The former encompasses a wide range of teachereducation initiatives at the levels of diploma, bachelor’s degree, postgraduate diploma, and even master’s degree for teacher licensure purposes. These are widely documented in the literature.What is important is how teacher professional development contributes to bolstering the teachereducator force, which is relatively insufficiently documented due to the very fact that different educational systems have somewhat different expectations of such programs in relation to the ideologies and theories underpinning the teacher professional development program design and curriculum offering. Taking stock of a postgraduate diploma program in English language teaching(PGDELT) for teachers’ continuing professional development with a 31-year history housed at a premier teacher education institution in Singapore, which has successfully graduated over 1, 000 English language teachers for colleges and universities in China, I intend to highlight some of its key features, as a former student and then a lecturer on the program, in order to draw implications for sustainable growth of language teacher education programs, especially those whose main purposes are to prepare teachers of English as a second or foreign language(ESL/EFL) and provide continuing professional development opportunities for such inservice teachers.展开更多

But presentation of messages that reach and resonate with the inte...Successful health promotion programs are characterized in part, by the willingness of audiences to engage, participate, and adopt healthier behaviors. But presentation of messages that reach and resonate with the intended audience remains challenging. This is due in part to the variety of mindsets—viewpoints, attitudes, and beliefs—within a population. These mindsets play an essential role in understanding and predicting behaviors and lifestyle factors associated with health or chronic diseases. The purpose of this study is to demonstrate how a specific survey-based method of mindset segmentation can distinguish predominant mindsets and then be used to create, adapt, and/or market health programs to appeal to these mindsets. Steps in survey construction, distribution, and analysis are described. Interpretation of the results, yielding three primary mindsets, is the critical outcome of this segmentation method. The applications of this interpretation to community health education programs are suggested. This approach has potential to inform, enhance, or customize programs, tailoring activities, methods, and messages to the preferences of the community.展开更多

They are information network cabling-related qualification system and competitions as the ability evaluation system. The Lower Cambrian Longwangmiao Fm gas reservoir in Moxi block of the Anyue Gas field,Sichuan Basin,is the largest single-sandbody integrated carbonate gas reservoir proved so far in China.Notwithstanding this reservo...The Lower Cambrian Longwangmiao Fm gas reservoir in Moxi block of the Anyue Gas field,Sichuan Basin,is the largest single-sandbody integrated carbonate gas reservoir proved so far in China.Notwithstanding this reservoir's advantages like large-scale reserves and high singlewell productivity,there are multiple complicated factors restricting its efficient development,such as a median content of hydrogen sulfide,low porosity and strong heterogeneity of fractureecave formation,various modes of gasewater occurrences,and close relation between overpressure and stress sensitivity.Up till now,since only a few Cambrian large-scale carbonate gas reservoirs have ever been developed in the world,there still exists some blind spots especially about its exploration and production rules.Besides,as for large-scale sulfur gas reservoirs,the exploration and construction is costly,and production test in the early evaluation stage is severely limited,all of which will bring about great challenges in productivity construction and high potential risks.In this regard,combining with Chinese strategic demand of strengthening clean energy supply security,the PetroChina Southwest Oil&Gas Field Company has carried out researches and field tests for the purpose of providing highproduction wells,optimizing development design,rapidly constructing high-quality productivity and upgrading HSE security in the Longwangmiao Fm gas reservoir in Moxi block.Through the innovations of technology and management mode within 3 years,this gas reservoir has been built into a modern large-scale gas field with high quality,high efficiency and high benefit,and its annual capacity is now up to over 100×10^(8)m^(3),with a desirable production capacity and development indexes gained as originally anticipated.It has become a new model of large-scale gas reservoirs with efficient development,providing a reference for other types of gas reservoirs in China.展开更多

High pressure, radon bearing water has been identified as one of the most critical challenges in mining the high-grade uranium deposit at the Mc Arthur River Operation, Cameco Corporation. The ore deposits are located...High pressure, radon bearing water has been identified as one of the most critical challenges in mining the high-grade uranium deposit at the Mc Arthur River Operation, Cameco Corporation. The ore deposits are located between 490 and 640 m below the surface and surrounded by water bearing Athabasca sandstone, a graphitic P2 fault zone, and highly altered ground. This paper introduces the inflow risk management program at Mc Arthur River Operation, which includes various hydrogeological challenges and the corresponding strategies applied, such as risk-based probe and grout programs(geological, hydrogeological, and geotechnical), ground freezing programs, and comprehensive ground control programs. These programs have been developed, tested, and proven successful over years of mining practices. Working with this world class deposit of high risk and low tolerance, it is believed that these experiences might be beneficial to other mining operations with similar hydrogeological characteristics.展开更多

However, due to the lack of an effectivepreventive mechanism, the police are often in a passive position. Usingtechnologies such as web crawlers, feature engineering, deep learning, andartificial intelligence, this paper proposes a user portrait fraudwarning schemebased on Weibo public data. First, we perform preliminary screening andcleaning based on the keyword “defrauded” to obtain valid fraudulent userIdentity Documents (IDs). The basic information and account information ofthese users is user-labeled to achieve the purpose of distinguishing the typesof fraud. Secondly, through feature engineering technologies such as avatarrecognition, Artificial Intelligence (AI) sentiment analysis, data screening,and follower blogger type analysis, these pictures and texts will be abstractedinto user preferences and personality characteristics which integrate multidimensionalinformation to build user portraits. Third, deep neural networktraining is performed on the cube. 80% percent of the data is predicted basedon the N-way K-shot problem and used to train the model, and the remaining20% is used for model accuracy evaluation. Experiments have shown thatFew-short learning has higher accuracy compared with Long Short TermMemory (LSTM), Recurrent Neural Networks (RNN) and ConvolutionalNeural Network (CNN). On this basis, this paper develops a WeChat smallprogram for early warning of telecommunications network fraud based onuser portraits. When the user enters some personal information on the frontend, the back-end database can perform correlation analysis by itself, so as tomatch the most likely fraud types and give relevant early warning information.The fraud warning model is highly scaleable. Graphene is such a kind of materials with the highest strength and the thinnest thickness. In this paper, the mechanical response of the bi-modulus beam subjected to the temperature effect and placed on the Winkler foundation is studied. The differential equations about the neutral axis position and undetermined parameters of the normal strain of the bi-modulus foundation beam are established. Then, the analytical expressions of the normal stress, bending moment, and displacement of the foundation beam are derived. Simultaneously, a calculation procedure based on the finite element method （FEM） is developed to obtain the temperature stress of the bi-modulus struc- tures. It is shown that the obtained bi-modulus solutions can recover the classical modulus solution, and the results obtained by the analytical expressions, the present FEM proce- dure, and the traditional FEM software are consistent, which verifies the accuracy and reliability of the present analytical model and procedure. Finally, the difference between the bi-modulus results and the classical same modulus results is discussed, and several reasonable suggestions for calculating and optimizing the certain bi-modulus member in practical engineering are presented.展开更多

A suitable filter can overcome the checkerboard and mesh-dependency. And the historical information on accurate elemental sensitivity numbers are used to keep the objective function converging steadily. Apart from rational intervals of the relevant important parameters, the concept of distinguishing between active and non-active elements design is proposed, which can be widely used for improving the function and artistry of structures directly, especially for a one whose accurate size is not given. Furthermore, user-friendly software packages are developed to enhance its accessibility for practicing engineers and architects. And to reduce the time cost for large timeconsuming complex structure optimization, parallel computing is built-in in the MATLAB codes. The program is easy to use for engineers who may not be familiar with either FEA or structure optimization. And developers can make a deep research on the algorithm by changing the MATLAB codes. Several classical examples are given to show that the improved BESO method is superior for its handy and utility computer program software.展开更多
