文摘The dominated contradiction in optimizing the performance of magnesium-air battery anode lies in the difficulty of achieving a good balance between activation and passivation during discharge process. To further reconcile this contradiction, two Mg-0.1Sc-0.1Y-0.1Ag anodes with different residual strain distribution through extrusion with/without annealing are fabricated. The results indicate that annealing can significantly lessen the“pseudo-anode”regions,thereby changing the dissolution mode of the matrix and achieving an effective dissolution during discharge.Additionally,p-type semiconductor characteristic of discharge productfilm could suppress the self-corrosion reaction without reducing the polarization of anode. The magnesium-air battery utilizing annealed Mg-0.1Sc-0.1Y-0.1Ag as anode achieves a synergistic improvement in specific capacity(1388.89 mA h g^(-1))and energy density(1960.42 mW h g^(-1)).This anode modification method accelerates the advancement of high efficiency and long lifespan magnesium-air batteries, offering renewable and cost-effective energy solutions for electronics and emergency equipment.
文摘In this work, the combined addition of strontium/indium(Sr/In)to the magnesium anode for Mg-Air Cells is investigated to improve discharge performance by modifying the anode/electrolyte interface.Indium exists as solid solution atoms in theα-Mg matrix without its second-phase generation, and at the same time facilitates grain refinement, dendritic segregation and Mg17Sr2-phases precipitation.During discharge operation,Sr modifies the film composition via its compounds and promoted the redeposition of In at the substrate/film interface;their co-deposition behavior on the anodic reaction surface enhances anode reaction kinetics, suppresses the negative difference effect(NDE)and mitigates the“chunk effect”(CE),which is contributed to uniform dissolution and low self-corrosion hydrogen evolution rate(HER).Therefore,Mg-Sr-xIn alloy anodes show excellent discharge performance,e.g.,0.5Sr-1.0In shows an average discharge voltage of 1.4234 V and a specific energy density of 1990.71 Wh kg^(-1)at 10 mA cm^(-2).Furthermore,the decisive factor(CE and self-discharge HE)for anodic efficiency are quantitively analyzed, the self-discharge is the main factor of cell efficiency loss.Surprisingly, all Mg-Sr-xIn anodes show anodic efficiency greater than 60%at high current density(≥10 mA cm^(-2)),making them excellent candidate anodes for Mg-Air cells at high-power output.

文摘This study exhibits a design of the discharge product film of a bulk AZ63-Ce-La-Ca(AZ63X)anode for Mg-air battery. An ideal discharge product film for Mg anode is that it could inhibit the anodic hydrogen evolution but does not hinder the transfer of the electrons at the interface.Fortunately, the addition of Ce,La,and Ca into AZ63 alloy achieves this goal. The Mg-air battery with AZ63X anode in 3.5%Na Cl has an ultrahigh anodic efficiency of 85.7±1.7%and energy-density of 2431±53 mWh g^(-1)with the unique discharge product film, surpassing the values of most reported Mg-air batteries.Furthermore, the alloying elements reduce the anode delamination effect significantly by transforming the block Mg_(17)Al_(12)phase into the connected Mg_(17)Al_(12)structure and fine rod Al_(2)RE and Al_(2)Ca.
文摘Seawater desalination has been considered an important solution for water scarcity in coastal areas.Morocco, with its 3,500 km long coastline, has seen significant growth in population and industrial activities in recent years. The dams that supply water to most regions of Morocco have faced periods of drought. This led the government to start a large-scale seawater desalination project that shall produce over 2 MM m^(3)/year.The most common environmental impact associated with desalination plants is the high concentration brine discharge which can alter the physical, chemical, and biological properties of the receiving water body,In fact, the increasing number of desalination plants along the coastline amplifies the potential risks that brine discharges pose to marine ecosystems. This highlights the critical need for regulations to manage pollutant concentrations in water, both at the discharge point(Effluent Standards-ES)and in the receiving environment(Ambient Standards-AS).Law 36-15,in its Article 72,grants any natural or legal person, whether public or private, the right to carry out seawater desalination to meet their own water needs or those of other users,in accordance with current legislation and regulations. However, the definition of regulations concerning marine environmental aspects and the substantial limits for discharges has not yet been specified.Indeed, these regulations will need to be developed with due consideration for the local biodiversity. These regulations should also take into account the technical criteria required to determine the compliance point and define the boundaries of the brine discharge impact zone.

文摘With the development of high-frequency and highvoltagetraction machines(TM)incorporating hairpin windings(HW)and SiC inverters for electric vehicles(EV),both theinterturn voltage stress and temperature within HW are rising, increasing the risk of partial discharge(PD),and presentingsignificant challenges to insulation safety. Therefore, this paperaddresses this issue and proposes potential solutions.Firstly, thepaper examines an 8-pole,48-slot,6-layer HW TM to highlightthe unique characteristics of this winding structure, and explainsthe uneven distribution of interturn voltage stress andtemperature.Subsequently,a high-frequency equivalent circuitmodel of the HW TM prototype is developed. The error ofsimulation and experiment is only 5.7%,which proves theaccuracy of the model. Then,an improved HW scheme isproposed to lower the maximum voltage stress by 29.3%.Furthermore,the temperature distribution of HW TM isanalyzed to facilitate a detailed examination of the impact oftemperature on insulation PD.Finally, the partial dischargeinception voltage(PDIV)of interturn insulation, consideringtemperature effects,is calculated and verified throughexperiment. The paper proposes a reliability-oriented designmethod and process for HW TM.It demonstrates that thereliability-oriented design can achieve PD-free performance inthe design stage of HW.

文摘To enhance the operational capacity and space utilization of baffle-drop shafts, this study improved the traditional baffle-drop shaft by expanding the wet-side space, incorporating large rotation-angle baffles, and installing overflow holes in the dividing wall.A three-dimensional turbulent model was developed using ANSYS Fluent to simulate the hydraulic characteristics of both traditional and new baffle-drop shafts across various flow rates. The simulation results demonstrated that the new shaft design allowed for discharge from both the wet and dry sides, significantly improving operational capacity, with the dry side capable of handling 40%of the inlet flow.Compared to the traditional shaft, the new design reduced shaft wall pressures and decreased the mean and standard deviation of pressure on typical baffles by 21%and 63%,respectively,therefore enhancing structural safety.Additionally, the new shaft achieved a 2%-12%higher energy dissipation rate than the traditional shaft across different flow rates. This study offers valuable insights for the design and optimization of drop shafts in deep tunnel drainage systems.

文摘The quest for high-energy-density magnesium-air batteries is hindered by the efficiency-voltage trade-off,ultimately leading to an unsatisfactory energy density. Here,we effectively mitigate the inherent efficiency-voltage trade-off by introducing a novel anode material,specifically,Mg-0.5Sn-0.5In-0.5Ga.This anode demonstrates exceptional anodic efficiency, achieving 60.5±2.5%at 1 mA cm^(-2),65.3±2.7%at 10 mA cm^(-2),and 71.4±1.2%at 20 mA cm^(-2).Furthermore,the discharge voltage is significantly enhanced, reaching 1.76±0.01 V at 1 mA cm^(-2),1.44±0.02 V at 10 mA cm^(-2),and 1.21±0.08 V at 20 mA cm^(-2).Consequently,our newly developed anode exhibits a remarkable energy density of 2312±98 W h kg^(-1),placing it among the top-performing magnesium anodes documented in the literature.Density functional theory calculations and experimental investigations have unveiled that the exceptional performance can be attributed to the inhibition of water reduction, facilitated by the hybridization between solute atoms and neighboring Mg atoms.Furthermore, the activation of the second phase, introducing additional galvanic couples, significantly contributes to this performance. This study presents valuable insights that can guide the design of novel anodes, contributing to the advancement of high-performance magnesium-air batteries.

文摘Although the Mg-air battery with high theoretical energy density is desirable for the energy supply of marine engineering equipment, its applications remain limited due to the low actual discharge voltage and inferior Mg anode utilization rate.In addition to the microstructure of Mg alloy anodes, the properties of discharge product films are of great importance to the discharge performance.Herein, the discharge behaviors of Mg-Y-Zn alloys are first studied mainly from the perspective of film properties.Through contrastive analysis,it is found that the sufficient Y^(3+) produced during the discharge process can substitute Mg^(2+) in Mg(OH)_(2) to introduce effective cation vacancies. The Mg-Y-Zn anode with profuse cation vacancies in the product film shows a synergy of potential and efficiency, and this can be attributed to an increase in the migration pathway for Mg^(2+),reducing the diffusion over-potential caused by the protective product film. This study is expected to provide a new strategy from the perspective of cation vacancy design of discharge film for developing high-performance Mg-air batteries.

文摘The deposition layer on the discharge channel wall of a Hall thruster after long-term operation occasionally detaches from the wall and interferes with the plasma inside the channel, resulting in current pulse and threatening the power supply. To understand the generation mechanism of the current pulse, the interaction between the peeling material and the channel plasma was studied by the particle-in-cell and Monte Carlo collision(PIC/MCC)method.The plasma evolution and distribution in the Hall thruster channel when peeling material existed were simulated.Simulation results show that the peeling material changes the electron transportation and ionization, and the effects are related to the position of the peeling material. When the peeling material invades the zone where the ionization rate is originally the highest without peeling material, the ionization process is almost terminated. The ionization suppression by the peeling material will cause the propellant gas to refill the channel exit.As the peeling material moves away, gas discharge is induced near the channel exit, resulting in anode current pulse.

文摘Although lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)currently dominate a wide spectrum of energy storage applications, they face challenges such as fast cycle life decay and poor stability that hinder their further application. To address these limitations, element doping has emerged as a prevalent strategy to enhance the discharge capacity and extend the durability of Li-Ni-Co-Mn(LNCM)ternary compounds. This study utilized a machine learning-driven feature screening method to effectively pinpoint four key features crucially impacting the initial discharge capacity(IC)of Li-Ni-Co-Mn(LNCM)ternary cathode materials. These features were also proved highly predictive for the 50^(th)cycle discharge capacity(EC).Additionally, the application of SHAP value analysis yielded an in-depth understanding of the interplay between these features and discharge performance. This insight offers valuable direction for future advancements in the development of LNCM cathode materials, effectively promoting this field toward greater efficiency and sustainability.

文摘A macro-tidal tropical estuary with high fluvial discharge is characterized by both fragility and remarkable dynamism. This study utilizes the Salween River Delta(SRD)as a case example to examine the interplay between morphology and vegetation under similar tidal conditions. Our analysis of correlations and inferences revealed several significant trends in the SRD:(1)an overall expansion of land area and intertidal vegetation, with the most pronounced changes occurring in the eastern sector;(2)the predominance of river discharge influencing the southwestern and northern sectors, contrasted with the primary impact of storm surges in the eastern sector;and(3)three distinct causal relationships among estuarine morphology, vegetation, storm surges, and river discharge:a direct model where river discharge shapes estuarine morphology,a progressive model in which river discharge affects vegetation distribution, subsequently influencing estuarine morphology, and a hybrid model where storm surges directly impact vegetation and indirectly modify its distribution through changes in estuarine morphology. The stability of sediment supply and the role of intertidal vegetation are crucial for the continuous seaward advance, providing a vital foundation for the protection and development of estuarine deltas.

文摘In this work,a series of experiments are carried out to investigate the effect of charge/discharge rates(1,2,3 and 4 C)and state of charges(SOCs,namely 0%,50%,75%and 100%)on thermal runaway(TR)and fire behavior of lithium iron phosphate(LFP)batteries. The TR process caused by overheating LFP batteries is usually divided into four stages, with high temperatures and fire risks.High-rate charge and discharge damage the internal morphology and structural stability of materials seriously. The TR behavior of battery is fully aggravated, which is further manifested by the advanced opening of the safety vent, release of gas and occurrence of TR.With the increase of charging rate, the deteriorated TR characteristics can be discerned, such as the lower TR temperature, the shorter TR time, and the more serious TR consequences.Such changes can be assigned to the decline of battery stability. In addition, the battery SOC greatly impacts safety, especially the flame temperature and the severity of consequences. As for the 100%SOC battery cycled at 4 C,there is still a high risk of thermal runaway propagation at the position 1 m far away from the battery. This work helps to realize the TR and fire features of battery in-depth,enlightening the safety protection of battery.
文摘Assessing the behaviour and concentration of waste pollutants deposited between two parallel plates is essential for effective environmental management.Determining the effectiveness of treatment methods in reducing pollution scales is made easier by analysing waste discharge concentrations. The waste discharge concentration analysis is useful for assessing how effectively wastewater treatment techniques reduce pollution levels. This study aims to explore the Casson micropolar fluid flow through two parallel plates with the influence of pollutant concentration and thermophoretic particle deposition. To explore the mass and heat transport features, thermophoretic particle deposition and thermal radiation are considered. The governing equations are transformed into ordinary differential equations with the help of suitable similarity transformations. The Runge-Kutta-Fehlberg’s fourthfifth order technique and shooting procedure are used to solve the reduced set of equations and boundary conditions. The integration of a neural network model based on the Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm serves to improve the accuracy of predictions and optimize the analysis of parameters.Graphical outcomes are displayed to analyze the characteristics of the relevant dimensionless parameters in the current problem. Results reveal that concentration upsurges as the micropolar parameter increases. The concentration reduces with an upsurge in the thermophoretic parameter. An upsurge in the external pollutant source variation and the local pollutant external source parameters enhances mass transport. The surface drag force declines for improved values of porosity and micropolar parameters.
