Africa is embracing new opportunities featured with industrialization,urbanization and regionalization.Based on co-development of‘Electricity,Mining,Metallurgy,Industry and Trade’and grids interconnection proposed b...Africa is embracing new opportunities featured with industrialization,urbanization and regionalization.Based on co-development of‘Electricity,Mining,Metallurgy,Industry and Trade’and grids interconnection proposed by Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization(GEIDCO),the high-quality hydropower resource of the Congo River can be exploited in large scale under the wide-range interconnected framework of African Energy Interconnection(AEI),forging a new engine for Africa economy.The transmission distance of the Congo River hydropower reaches 6,000 km at its farthest end in North Africa,which brings forth challenges to economics of proposed projects.Under this novel continental energy interconnection scheme in Africa,economics of those projects have not yet been in detail studied.This paper has implemented China’s mature engineering experiences and analytical tools of UHVDC project planning into the AEI structure,through exploring the economic behavior of ultra-long distance UHVDC projects in the scope of conductor selection in the Congo River hydropower transmission for the first time,and has provided concerned parties with a technical and analytical results of their economics comparison.This paper has chosen the D.R.Congo-Guinea±800 kV UHVDC project as a typical example.Its preliminary system planning is introduced and three types of conductor are selected for scheme comparison.Later in this paper,the transmission loss,total investment and equivalent annual cost of the project have been calculated and analyzed.In the final part,sensitivity analysis results of the annual cost to utilization hours,transmission loss,loss tariff and construction cost has been provided.展开更多

This paper presents a techno-economic investigation of an integrated rooftop solar PV system for typical home applications in Oman that can reduce the power consumption from the grid and export excess PV generated pow...This paper presents a techno-economic investigation of an integrated rooftop solar PV system for typical home applications in Oman that can reduce the power consumption from the grid and export excess PV generated power back to the gird.Since renewable energy systems design technically depends on the site,this study selects a typical two-story villa(Home),in a site Al-Hamra,Oman.Temperature is one of the critical parameters in this design as it varies widely over the day and from one season to another in Oman.With the effect of temperature variation,the PV system has designed using system models for the required load of the home.The design process has included two main design constraints,such as the available rooftop space and the grid-connection availability for the selected home.This research also evaluates the economic feasibility of the design system considering the energy export tariff as per the Bulk Supply Tariff(BST)scheme in Oman.The design outcome reveals that the designed PV system can supply the load energy requirement in a year.In addition,the rooftop solar PV system can sell surplus energy back to the grid that generates additional revenue for the owner of the system.The economic performance indices such as payback period,internal rate of return,net present value,and profitability index ensure the financial feasibility of the designed rooftop solar PV system for the selected home.展开更多

To reach at economic practicability of solar energy sources, Jordan needs to accelerate the development of the national photovoltaic projects. The economic and financial analysis of the 75 MW Photovoltaic Project for Jordan is presented in this paper. Comparing analysis considers, seven different scenarios regarding the type of the modules and of the mounting system as well as three different cases to further evaluate the effects of land requirements based on an equivalent installed capacity. Based on the analyzed scenarios, it was found that the project will serve as a "fuel saver", as the energy generated at the Jordan Photovoltaic Project replaces energy generated at the thermal plant with the highest variable costs in the grid. This replacement has it, which avoids the CO2 emissions associated with thermal generation, as the further advantage.展开更多

To effectively facilitate the low-carbon transition of energy and power systems,it is imperative to not only design transition paths at the macro level,but also conduct system feasibility analysis at the operation lev...To effectively facilitate the low-carbon transition of energy and power systems,it is imperative to not only design transition paths at the macro level,but also conduct system feasibility analysis at the operation level.This study proposes a comprehensive analytical methodology for evaluating the lowcarbon transition pathways of the power system.Based on the model built and paths designed in Part I of the paper,Part II extends the analysis by conducting a production simulation of the power system under various predefined scenarios,thereby validating the electric power and energy balance.The flexibility and resilience of the power system operation are evaluated under both normal and extreme weather conditions.Furthermore,the economic viability of different transition paths is compared,and the impacts of multiple factors on the annualized cost of each path are examined through sensitivity analysis.Together with Part I,this paper achieves the soft-linking of bottom-up power system operation simulation and economic analysis to topdown development scenario design,providing support for the rationality and feasibility verification of macro transition paths of China’s power system towards carbon neutrality by 2060.展开更多
Fundamental research and economic analysis of hydrate-based carbon dioxide(CO_(2))sequestration play a key role in developing the industrialization of oceanic CO_(2) sequestration.Therefore,this review deals with rece...Fundamental research and economic analysis of hydrate-based carbon dioxide(CO_(2))sequestration play a key role in developing the industrialization of oceanic CO_(2) sequestration.Therefore,this review deals with recent progress in hydrate-based CO_(2) sequestration from the thermodynamics and kinetics as well as their energy consumption and cost.The first section provides an overview of the thermodynamics of CO_(2) hydrate formation in both pure water and sea water,establishing a relationship between the enthalpy change of the hydrate formation reaction and the hydrate structure.Subsequently,a comparison of the kinetics of CO_(2) hydrate formation in pure water and sea water is presented,with further insight into the formation kinetics obtained through hydrate nucleation and growth models.The process of liquid CO_(2) forming hydrates is summarized,serving as a critical part of the fundamental research for oceanic CO_(2) sequestration.Finally,energy consumption and cost of CO_(2) capture methods are compared,and the whole sequestration process cost of CO_(2) capture-storage-transport-injection is comprehensively analyzed.The new understanding of this review is conducive to further commercial and industrial development of hydratebased CO_(2) sequestration.展开更多

文摘Fundamental research and economic analysis of hydrate-based carbon dioxide(CO_(2))sequestration play a key role in developing the industrialization of oceanic CO_(2) sequestration.Therefore,this review deals with recent progress in hydrate-based CO_(2) sequestration from the thermodynamics and kinetics as well as their energy consumption and cost.The first section provides an overview of the thermodynamics of CO_(2) hydrate formation in both pure water and sea water,establishing a relationship between the enthalpy change of the hydrate formation reaction and the hydrate structure.Subsequently,a comparison of the kinetics of CO_(2) hydrate formation in pure water and sea water is presented,with further insight into the formation kinetics obtained through hydrate nucleation and growth models.The process of liquid CO_(2) forming hydrates is summarized,serving as a critical part of the fundamental research for oceanic CO_(2) sequestration.Finally,energy consumption and cost of CO_(2) capture methods are compared,and the whole sequestration process cost of CO_(2) capture-storage-transport-injection is comprehensively analyzed.The new understanding of this review is conducive to further commercial and industrial development of hydratebased CO_(2) sequestration.
