In the railway industry, re-adhesion control plays an important role in attenuating the slip occurrence due to the low adhesion condition in the wheel-rail inter- action. Braking and traction forces depend on the normal force and adhesion coefficient at the wheel-rail contact area. Due to the restrictions on controlling normal force, the only way to increase the tractive or braking effect is to maximize the adhesion coefficient. Through efficient uti- lization of adhesion, it is also possible to avoid wheel-rail wear and minimize the energy consumption. The adhesion between wheel and rail is a highly nonlinear function of many parameters like environmental conditions, railway vehicle speed and slip velocity. To estimate these unknown parameters accurately is a very hard and competitive challenge. The robust adaptive control strategy presented in this paper is not only able to suppress the wheel slip in time, but also maximize the adhesion utilization perfor- mance after re-adhesion process even if the wheel-rail contact mechanism exhibits significant adhesion uncer- tainties and/or nonlinearities. Using an optimal slip velocity seeking algorithm, the proposed strategy provides a satisfactory slip velocity tracking ability, which was demonstrated able to realize the desired slip velocity without experiencing any instability problem. The control torque of the traction motor was regulated continuously to drive the railway vehicle in the neighborhood of the opti- mal adhesion point and guarantee the best traction capacity after re-adhesion process by making the railway vehicle operate away from the unstable region. The results obtained from the adaptive approach based on the second- order sliding mode observer have been confirmed through theoretical analysis and numerical simulation conducted in MATLAB and Simulink with a full traction model under various wheel-rail conditions. 展开更多

In order to reduce the wheel profile wear of highspeed trains and extend the service life of wheels, a dynamic model for a high-speed vehicle was set up, in which the wheelset was regarded as flexible body, and the actual measured track irregularities and line conditions were considered. The wear depth of the wheel profile was calculated by the well-known Archard wear law. Through this model, the influence of the wheel profile, primary suspension stiffness, track gage, and rail cant on the wear of wheel profile were studied through multiple iterafive calculations. Numerical simulation results show that the type XP55 wheel profile has the smallest cumulative wear depth, and the type LM wheel profile has the largest wear depth. To reduce the wear of the wheel profile, the equivalent conicity of the wheel should not be too large or too small. On the other hand, a small primary vertical stiffness, a track gage around 1,435-1,438 mm, and a rail cant around 1:35-1:40 are beneficial for dynamic performance improvement and wheel wear alleviation. 展开更多

Large-scale space membrane antennas have significant potential in satellite communication,space-based early warning, and Earth observation.Because of their large size and high flexibility, the dynamic analysis and control of membrane antenna are challenging. To maintain the working performance of the antenna, the pointing and surface accuracies must be strictly maintained. Therefore, the accurate dynamic modeling and effective active control of large-scale space membrane antennas have great theoretical significance and practical value, and have attracted considerable interest in recent years. This paper reviews the dynamics and active control of large-scale space membrane antennas.First, the development and status of large-scale space membrane antennas are summarized.Subsequently, the key problems in the dynamics and active control of large membrane antennas, including the dynamics of wrinkled membranes,large-amplitude nonlinear vibration, nonlinear model reduction,rigid-flexible-thermal coupling dynamic modeling,on-orbit modal parameter identification, active vibration control, and wave-based vibration control, are discussed in detail. Finally, the research outlook and future trends are presented. 展开更多
