Does traditional Chinese economic thought possess genuine analytical rigor?This question lies at the heart of any serious evaluation of its theoretical value and historical significance.It also matters for understandi...Does traditional Chinese economic thought possess genuine analytical rigor?This question lies at the heart of any serious evaluation of its theoretical value and historical significance.It also matters for understanding how best to preserve,build on its remarkable achievements,and develop its intellectual legacy.Critics such as Schumpeter and Taylor have long argued that the economic reasoning found in ancient China cannot compare with that of classical Greece or medieval Europe.Yet this view often reflects the narrow assumptions of mainstream economics,defining analysis almost entirely in terms of market exchange.As a result,it tends to overlook traditions built around statecraft,governance,and the management of economic order.A careful re-examination and Sino-Western comparative analysis of key thinkers-including Mencius,Guanzi,and Sima Qian-tells a different story.Rooted in China’s distinctive cultural and philosophical heritage,traditional Chinese economic thought not only contains the analytical dimensions(as defined by Schumpeter)but also displays a broader and more diverse set of economic reasoning.Notably,its systematic depth and intellectual precision were,in many respects,remarkably advanced.Therefore,advancing the construction of a Chinese school of economics in the new era under the framework of the“Second Integration”,i.e.,integrating the basic tenets of Marxism with China’s fine traditional culture,should,and indeed can draw essential insights from this analytical tradition.展开更多

Rapid urbanization has contributed to global increases in air pollution derived from urban areas.Unlike natural forests,urban forests are exposed to higher concentrations of airborne pollutants due to the strong urban...Rapid urbanization has contributed to global increases in air pollution derived from urban areas.Unlike natural forests,urban forests are exposed to higher concentrations of airborne pollutants due to the strong urban-suburban-rural pollutant emission gradients.However,there remains a pressing lack of available information pertaining to the urban air pollutionrelated effects on the leaf economics spectrum,anatomical,ultrastructural,and stomatal traits of tree species along an urban-rural gradient.Here,the degree to which urban air pollution impacts the adaption of greening tree species and associated service functions was assessed by sampling five common tree species(Acer pictum,Fraxinus chinensis,Koelreuteria paniculata,Salix babylonica,Sophora japonica)along urban-rural-natural forests in the Beijing metropolitan region of China.These analyses revealed a significant reduction in leaf mass per unit area(-13.4%),leaf thickness(-16.7%),and stomatal area(-27.5%)with increasing proximity to areas of greater air pollution that coincide with significant increases in leaf tissue density(+12.6%),leaf nitrogen content(+10.1%),relative chlorophyll content(+2.7%),and stomatal density(+11.9%).Higher air pollution levels were associated with organelle changes including gradual disintegration of chloroplasts,larger intercellular spaces and apparent starch and plastoglobuli deposition.Air pollutionwas conducive to the strengthening of the trade-off potential and adaptation strategies of trees in urban ecosystems,which are associated with trees with a rapid investment return strategy associated with thick leaves and strong photosynthetic capacity.These results provide strong empirical evidence of the profound air pollution-induced changes in leaf functional traits and adaption ability of urban forest tree species.展开更多
The Internet of Things(IoT)technology offers significant advancements in fitness trackers and AI-driven health management systems and presents practical applications for monitoring health and performance.New energy co...The Internet of Things(IoT)technology offers significant advancements in fitness trackers and AI-driven health management systems and presents practical applications for monitoring health and performance.New energy composites,which improve the performance of traditional metals,have been widely used in automotive manufacturing but have limited application in the sports industry.To bridge this gap,the study proposes integrating these advanced composites into sports equipment and facilities,utilizing IoT technology as the foundation for intelligent health monitoring.The research explores how IoT technology can enhance the promotional impact of fitness equipment within the sports industry.Additionally,the communication process for data assessment is conducted using the Priority-based Congestion-avoidance Routing Protocol(PCRP)to ensure efficient data transmission.The analysis of sports activities is performed by utilizing the data transferred through PCRP.Experimental results show that the proposed mechanism outperforms conventional models,achieving an energy efficiency of 0.502 joules(J),a delay of 0.407 seconds(s),and a throughput of 0.620.These results demonstrate the potential of combining IoT technology and new energy composites to revolutionize sports equipment and enhance fitness monitoring systems.These findings highlight the potential of combining IoT and advanced composite materials to revolutionize sports equipment,improve fitness monitoring,and contribute to the growth of the sports industry through enhanced data management and energy-efficient technologies.展开更多

Inland aquaculture represents a significant component of the aquaculture sector in Brazil.This activity is present in all Brazilian regions,yet the economic feasibility and the relationship between their productive va...Inland aquaculture represents a significant component of the aquaculture sector in Brazil.This activity is present in all Brazilian regions,yet the economic feasibility and the relationship between their productive variables and profitability indices remain poorly accessed in Brazil's semi-arid regions.This study aims to characterise,assess the economic feasibility,and evaluate the relationship between productive variables and profitability indices in the aquaculture sector in Feira Nova(Northeast Brazil).The data was collected through interviews with all producers in Feira Nova city and modelled using the software R.The aquaculture sector in Feira Nova is predominantly small-scale and encompasses a wide range of production strategies for shrimp and fish cultures,with profitable outcomes.The models demonstrated that economic and management variables were more closely associated with profitability indices than farm characteristics such as farm size.Feira Nova's profitability indices reinforces the small-scale aquaculture as a promising activity to alleviate poverty and generate wealth in Brazil semi-arid regions.However,governance improvements are necessary to boost the development of inland aquaculture in the country.展开更多
