Background:The rate of distant metastasis in patients with pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors(PNETs)is20%-50%at the time of initial diagnosis.However,whether tumor size can predict distant metastasis for PNETs remains u...Background:The rate of distant metastasis in patients with pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors(PNETs)is20%-50%at the time of initial diagnosis.However,whether tumor size can predict distant metastasis for PNETs remains unknown up to date.Methods:We used Surveillance,Epidemiology,and End Results(SEER)population-based data to collect6089 patients with PNETs from 2010 to 2019.The optimal cut-off point of tumor size to predict distant metastasis was calculated by Youden’s index.Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to figure out the association between tumor size and distant metastasis patterns.Results:The most common metastatic site was liver(27.2%),followed by bone(3.0%),lung(2.3%)and brain(0.4%).Based on an optimal cut-off value of tumor size(25.5 mm)for predicting distant metastasis determined by Youden’s index,patients were categorized into groups of tumor size<25.5 mm and≥25.5 mm.Multivariate logistic regression analyses showed that,compared with<25.5 mm,tumor size≥25.5 mm was an independent risk predictor of overall distant metastasis[odds ratio(OR)=4.491,95%confidence interval(CI):3.724-5.416,P<0.001]and liver metastasis(OR=4.686,95%CI:3.886-5.651,P<0.001).Conclusions:Tumor size≥25.5 mm was significantly associated with more overall distant and liver metastases.Timely identification of distant metastasis for tumor size≥25.5 mm may provide survival benefit for timely and precise treatment.展开更多
Multi-angle statistical analysis of tropical cyclones(TCs)and their distant thermodynamic disturbances over Northwest Pacific from July to September during 2001-2020 was conducted.The results show that TCs could trigg...Multi-angle statistical analysis of tropical cyclones(TCs)and their distant thermodynamic disturbances over Northwest Pacific from July to September during 2001-2020 was conducted.The results show that TCs could trigger distant thermodynamic disturbances,which mainly caused an increase in air pressure and a rise in temperature in northern China.The distant thermodynamic disturbances triggered by TCs differed in spatial distribution and intensity in different months.In the same month,the spatial distribution of such disturbances triggered by high-intensity TCs was consistent with the overall pattern,and there was a significant increase in intensity and area.From the probability of TC activities and the significance test of variance of analysis under different levels of P-J index,it is found that TC activities could stimulate the increase of P-J teleconnection index.There was a significant positive correlation between them,which was accompanied by a step effect.展开更多
BACKGROUND Gastric cancer is the fifth most common cancer and the fourth leading cause of death worldwide.Most cases of newly diagnosed gastric cancer involve not only locally advanced tumor growth and regional lymph ...BACKGROUND Gastric cancer is the fifth most common cancer and the fourth leading cause of death worldwide.Most cases of newly diagnosed gastric cancer involve not only locally advanced tumor growth and regional lymph node metastases but also distant metastases.We report a rare case finding of a mass in the right inguinal area which is derived from gastric cancer.CASE SUMMARY A 68-year-old male initially diagnosed with an inguinal hernia presented with a 2 cm mass in the right inguinal area.Gastrointestinal symptoms led to the discovery of a stomach tumor.Biopsy confirmed gastrointestinal adenocarcinoma.The diagnosis was advanced gastric cancer with peritoneal dissemination,and the inguinal mass was due to direct infiltration.Due to gastrointestinal bleeding,the patient underwent palliative gastrectomy and lymph node dissection.Postoperatively,the patient received hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy and localized radiation therapy.CONCLUSION This case indicates that a systematic evaluation should be conducted during the initial consultation to explore the potential connection between unrecognized distant masses and the primary tumor.展开更多
The location of U-turn bays is an important consideration in indirect driveway left-turn treatments.In order to improve the performance of right-turns followed by U-turns(RTUTs),this study evaluates the impacts of t...The location of U-turn bays is an important consideration in indirect driveway left-turn treatments.In order to improve the performance of right-turns followed by U-turns(RTUTs),this study evaluates the impacts of the separation distances between driveway exits and downstream U-turn locations on the safety and operational performance of vehicles making RTUTs.Crash data are investigated at 179 selected roadway segments,and travel time data are measured using video cameras at 29 locations in the state of Florida,USA.Crash rate models and travel time models are developed based on data collected in the field.It is found that the separation distance between driveway exits and downstream U-turn locations significantly impacts the safety and operational performance of vehicles making right turns followed by U-turns.Based on the research results,the minimum and optimal separation distances between driveways and U-turn locations under different roadway conditions are determined to facilitate driver use of RTUTs.The results of this study can be used for future intersection improvement projects in China.展开更多

RAPD molecular identification of 7C14 and rice female parent of Zhongxiang No.l, seed 2 was carried on with distant hybridization of male parent of Spartina altemiflora (H). The results showed that bands same with Spartina alterni- flora parents were found in RH-1-10K205-7C14xH, RH-2-8K157-7C14xH, and RH-13- 9H5-Zhongxaing No.1 xH.
