In this paper,a data-driven method for disturbance estimation and rejection is presented. The proposed approach is divided into two stages:an inner stabilization loop,to set the desired reference model, together with an outer loop for disturbance estimation and compensation.Inspired by the active disturbance rejection control framework, the exogenous and endogenous disturbances are lumped into a lotal disturbance signal. This signal is estimaed using an on-line algorithm based on a data-driven predictor scheme, whose parameters are chosen Io salisfy high robustnessperformance criteria. The above process is presented as a novel enhancement lo design a disturbance observer,w hich constitutes the main contribution of the paper. In addition, the control strategy is completely presented in discrete time, avoiding the use of discretization methods for its digital implementation. As a case study, the voltage control of a DC-DC synchronous buck converter aflected by disturbances in the input voltage and the load is considered. Finally, experimental results that validate the proposed stralegy and some comparisons with the classical disturbance observer-based control are presented. 展开更多

This paper proposes an autonomous finite-time disturbance observer-based control(FTDOBC)scheme to simultaneously achieve speed/frequency regulation and dynamic power compensation. The proposed approach is designed for a standalone micro turbine generation system operating under aerospace power demands.Unlike centralized architectures relying on real-time communication between subsystems, the proposed method embeds finite-time disturbance observers(FTDOs)into each dynamic stage of the micro turbine(MT)model. It enables independent estimation and compensation of mismatched/matched disturbances(e.g.,load power fluctuations, system uncertainties). Then, the composite controller is finally designed by the estimates of local FTDOs and the state feedback control law.Theoretical analysis proves that the FTDOBC method guarantees the finite-time convergence of dynamic power estimation and the asymptotically convergence of speed tracking errors.Simulations demonstrate that the proposed method can maintain the speed/frequency at the reference value rapidly, even under the demand of ramped and step load power. It also reveals that the demand power load is compensated rapidly by the proposed method.By capacitating a single MT to autonomously balance frequency stability and dynamic power demand, this work provides a foundational control paradigm for future distributed aviation energy systems. 展开更多

To solve the attitude trajectory tracking problem for hypersonic vehicles in the presence of system constraints and unknown disturbances, this paper designed a nonlinear robust model predictive control(RMPC)scheme, which can produce near-optimal tracking commands.Unlike the existing designs, the proposed scheme is less conservative and successfully prioritizes the solution optimality. The established RMPC follows a dualloop structure.Specifically,in the outer feedback loop, the reference attitude angle profiles are optimally tracked, while in the inner feedback loop, the control moment commands are produced by optimally tracking the desired angular rate trajectories.Besides,an adaptive disturbance observer(ADO)is designed and embedded in the inner and outer RMPC controllers to alleviate the negative effects caused by unknown external disturbances. The recursive feasibility of the optimization process, together with the input-to-state stability of the proposed RMPC,is theoretically guaranteed by introducing a tightened control constraint and terminal region. The derived property reveals that our proposal can steer the tracking error within a small region of convergence. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed scheme is demonstrated by performing simulation studies. 展开更多

This study investigates prescribed-time position tracking control for electromagnetic satellite formations subject to model uncertainties and external disturbances.Using the Clohessy-Wiltshire equations as the relative motion dynamics model,a prescribed time output feedback control strategy is proposed.A prescribed-time extended state observer is designed to estimate the relative velocity and external disturbances. The disturbance estimates are then used as the feedforward component of the controller.Building on this framework,a novel prescribed-time active disturbance rejection control strategy for position tracking is developed via a backstepping control design. The convergence of the extended state observer and the stability of the closed-loop system are rigorously analyzed using Lyapunov stability theory.Numerical simulations are performed to validate the effectiveness of the proposed controller. 展开更多

Formation control of multiple spacecraft has attracted extensive research attention. However, achieving reliable performance under sensor failures remains a significant challenge. This paper develops an integrated framework that jointly designs distributed observers and local controllers to ensure robust formation control in the presence of external disturbances and sensor malfunctions.Treating the spacecraft formation as a single interconnected system, each spacecraft constructs a distributed observer that estimates the overall system state by incorporating both its own measurements and the predicted control information shared among the spacecraft.Based on the observer estimates,a local control law is synthesized to maintain the desired formation.Rigorous theoretical analysis and numerical simulations demonstrate that the proposed integrated approach effectively guarantees formation stability and resilience against sensor failures and disturbances. 展开更多

The target tracking performance of the coarse pointing assembly(CPA) is a critical factor in determining the data transmission efficiency of the inter-satellite laser communication. However, under the influence of multiple disturbances, such as gimbal coupling torque, friction, and satellite-transmitted vibration, the angle tracking performance of the CPA can be decreased, which then affects the safety of the system in terms of angular velocity. To address the performance and safety requirements of the CPA, this paper proposes a refined metamodel disturbance observer-based state constraints controller. First, a refined metamodel disturbance observer is proposed to achieve accurate disturbance estimation by combining the data-driven state-space Kriging metamodeling method with a refined disturbance observer. Both disturbance numerical data and partially known information(e.g. vibration frequency and structure)are fully utilized to reduce estimation conservatism. Second, based on the observer, a state constraint controller is designed to ensure the angle tracking performance and angular velocity constraints. Finally, the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed control method are validated through numerical simulations, indicating an enhanced angle tracking performance compared to the traditional disturbance observer-based control method. 展开更多

In this paper a nonlinear control method is proposed for the tracking control of hypersonic flight vehicles. The designed control laws do not utilize the measured flight path angle due to its inferior accuracy in practical engineering. For this, an estimated flight path angle is designed via the measurements of the altitude and velocity. A tracking differentiator is designed for constructing nonlinear disturbance observer which is used to estimate the model uncertainties including the parameter indeterminacies and external disturbances in the channels of velocity and pitch rate. A robust high-order differentiator is introduced to avoid the employment of the measured flight path angle and estimate the lumped disturbance in dynamics of flight path angle. Meanwhile, the possible saturation of the control inputs is considered and compensated by the auxiliary states. The boundness of closed-loop signals is proved through the Lyapunov theory. Comparative simulations are carried out and the results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. 展开更多

The development of iterative learning control combined with disturbance-observer-based(DOB)control for the digital low-level radio frequency(LLRF)system of the International Linear Collider project is presented. The objective of this study is to compensate for both repetitive(or predictable)and unpredictable disturbances in a radio frequency system(e.g.,beam loading,Lorentz force detuning, and microphonics). The DOB control approach was verified using the LLRF system at the Superconducting Test Facility(STF)at KEK in the absence of a beam. The method comprising DOB control combined with an iterative learning control algorithm was then demonstrated in a cavity-simulator-based test bench, where a simulated beam was available. The results showed that the performance of the LLRF system was improved,as expected by this combined control approach. We plan to further generalize this approach to LLRF systems at the STF and the future International Linear Collider project. 展开更多

The fault-tolerant control problem is investigated for high-speed trains with actuator faults and multiple disturbances.Based on the novel train model resulting from the Takagi–Sugeno fuzzy theory, a sliding-mode fault-tolerant control strategy is proposed. The norm bounded disturbances which are composed of interactive forces among adjacent carriages and basis running resistances are rearranged by the fuzzy linearity technique. The modeled disturbances described as an exogenous system are compensated for by a disturbance observer. Moreover, a sliding mode surface is constructed, which can transform the stabilization problem of position and velocity into the stabilization problem of position errors and velocity errors, i.e., the tracking problem of position and velocity. Based on the parallel distributed compensation method and the disturbance observer, the fault-tolerant controller is solved. The Lyapunov theory is used to prove the stability of the closed-loop system. The feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed fault-tolerant control strategy are illustrated by simulation results. 展开更多

Wind turbines undergo degradation due to various factors which induce stress, thereby leading to fatigue damage to various wind turbine components. In addition, the current increase in demand for electrical power has led to the development of large wind turbines, which result in increased structural loads, therefore, increasing the possibility of early failure due to fatigue load. This paper proposes a proportional integral observer (PI-Observer) based disturbance accommodation controller (DAC) with individual pitch control (IPC) for load mitigation to reduce components’ damage and ensure the wind turbine is operational for the expected lifetime. The results indicate a reduction in blades’ bending moments with a standard deviation of 15.9%, which positively impacts several other wind turbine subsystems. Therefore, the lifetime control strategy demonstrates effective structural load mitigation without compromise on power generation, thus, achieving a nominal lifetime control to inhibit premature failure. 展开更多

The output feedback active disturbance rejection control of a valve-controlled cylinder electro-hydraulic servo system is investigated in this paper.First,a comprehensive nonlinear mathematical model that encompasses both matched and mismatched disturbances is formulated.Due to the fact that only position information can be measured,a linear Extended State Observer(ESO)is introduced to estimate unknown states and matched disturbances, while a dedicated disturbance observer is constructed to estimate mismatched disturbances.Different from the traditional observer results, the design of the disturbance observer used in this study is carried out under the constraint of output feedback.Furthermore,an output feedback nonlinear controller is proposed leveraging the aforementioned observers to achieve accurate trajectory tracking. To mitigate the inherent differential explosion problem of the traditional backstepping framework,a finite-time stable command filter is incorporated.Simultaneously, considering transient filtering errors,a set of error compensation signals are designed to counter their negative impact effectively.Theoretical analysis affirms that the proposed control strategy ensures the boundedness of all signals within the closed-loop system.Additionally, under the specific condition of only time-invariant disturbances in the system, the conclusion of asymptotic stability is established. Finally, the algorithm’s efficacy is validated through comparative experiments. 展开更多

The study of Mecanum mobile robots typically assumes motion on planar surfaces, while the challenges posed by inclined terrains remain largely unexplored, leaving a significant gap in control applications for such scenarios. In this context, two critical issues emerge:the gravitational pull caused by adding a potential energy term in the robot dynamics, which drives the vehicle downhill, and several positioning errors due to vibrations and slippage of the Mecanum wheel. To address these challenges, this work presents an Active Disturbance Rejection Control(ADRC)-based framework designed to enable accurate tracking on inclined surfaces, despite the compounded effects of gravitational forces and slippage.Unlike conventional controllers, the proposed method requires minimal model knowledge while actively compensates for unknown dynamics and external disturbances in real time.A complete theoretical formulation is provided, supported by numerical simulations and comprehensive experimental validation. Results demonstrate that the ADRC structure significantly outperforms not only the traditional proportional-integral-derivative(PID)control but also a robust variant of PID combined with a Quasi-Sliding Mode control(PID-QSMC)strategy,achieving superior tracking.Notably, this study offers an important experimental validation of ADRC for Mecanum-wheeled robots operating on inclined surfaces. It contributes a practical and scalable solution to extend their operational capabilities beyond flat environments. 展开更多

The objective of this paper is to present a robust safety-critical control system based on the active disturbance rejection control approach, designed to guarantee safety even in the presence of model inaccuracies, unknown dynamics, and external disturbances. The proposed method combines control barrier functions and control Lyapunov functions with a nonlinear extended state observer to produce a robust and safe control strategy for dynamic systems subject to uncertainties and disturbances. This control strategy employs an optimization-based control, supported by the disturbance estimation from a nonlinear extended state observer. Using a quadratic programming algorithm, the controller computes an optimal, stable, and safe control action at each sampling instant. This article presents an adaptive optimal control method for a semi-active suspension system. The model of the suspension system is built,in which the components of uncertain parameters and exogenous disturbance are described. The adaptive optimal control law consists of the sum of the optimal control component and the adaptive control component.First, the optimal control law is designed for the model of the suspension system after ignoring the components of uncertain parameters and exogenous disturbance caused by the road surface. The optimal control law expresses the desired dynamic characteristics of the suspension system.Next, the adaptive component is designed with the purpose of compensating for the effects caused by uncertain parameters and exogenous disturbance caused by the road surface;the adaptive component has adaptive parameter rules to estimate uncertain parameters and exogenous disturbance. When exogenous disturbances are eliminated, the system responds with an optimal controller designed.By separating theoretically the dynamic of a semi-active suspension system, this solution allows the design of two separate controllers easily and has reduced the computational burden and the use of too many tools, thus allowing for more convenient hardware implementation. The simulation results also show the effectiveness of damping oscillations of the proposed solution in this article. 展开更多

This article investigates the approaching control for fixed-wing Unmanned Aerial Vehi-cle(UAV)aerial recovery in the presence of pre-specified performance requirements, complex air-flows,maneuvering flight of transport aircraft, and different initial deviations.First,a novelcontrol-oriented Six-Degree-Of-Freedom(6-DOF)UAV model considering airflow disturbancesis established for better consistency with the actual UAV system. Then,to achieve satisfactory per-formance in the approaching process,a Flexible Appointed-time Prescribed Performance Control(FAPPC)algorithm, with the features of user-specified time convergence,no overshoot,indepen-dence from the initial value, and singularity-free,is proposed.Specifically,to solve the singularityissue encountered by the existing PPC methods in dealing with sudden disturbances,an adaptiveadjustment signal is introduced in FAPPC to perceive the threat of increasing error and relax thepreset boundaries appropriately. Moreover, minimum learning parameter-based neural networkestimators are developed to approximate unknown lumped disturbances at a low computationalcost. Finally, the stability of the closed system is analyzed via Lyapunov synthesis, and the effective-ness and advantages of the proposed control scheme are demonstrated via simulation andHardware-In-the-Loop(HIL)experimental validation. 展开更多

In this study,a novel observer-based scalable control scheme for large-scale systems(LSSs)with several interconnected subsystems is explored.Firstly,a scalable observer-based controller is designed to address complex situations where system states are difficult to measure directly.Secondly, unlike the limited cascade and ring topology connections in previous results, this study considers a universal arbitrary topology.Furthermore,it is noteworthy that the plug-and-play(PnP)capability of LSSs is guaranteed thanks to the proposed scalable scheme.Specifically, when subsystems are added or removed, only the controller gains of directly connected neighbors need updating, eliminating the need to redesign the entire system. Moreover,by choosing a Lyapunov-Krasovskii function with a quadratic matrix-valued polynomial, sufficient conditions are deduced to guarantee the global exponential stability with the desired extended dissipative performance for the resulting LSSs.Finally, the effectiveness of the employed scheme is verified by numerical and microgrid examples. 展开更多
