong career.Findings from the comparative study indicate that urban and rural school principals in China differ greatly in their profiles and characteristics.They share similar intrinsic or extrinsic reasons for becoming principals,but they also vary on some key reasons.Unfortunately,most of the principals in our study are not firmly committed to principalship as a lifelong career because of a range of disturbing factors.Findings from this study shed new light on the profiles and preparation of educational leaders in China and offer thoughtful recommendations for change to both Chinese and international education community.展开更多
