Digital survival and development is not only an important part of the theory and practice of human rights in the digital society but also the purpose of protecting the digitally disadvantaged.Today,the rights approach...Digital survival and development is not only an important part of the theory and practice of human rights in the digital society but also the purpose of protecting the digitally disadvantaged.Today,the rights approach to protecting the digitally disadvantaged ignores individual differences,the process of action,the quality of rights,and digital capability development which are of greatest concern to the capabilities approach.Therefore,it is inferior to the latter in terms of both content and effectiveness.From the perspective of the capabilities approach,the digitally disadvantaged manifest a combined state of weakened digital rights and digital disability.The exclusion of individual rights by technological rights,the lack of inherent capabilities due to individual differences,and the weak combination of structural imbalances are the essential logic of the problem of the digitally disadvantaged.Therefore,it is necessary to embed the capabilities approach as a value principle into the legal protection of the digitally disadvantaged and enhance the intrinsic capabilities by cultivating digital literacy within the dimension of rights.Additionally,it is also necessary to develop a comprehensive capability by combining digital power constraints and responsible allocation,diversified collaborative digital capability assessment,promotion and assistance,and national standardized,motivational,and preferential empowerment to ensure that the digitally disadvantaged unleash and develop their capabilities.展开更多

The aim of this study was to investigate the relationships between sport and community by examining the role played by sports participation in community engagement and community capacity building in disadvantaged urba...The aim of this study was to investigate the relationships between sport and community by examining the role played by sports participation in community engagement and community capacity building in disadvantaged urban communities.From a conceptual standpoint,the study is based on the sociological theory of the community and Community Capacity Building(CCB)theory,which provide overviews of the concept of community and community capacity and its characteristics.Four disadvantaged urban communities were investigated.Two of these communities had sports programs,while the other two did not.The online questionnaire methodology was adopted to assess the socio-demographic characteristics and community engagement of the participants(knowledge of programs and participation in community activities),and subsequently,an analysis of the online social media narratives of the community members themselves was developed to measure the characteristics of their community capacity building.We found that community engagement and community capacity values were higher in the communities with sports programs.These findings are promising and suggest that approaches based on sports participation development could be fruitful,particularly in disadvantaged communities.展开更多

This paper asks how the livability of socially disadvantaged urban neighborhoods can be improved with the help of publicly funded area-based urban regeneration.It builds on the history of area-based regeneration polic...This paper asks how the livability of socially disadvantaged urban neighborhoods can be improved with the help of publicly funded area-based urban regeneration.It builds on the history of area-based regeneration policies in Germany aiming at upgrading and resolving urban problems at the neighborhood level.Its main argument is as follows.First,the fate of conventional physical upgrading policies focusing on the livability of deprived urban areas depends on the development environment.While successful upgrading sometimes makes inner-city neighborhoods so attractive that they run into a trend towards gentrification and displacement of the urban poor,the stabilization of less privileged areas cannot always be guaranteed.Second,alternative approaches are needed,linking limited physical upgrading with socially oriented policies,building on strategies like neighborhood management and empowerment.Third,they can make a substantial contribution to stabilizing deprived neighborhoods,thereby improving the general living conditions and the opportunities of the urban poor.However,they require at least some permanent intervention.Thus,they transcend the logic of area-based regeneration normally limited to restoring faith into the private real estate market and thereby directing inward investment into them that improves the quality of the physical environment.Fourth,they are hardly able to overcome significant negative stigmatization in cities that are severely hit by economic downturn and population decline.This is especially true when they act as arrival areas for consecutive waves of migrants,making it necessary to redefine the role of those areas in cities and accepting their high concentration of urban problems as a starting point for different area-based policies dealing with them.The key empirical background of the paper is the German system of urban development grants and an evaluation of the so-called program of“socially integrative city”.展开更多

The use of donor-derived cell-free DNA (dd-cfDNA) in organ transplantationhas led to significant progress in the treatment of post-transplantoutcomes, particularly after kidney transplantation. In addition, the use of ddcfDNAin organ transplantation has led to significant advancements in posttransplantoutcome monitoring. The aim of this study is to review many of therecent studies on the use of this biomarker and to evaluate its most relevantadvantages and limitations. dd-cfDNA is released from several types of cells ofthe transplanted organ, most often from endothelial cells and this happens in thecase of organ damage, most often rejection. Its presence in the bloodstream of therecipients is an important sign of graft damage;its principal advantage is in theavoidance of invasive tools such as renal biopsy. Additionally, several studiesreported that the finding of dd-cfDNA in the serum may precede histologicalabnormalities;its utility in the diagnosis of subclinical rejection is extremelyimportant. Among the principal limitations of this tool are the difficulty in distinguishingdifferent forms of graft damage. Dear Editors,Despite great strides in cancer diagnosis and treatment,lives lost resulting from economic disparities have not received sufficient attention.Available evidence has affirmed that economic settings and lev...Dear Editors,Despite great strides in cancer diagnosis and treatment,lives lost resulting from economic disparities have not received sufficient attention.Available evidence has affirmed that economic settings and levels profoundly affect the therapeutic effects of cancer patients and challenge the equity in cancer care1.Recently,a study entitled“Impact of cancer diagnosis on life expectancy by area-level socioeconomic groups in New South Wales,Australia:a population-based study”quantified loss of life expectancy(LOLE)caused by differences in socioeconomic status(SES)2.Cancer patients from the most disadvantaged areas faced a more severe LOLE than cancer patients from the least disadvantaged areas.Specifically,the LOLE gap between bladder cancer patients with different economic levels is as high as 1.7 years(8.3 vs.6.6 years).Clearly,reducing this loss of life originating from economic imbalance via policy guidance or economic strategy is of great significance.Herein we offer some recommendations for this intractable issue.展开更多

文摘The extensive application of artificial intelligence(AI)technology is profoundly affecting the ecology of education.To analyze the advantages and disadvantages of AI for the professional growth of students,this study systematically analyzed the potential dual impacts of AI in higher education from two dimensions,namely academic ability and thinking patterns.Results indicated AI facilitated the development of students by improving learning efficiency and optimizing the integration of resources.However,it simultaneously aggravated the crisis of academic integrity and the inertia of thinking.In responding to these issues,this study proposed an integrated framework that included management,guidance,and standardization.This framework would facilitate the positive interaction between AI and education,contributing to the professional development of students.
文摘Using data of Chinese immigrants extracted from the Belgian National Register registering a cohabitation or marriage between 2005 and 2015(N=3945),this study aims to advance the understanding of cohabitation among disadvantaged groups in local marriage markets.From the difference in prevalence of cohabitation between Chinese men and women,we conclude that Chinese immigrants could use cohabita-tion rather as a practical living arrangement in the context of recent migration rather than as an alternative to marriage,as the receiving society does.The practical living strategy of ethnic minorities enhances our understanding of cohabitation among dis-advantaged groups,for whom the choice for cohabiting would be largely influenced by the home familial culture.

文摘Children from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds receive unequal opportunities to succeed in school,which will lead to a decreased health literacy as adults[U].This is not only directly associated with an impaired eco-nomic and mental health and wellbeing of young people,but above all with an in creased adult mortality[1-4].While this problem is well known and described,only few and even fewer pediatric studies suggest how to interrupt this downward spiral consistently[5,6].

文摘Heart valve diseases affect more than one hundred million people around the world,which are a serious cause of illness and mortality.[1]Among the valve diseases,mitral valve insufficiency ranks second in the list of valve diseases requiring surgical repair in Europe.[2]Prosthetic valve replacement is the standard treatment in cases where repair is not sufficient for valve diseases.[3]Mechanical and bioprosthetic valves can be preferred for replacement,mechanical valves are more durable and require lifelong use of anticoagulants.The disadvantage of bioprosthetic valves is early degeneration,and infective reoperation is required due to the formation of endocarditis.[4-5]The risk of thromboembolism,lifetime anticoagulant use and complications related to anticoagulation remain disadvantages of valve surgery.[3]The most important complication requiring urgent intervention is valve dysfunction due to thrombosis.It usually occurs due to inappropriate use of the anticoagulants.[6]Surgical treatment is used for severe obstructions,such as thrombi larger than 10 mm.Thrombolytic therapy can be applied in small thrombi and in cases where surgical intervention is risky.

文摘Dear Editors,Despite great strides in cancer diagnosis and treatment,lives lost resulting from economic disparities have not received sufficient attention.Available evidence has affirmed that economic settings and levels profoundly affect the therapeutic effects of cancer patients and challenge the equity in cancer care1.Recently,a study entitled“Impact of cancer diagnosis on life expectancy by area-level socioeconomic groups in New South Wales,Australia:a population-based study”quantified loss of life expectancy(LOLE)caused by differences in socioeconomic status(SES)2.Cancer patients from the most disadvantaged areas faced a more severe LOLE than cancer patients from the least disadvantaged areas.Specifically,the LOLE gap between bladder cancer patients with different economic levels is as high as 1.7 years(8.3 vs.6.6 years).Clearly,reducing this loss of life originating from economic imbalance via policy guidance or economic strategy is of great significance.Herein we offer some recommendations for this intractable issue.
