The application of ecological building materials in architectural design is in line with the concept of green development and can promote the transformation and upgrading of the construction industry.Against this background,this article systematically explains the definition,characteristics,and classification of ecological building materials,and discusses the selection criteria and application scenarios of ecological building materials.On the basis of the previous analysis,the article proposes that the application of ecological building materials in architectural design needs to do a good job in the integration of materials,system expression,digital synergy,and total life cycle management.Thus,it expands the application scenarios of ecological building materials in architectural design and helps the industry to develop sustainably. 展开更多

This study is aimed to investigate and analyze the ecological technology around ecological environment resources of engineering in Taiwan. In Taiwan, the natural and artificial material applied in the ecological technology in internal currently, usually lack of evaluation for applicative conditions. Hence, this study carried on the whole research and identifications to draft the eco-materials of ecological technology. The evaluation models of applied materials for ecological technology were proposed. The quantitative score were obtained by expert's person evaluation. Three models were proposed to quantify the effects of applied materials on the ecological environment. The statistical procedures were adopted to compare the performance of these materials for ecological technology. The results indicated that the comparison of applied materials can be treated by quantitative analysis. For the further analysis, more evaluated data from expert's experience need to be collected then the bias of person subject can be reduced. In addition to reach the benefits in the respects of ecosystem, society, economy and function, also practice the comprehensive effects in ecological technology. 展开更多

The objective of this study is to seek solutions to reduce the impact of buildings on climate change and to promote the use of local bio-sourced or geo-sourced materials for sustainable construction. Different samples of raw earth from 3 sites were taken in the commune of Mlomp. Geotechnical tests showed that the raw earth samples from sites 2 and 3 have more clay fraction while site 1 contains more sand. The fact of integrating fibers from crushed palm leaves (Borassus aethiopum) (2%, 4% and 6%) into the 3 raw earth samples reduced the mechanical resistance to compression and traction of the 3 raw earths. The experimental results of thermal tests on samples of earth mixtures with crushed Palma leaf fibers show a decrease in thermal conductivity as well as thermal effusivity as the percentages increase (2%, 4% and 6%) of fibers in raw earth for the 3 sites. This shows that this renewable composite material can help improve the thermal insulation of building envelopes. 展开更多

To avoid the old road of urban development with high consumption and high pollution,this paper took the houses in a village near Yinchuan(a typical city of Northwest China)as an exemplary project to explore the appropriate strategies in the arid cold climate for the sustainable development in rural undeveloped areas Northwest China.Firstly,all houses were designed according to the principles of passive solar heating.Secondly,optimized biomass energy technologies such as biogas pit and straw gasification stove were utilized for cooking or heating.Last but not the least important,the ecological building materials such as earth,straw bale,fly ash were used to construct houses,which improves the indoor thermal comfort and meanwhile lowers the negative impact on the environment.Low costs,easy accessibility and habitants'inclination were taken into account in the process of design. 展开更多

Experimental Study on a Feasible Bio-Insulation Material for Buildings Taken Reed and Raw Soil as Resources

In response to the challenges posed by the transformation of China's reed industry,leading to difficulties in reed utilization,and the significant increment in raw soil from the expansion of urban infrastructure,the authors proposed a novel method of coupling reed with raw soil to produce an ecological building insulation material.The aim is to enhance the thermal comfort of rural buildings and achieve building energy saving.The research has applied theoretical and experimental methods as the core means of exploration for key factors in the preparation of the novel ecological insulation material.These factors include raw soil content and curing methods.Key performance indicators such as thermal insulation,mechanical properties,fire resistance,water resistance,moisture resistance,and acoustic performance have been utilized for evaluation.The research results indicate that the proposed process and method for the preparation of the ecological insulation material effectively utilize reed and raw soil,achieving excellent multi-target performance.When the content of raw soil is in the range of 0-40%,the material's thermal conductivity ranges from 0.097 W/(m·K)to 0.104 W/(m·K),compressive strength from0.70 MPa to 0.79 MPa,water absorption rate from 29.42%to 38.95%,moisture absorption rate from 13.33%to31.48%,and the maximum sound absorption coefficient is 0.80,with a maximum sound insulation of 56.66 dB.Additionally,a non-combustible A-grade fire resistance was achieved.To expand the application space and scope of the novel material,the research team further explored on-site construction material preparation processes and conducted experimental research,focusing on the key aspect of the"curing process".The low temperature curing method of industrial heating blanket was proposed.The research results indicated that the method is feasible.At an environmental temperature of 25℃,with different curing times and curing temperatures,the material's thermal conductivity ranges from 0.089 W/(m·K)to 0.109 W/(m·K),and the compressive strength is between 0.14 MPa and 0.70 MPa,meeting the relevant parameter requirements.This research opens up avenues for other types of biomass with high economic added value applications and can be directly applied to improving the thermal environment of residential buildings,contributing to building energy saving,rural revitalization,and the implementation of dual-carbon strategies in China. 展开更多
