Ensuring a harmonious coexistence between man and nature is crucial for China’s economic and social development.However,with increasing industrialization and urbanization,there is a growing mismatch between China’s ...Ensuring a harmonious coexistence between man and nature is crucial for China’s economic and social development.However,with increasing industrialization and urbanization,there is a growing mismatch between China’s ecological resilience(ER)and economic level(EL)of development,which poses a notable social threat.Currently,the link between ER and EL in China remains unclear,especially in terms of spatial dislocation(SD),referring to the disconnect between the locations where environmental impacts occur and those where economic benefits or activities are concentrated.Therefore,this paper aims to provide theoretical support and an empirical basis for policy-based solutions to address this gap.Based on the SD theory,this study systematically discusses the temporal changes,spatial patterns,and SD characteristics of China’s ER and EL using spatial auto-correlation and barycentric analysis to analyze data from 30 provinces covering the period 2011-2021.The key results are as follows.China’s ER shows a general trend of growth;however,its distribution is uneven.The spatial pattern generally decreases from the southeastern coastal provinces to the northwest.Moreover,a gradually increasing positive correlation is observed between the ER and EL,but this correlation varies by region,with some showing regional linkages and others developing independently.Finally,the dislocation index of ER and EL presents divergent results based on region-the eastern and central regions primarily show a high level of dislocation,whereas the western and northeastern regions show a low level of dislocation.The results provide a comprehensive overview of the spatiotemporal patterns in the association between ER and EL in China.The results emphasize that to balance sustainable regional development and ecological governance,a region-specific approach must be employed,prioritizing innovation-driven strategies for high ER in more developed regions and market-oriented strategies in less developed regions.展开更多

And the study was carried out on decoupling degree and temporal changes of economic development level and resource and environment carrying ca- pacity in the central area of Yunnan Province. Results indicated that (i) the economic development level and resource and environment carrying capacity in the central area of Yunnan Province mainly experienced strong decoupling, weak decoupling, and ex- pansive negative coupling, and in general it was strong decoupling, and it took on re- verse "N" in temporal changes. (ii) Change rate of economic development level in the central area of Yunnan Province was greater than zero, but the amplitude of change was not large, while the change rate of resource and environment carrying capacity was negative in 2007-2008, and it was positive in the rest years; from 2007, it took on gradual expansion trend, and scissors difference gradually increased after experi- encing reverse "V" change. Studies on the correlation between socio-economic development and eco...With the rapid changes of demographic and socio-economic structure, various ecological and environmental problems have emerged in peri-urban areas. Studies on the correlation between socio-economic development and eco-environmental preservation are inadequate. This paper analyzes the landscape pattern of peri-urban areas to address this issue. First, it studies the differentiation of economic development levels in Beijing peri-urban areas. Then, it explores the correlation between economic development level of each town and its landscape pattern using Pearson Correlation and grade difference indices. Furthermore, it summarizes the problems within current landscape pattern. Three conclusions are drawn from the analysis: (1) on the whole, the economic de- velopment level in Beijing peri-urban areas basically matches with landscape pattern; (2) landscape contagion degree decreases with the growth of economic development level in as much as 30% of Beijing peri-urban areas. This is an irrational phenomenon accord- ing to our judgment; (3) landscape fragmentation grades in more than half of the towns are higher than their economic development grades, suggesting that attention should be paid to excessive fragmentation of land use.展开更多

Climate change and human activities have led to desertification and decreased land productivity,significantly affecting human livelihoods in desert regions.Identifying suitable areas for cultivating economic and nativ...Climate change and human activities have led to desertification and decreased land productivity,significantly affecting human livelihoods in desert regions.Identifying suitable areas for cultivating economic and native plants based on ecological capacity,biological restoration,and risk management can be valuable tools for combating desertification.In this study,we identified suitable areas for the growth of economic and medicinal Moringa peregrina trees in desert regions of Sistan and Baluchestan Province,southern Iran,using library research and field methods.We also assessed the economic involvement of local communities in areas under different topographic conditions(namely flat area,undulating area,rolling area,moderately sloping area,and steep area)in the study area.Financial indicators such as the net present value(NPV),benefit-cost ratio(BCR),internal rate of return(IRR),and return on investment(ROI)were calculated for areas under various topographic conditions in the study area.The rolling area with results of NPV(6142.75 USD),IRR(103.38),BCR(5.38),and ROI(in the 3rd year)was the best region for investing and cultivating M.peregrina.The minimum economic level varied from 0.80 hm2 in the flat area to 21.60 hm2 in the steep area.Also,approximately 5,314,629.51 hm2 of desert lands in the study area were deemed suitable for M.peregrina cultivation,benefiting around 1,743,246 households in the study area.Cultivating M.peregrina in southern Iran can positively affect local communities and help preserve land from erosion.Our study will provide theoretical support for planting native species in other degraded desert regions to enhance ecosystem services and the well-being of indigenous populations.展开更多

However, no in-depth researches have been made on how to solve this problem. Using data from Henan Province, China,employing geographical detector technology, this paper focuses on testing whether the industry-university-research cooperation can contribute to coordinating the relation between regional innovation and economic development. It is shown that: 1) the industry-universityresearch cooperation in Henan Province is increasing gradually, and the network presents a core-edge structure, and the coupling degree between regional innovation and economic development is spatially unbalanced, which is similar to the spatial distribution of the intensity of industry-university-research cooperation;2) as an important approach to effectively connect scientific researches with market demands, the industry-university-research cooperation can help form an interactive, interconnected, coupled and coordinated virtuous relation between regional innovation and economic development. Compared with the cooperation between organizations of the same type and the separate innovation of organizations, the improvement of the industry-university-research cooperation level can better coordinate the relation between regional innovation and economic development;3) the cooperative innovation model between enterprises and universities can better promote the coupling between regional innovation and economic development, compared with many industryuniversity-research cooperation models. Accelerating the transition from old to new economic drivers(TONED)is fundamental to building a modernized economic system,and the digital economy(DE)has the potential to expedite this process.This study uses panel da...Accelerating the transition from old to new economic drivers(TONED)is fundamental to building a modernized economic system,and the digital economy(DE)has the potential to expedite this process.This study uses panel data that encompassed 273 prefecturelevel cities in China from 2011 to 2020,to empirically examine the effect and underlying mechanisms of the DE on the TONED.The findings indicate that both the DE and TONED exhibit a distinct spatial differentiation,characterized by significantly higher development in the eastern regions compared to the western regions.Furthermore,the robustness test conducted to address the endogeneity problem verifies that DE has a significant positive driving effect on the TONED.In addition,industrial structure upgrading is a significant channel for DE to influence the TONED.Under the constraint of the level of economic development,DE exhibits a non-linear impact on the TONED,and the marginal effect is incremental after passing a specific threshold.Moreover,in the eastern region,non-resource cities,and urban agglomeration areas,DE has a more significant favorable effect on the TONED.The findings provide robust empirical evidence supporting the role of the DE in facilitating the TONED and offer valuable policy insights for developing countries aiming to advance economic transformation.展开更多
A total of 10 indices of regional economic development in Guangxi are selected.According to the relevant economic data,regional economic development in Guangxi is analyzed by using System Clustering Method and Princip...A total of 10 indices of regional economic development in Guangxi are selected.According to the relevant economic data,regional economic development in Guangxi is analyzed by using System Clustering Method and Principal Component Analysis Method.Result shows that System Clustering Method and Principal Component Analysis Method have revealed similar results analysis of economic development level.Overall economic strength of Guangxi is weak and Nanning has relatively high scores of factors due to its advantage of the political,economic and cultural center.Comprehensive scores of other regions are all lower than 1,which has big gap with the development of Nanning.Overall development strategy points out that Guangxi should accelerate the construction of the Ring Northern Bay Economic Zone,create a strong logistics system having strategic significance to national development,use the unique location advantage and rely on the modern transportation system to establish a logistics center and business center connecting the hinterland and the Asean Market.Based on the problems of unbalanced regional economic development in Guangxi,we should speed up the development of service industry in Nanning,construct the circular economy system of industrial city,and accelerate the industrialization process of tourism city in order to realize balanced development of regional economy in Guangxi,China.展开更多

Utilizing the latest data product provided by the European Space Agency (ESA), this paper an alyzes annual trends and spatiotemporal variati ons in cropla nd area and discusses cropla nd con version, I osses, and in creases globally between 1992 and 2015 at a 300 m resoluti on. The results show that the global area of cropla nd in creased rapidly between 1992 and 2004, more slowly between 2004 and 2012, and began to decrease gradually since 2012. First, an increasing trend in cropland area has been maintained solely in Africa;all other regions are characterized by decreasing trends in later periods despite different transition points and change rates. A reduction in cropland area frequently emerged earlier in high-income countries. Second, increase rates in cropland area have largely decreased in recent years while the overall rate of loss has remained almost the same. Hotspot areas of global cropland increases are mainly concentrated around the edge of the Amazon forest, Eurasian Steppe, and Sahara Desert. These hotspot areas of global cropland loss shifted from Europe to Asia while built-up areas have expanded at the expense of cropland.展开更多

文摘Accelerating the transition from old to new economic drivers(TONED)is fundamental to building a modernized economic system,and the digital economy(DE)has the potential to expedite this process.This study uses panel data that encompassed 273 prefecturelevel cities in China from 2011 to 2020,to empirically examine the effect and underlying mechanisms of the DE on the TONED.The findings indicate that both the DE and TONED exhibit a distinct spatial differentiation,characterized by significantly higher development in the eastern regions compared to the western regions.Furthermore,the robustness test conducted to address the endogeneity problem verifies that DE has a significant positive driving effect on the TONED.In addition,industrial structure upgrading is a significant channel for DE to influence the TONED.Under the constraint of the level of economic development,DE exhibits a non-linear impact on the TONED,and the marginal effect is incremental after passing a specific threshold.Moreover,in the eastern region,non-resource cities,and urban agglomeration areas,DE has a more significant favorable effect on the TONED.The findings provide robust empirical evidence supporting the role of the DE in facilitating the TONED and offer valuable policy insights for developing countries aiming to advance economic transformation.
文摘A total of 10 indices of regional economic development in Guangxi are selected.According to the relevant economic data,regional economic development in Guangxi is analyzed by using System Clustering Method and Principal Component Analysis Method.Result shows that System Clustering Method and Principal Component Analysis Method have revealed similar results analysis of economic development level.Overall economic strength of Guangxi is weak and Nanning has relatively high scores of factors due to its advantage of the political,economic and cultural center.Comprehensive scores of other regions are all lower than 1,which has big gap with the development of Nanning.Overall development strategy points out that Guangxi should accelerate the construction of the Ring Northern Bay Economic Zone,create a strong logistics system having strategic significance to national development,use the unique location advantage and rely on the modern transportation system to establish a logistics center and business center connecting the hinterland and the Asean Market.Based on the problems of unbalanced regional economic development in Guangxi,we should speed up the development of service industry in Nanning,construct the circular economy system of industrial city,and accelerate the industrialization process of tourism city in order to realize balanced development of regional economy in Guangxi,China.

文摘Correlated increases in population and dema nd for food over rece nt decades have caused remarkable changes in cropland area globally. Utilizing the latest data product provided by the European Space Agency (ESA), this paper an alyzes annual trends and spatiotemporal variati ons in cropla nd area and discusses cropla nd con version, I osses, and in creases globally between 1992 and 2015 at a 300 m resoluti on. The results show that the global area of cropla nd in creased rapidly between 1992 and 2004, more slowly between 2004 and 2012, and began to decrease gradually since 2012. First, an increasing trend in cropland area has been maintained solely in Africa;all other regions are characterized by decreasing trends in later periods despite different transition points and change rates. A reduction in cropland area frequently emerged earlier in high-income countries. Second, increase rates in cropland area have largely decreased in recent years while the overall rate of loss has remained almost the same. Hotspot areas of global cropland increases are mainly concentrated around the edge of the Amazon forest, Eurasian Steppe, and Sahara Desert. These hotspot areas of global cropland loss shifted from Europe to Asia while built-up areas have expanded at the expense of cropland.
