Based on the unified Hauser–Feshbach and exciton model,which can describe the particle emission processes between discrete energy levels with energy,angular momentum,and parity conservations,a statistical theory of light nucleus reaction(STLN)is developed to calculate the double-differential cross-sections of the outgoing neutron and light charged particles for the proton-induced^(6) Li reaction.A significant difference is observed between the p+^(6) Li and p+^(7) Li reactions owing to the discrepancies in the energy-level structures of the targets.The reaction channels,including sequential and simultaneous emission processes,are analyzed in detail.Taking the double-differential cross-sections of the outgoing proton as an example,the influence of contaminations(such as^(1) H,^(7)Li,^(12)C,and^(16)O)on the target is identified in terms of the kinetic energy of the first emitted particles.The optical potential parameters of the proton are obtained by fitting the elastic scattering differential cross-sections.The calculated total double-differential cross-sections of the outgoing proton and deuteron at E_(p)=14 MeV agree well with the experimental data for different outgoing angles.Simultaneously,the mixed double differential cross-sections of^(3) He andαare in good agreement with the measurements.The agreement between the measured data and calculated results indicates that the two-body and three-body breakup reactions need to be considered,and the pre-equilibrium reaction mechanism dominates the reaction processes.Based on the STLN model,a PLUNF code for the p+^(6) Li reaction is developed to obtain an ENDF-6-formatted file of the double-differential cross-sections of the nucleon and light composite charged particles. 展开更多

Based on the light nucleus reaction model (Nucl. Sci. Eng. 133 (1999) 218), four aspects (neutron incident energy region, reaction channel analysis, the renewed level schemes and the optical model parameters) of n+ ^12 C reaction are improved to calculate total outgoing neutron double-dilferential cross sections with modified LUNF code below 30 MeV. The calculated results agree fairly well with the experimental data at En = 14.1 MeV and 18 MeV. The analysis shows that the pre-equilibrium mechanism, which is exactly considered the conservation of energy, momentum and parity, dominates the whole reaction process. The contribution of the neutron emission from 5He to total energy- angular spectra is also considered properly. This modified LUNF code will be a useful tool to set up the file of neutron double-differential crass sections below 30 Me V in the neutron evaluation nuclear data library. 展开更多

A new light nuclear reaction model has been developed and the double-differential measurements of lp shell nuclei have been analyzed successfully. Now, the application of this model is expanded to 19F of the 2s-ld shell nucleus. The double-differential cross section of total outgoing neutron for n +^19F reactions at En=14.2 MeV has been calculated and analyzed, which agrees fairly well with the experimental measurements. In this paper, the contributions from different reaction channels to the double-differential cross sections have been analyzed in detail. The calculations indicate that this light nudear reaction model is also able to be used for the 2s-ld shell nucleus so long as the related level scheme couM be provided sufficiently. 展开更多

In order to describe the 5He emission, the theoretical formula of the double-differential cross s... The probability of 5He particle emission has been affirmed theoretically [J.S. Zhang, Science in China G47 (2004) 137]. In order to describe the 5He emission, the theoretical formula of the double-differential cross section of emitted 5He is to be established. Based on the pick-up mechanism, used for calculating the formula of d, t, 3He, α emissions, the theoretical formula of double-differential cross section of 5 He is obtained, which is expressed in the form of Legendre coefficients. In the case of low incident energies, the configuration [J.S. Zhang, Science in China G47 (2004)137; J.S. Zhang, Commun. Theor. Phys. (Beijing, China) 39 (2003) 83] is the dominant part in the reaction processes.The calculated result indicates that the forward peaked angular distribution of the composite particle emission is weaker than that of the emitted single nucleon due to pick-up nucleon from the Fermi sea. As an example, the reactions of n + 14N have been calculated, and the Legendre coefficients of d, t, 3He, α, 5He emissions are obtained respectively.The results show that the forward tendency is decided by the average momentum per nucleon in the emitted composite particles. The larger the average momentum is, the stronger the forward tendency is. 展开更多

By using the nuclear reaction model for light nuclei, the calculations of the double-differential cross sections of outgoing neutrons from n +^9Be reactions are performed. The total outgoing neutrons are only come from the (n, 2n)2a reaction channel. The (n, 2n)2a reaction channel is achieved through six different reaction approach, which are illustrated in this paper. The calculated results agree very well with the measured data at En = 7.1, 8.09, 8.17, 9.09, 9.97 and 10.26 MeV, because the updated level schemes related to the n + ^9Be reactions have been employed in this calculations. 展开更多

The double-differential neutron emission cross sections for n+^56Fe reactions at incident energies of 7 -13 MeV at different angles are calculated by the UNF (abbreviation for unified, 2009 Version) code, which is based on the unified Hauser-Feshbach and exciton model. The results indicate that the higher the incident energies, the better the results, although there are some discrepancies between the calculated results and the measured data for natural iron. These discrepancies are analyzed in detail in this paper. In addition, the calculated results are also compared with the evaluated results of ENDF/B VII.0 and JEFF-3.1.1 near the angle of 90° at incident energies of 8.17 and 11.5 MeV, respectively. 展开更多

^5He Emission in Neutron-Induced ^10B Reactions

In n +^10B reactions, ^5He cluster emission has been discussed with the updated level scheme and the new optical model parameters. In this paper the reaction channels related to ^5He emission are listed in detail. By using the new reaction model for light nuclei, the double-differential cross sections of total outgoing neutrons for n + ^10 B reactions at En= 14.2 MeV have been calculated, and the results agree fairly well with the measurements. Particularly, in the energy-angular spectra the contribution from the 5He-emission to the total outgoing neutron double-differential cross sections has also been analyzed, and the partial energy-angular spectra of 60° at En= 14.2 MeV have been given. The calculated results indicate that once the 5He emission is taken into account, the fitting with the double-differential measurements of total outgoing neutrons at the low energy region could be improved. Therefore, to consider the ^5He emission properly in the reaction processes of light nuclei is necessary. 展开更多

The unstable nucleus5He emission has never been included in the widely used statistical model codes as the evaluation tool and interpretation experimental data. The calculated threshold energies of5He emission from light nuclei to heavy nuclei indicate that in most cases the compound nucleus induced by incident neutron would emit5He rather than3He. Since5He is unstable and can be separated into n+α spontaneously, so neutron is produced in5He emission process. The formulation of the double-differential cross section of the neutron from the two-body breakup process of emitted5He is established. Because of the strong recoil effect, the energy balance is strictly taken into account to meet the needs in nuclear engineering. Further improvement of the statistical model calculation codes on this respect is proposed. It is expected that the correlative measurement will be available to account the outgoing neutron and alpha particle simultaneously and to test and verify the existence of5He emission. 展开更多
