This article evaluated the constructivist pedagogical effectiveness of a TM-aided specialized translation project tested on 16 undergraduates at a technological university using student reflections and the questionnaire for qualitative analysis. The results showed that TMs-students-instructor interaction facilitated the learning of specialized translation strategies, meeting the constructivist educational principle of "interaction". In addition, students effectively constructed new translation knowledge through the negotiation of the differences between student and professional translators' translations, concurring with the constructivist educational principle of "conflict resolution". Finally, students successfully learned technical skills of the Trados tool through hands-on practice, and cognitively acquired specialized translation knowledge through reflections writing and oral presentations, fitting the constructivist educational principle of "active participation". Overall, most students' positive responses justified the constructive educational effectiveness of TM-aided specialized translation through TMs consultation, peer help and the instructor support in the self-paced and student-centered learning environment. 展开更多

Ongoing global architectural agendas span climate change, energy,a carbon-neutral society, human comfort,COVID-19,social justice, and sustainability. An architecture studio allows architecture students to learn how to solve complicated environmental issues through integrated thinking and a design process. The U.S.Department of Energy’s Solar Decathlon Design Challenge enables them to broaden their analytic perspectives on numerous subjects and strengthen their integrated thinking of environmental impacts, resilience, sustainability, and well-being.However,the unprecedented impact of the global COVID-19 pandemic transformed the physical studio-based design education system into an online-based learning environment.Mandatory social distancing by the global COVID-19 pandemic restricted interactive discussions and face-to-face collaborations for the integrated zero-energy building design process, which requires features of architecture, engineering, market analysis, durability and resilience, embodied environmental quality, integrated performance, occupant experience, comfort and environmental quality, energy performance, and presentation. This study emphasizes the educational effectiveness of virtual design studios as a part of the discourse on architectural pedagogy of zero-energy building(ZEB)design through integrated designs, technological theories, and analytic skills. The survey results of ten contests show educational achievement with over 90%of the highest positive tendency in the categories of embodied environmental quality and comfort and environmental quality, whereas the positive tendency of educational achievement in the categories of integrated performance, energy performance, and presentation were lower than 70%.The reason for the low percentage of simulation utilization and integrated performance was the lack of a proper understanding of and experience with ZEB simulations and evaluations for undergraduate students.Although VDS is not an ideal pedagogical system for the iterative design critique process,it can support the learning of the value of architectural education, including integrative design thinking,problem-solving skills, numerical simulation techniques, and communicable identities through online discussions and feedback during the COVID-19 pandemic. 展开更多

IntroductionCurrently, there are at least 850,000 people living with human immuno-deficiency virus (HIV) and acquired immuno-deficiency syndrome (AIDS) in China. Among them 16-29 years old account for about 65%. According to the Chinese health authorities, if the preventive measures are not effective, the figure could reach as many as 10 million by the year 2010[1]. Since there are currently no cure or vaccines for HIV/AIDS, changing people's high-risk behaviors is the main approach that is taken to slow down the epidemic. This can be done through effective HIV/AIDS education, especially for young people. In 1997, a 4-year adolescent HIV/AIDS peer education program was introduced to in Beijing and Shanghai, which was based on a successful Australian model developed by Professor Roger Short, in which senior medical students were trained and used as peer educators to teach their junior peers about HIV/AIDS[2].…… 展开更多

This quantitative evaluation is numerical modeling of biomaterial of human body. Measurement for rehabilitation and developing numerical modeling in patients are useful for information technology education with healthcare background. The resistive torque and electromyogram were measured. Electromyogram is the neuronal activity from eight lower limb muscles. Both activities are output signals for angle input signals. The resistive torque of a stroke patient shows a hysteresis curve, and this is a velocity-dependent component, particular for stroke. Differentiated angle by muscle spindle, a velocity-dependent component, is a stretch reflex (spasticity). In an electromyogram of a stroke patient, SLR (stretch reflex via spinal cord) means a short latency reflex, and LLR (stretch reflex via cerebral cortex) means a long latency reflex. An example of some stroke electromyogram shows long latency reflex, and this is voluntary movement during the experiment. The example of some stroke resistive torque reveals that viscoelasticity is used for the intrinsic component. The example of some stroke electromyogram reveals that long latency reflex is used for the reflex component of lower limbs. Current research needs improvement. Intrinsic viscoelasticity is modeled by a second-order differential equation. The reflex component of stroke patients is modeled by a double exponential function. Open source software is in use. Information technology-based analyses by numerical modeling would be applied in future healthcare education. 展开更多

"Acquisition of knowledge is binding on all Muslims" (al-Sunan 1:81 ~224). This Hadith, sayings or actions of the prophet Muhammad (MPBUH)l, indicates that there is no preference based on sex in getting access to education in Islam; however, there is a growing misconception among the people of other religions that Islam constrains Muslim girls from getting education. This paper reviews literature and two authentic sources of Islamic scriptures, which are the Holy Qura'an and the Ahadith to position the girls' education in purview of Islam. It further examines the possible reasons for conflicting interpretations of Islamic teachings. It concludes that Islam does not restrict girls from getting education. It recommends further systematic studies for exploring the reasons for the projection of distorted images of Islam. 展开更多

Safety in production is an insurmountable red bottom line for every enterprise. The guarantee of safety in production lies in both material factors and human factors. The most important and basic part of this factor is safety education. Safety education and training are in place, safety education knowledge is effectively instilled, and the content and carrier of safety education and training are practical, which is both the foundation and the focus. Therefore, it is necessary to establish a safety education and training mechanism in order to maintain the orderly development of the production and operation of enterprises. Only effective safety education, training and training methods break through the traditional mode, can employees carry out safety production based on their posts, and protecting themselves is one of the important factors of safety. 展开更多

When incorporating new technology into medical curricula,it is essential to evaluate student success and resource preference. Our team created a database of virtual 3D scanned prosections for students to use while studying Gross Anatomy.Incoming first year medical students were recruited to take part in a study examining the effectiveness and preference for this resource. The study was conducted in four parts:first,a pre-test using physical prosections and images of virtual 3D scans of prosections;second,a teaching session using physical prosections or virtual 3D scans of prosections;third,a post-test identical to the pre-test;forth,a posttest survey.Twenty-nine students participated in this study(physical prosection teaching group[physical]=15;virtual 3D scans teaching group[virtual]=14).Exam scores significantly increased in both groups regardless of past anatomy experience with no significance found between groups(physical=42.6%±17.9%;virtual=44.3%±24.0%;P<0.01).Students taught using the virtual 3D scans were more likely to agree that they“would be able to sufficiently learn anatomy using 3D scans”(physical=3.0±0.8;virtual=4.1±1.1;P<0.01).Regardless of teaching group, students disagreed that they“would have a similar lab experience if they learned 3D scans instead of dissection”(physical=2.1±0.6;virtual=2.5±0.8),but agreed that they would use the virtual 3D scans to prepare for the dissection lab and practical/written exam(physical=4.5±0.8;virtual=4.9±0.3).This study demonstrates that virtual 3D scans are comparable to physical prosections in anatomy learning, but students do not support this resource replacing the dissection process. 展开更多

With the adoption of competency reconstructing path of functional analysis in the organizational behavior theory, and the consideration of the core mission and attributes of educational organizations plus the urgency for digital transformation, this paper concludes four pillar competencies for teachers:curriculum development and teaching competency,human-computer collaboration competency, effective moral education competency, and self-growth competency. From the perspective of supporting the digital transformation in education, curriculum development and teaching competency is the premise and guarantee of“learning-centered”;and human-computer collaboration competency is the transformation direction of teachers’information and communications technology capabilities in smart environments;effective moral education competency determines the primary role of teachers in the process of digital transformation;and self-growth competency is the purpose and means of digital existence.Teacher education needs to face up to the current problems in teacher capacity development and reshape teacher education around the core competencies required by digital transformation. 展开更多
