Nontraditional resources refer to that potential mineral resources are unconsidered and unutilized under actual condition of technique, economic and environment, or some mineral resources are too difficult to find because of geological complexity. There are some signified problems about discovery and exploration of nontraditional mineral resources to be discussed in this paper. It is a very significant project next century, and makes development bases for offspring, which its research and practice the theory of nontraditional mineral resources need interactive combination. 展开更多

With the continuous development of social economy and the continuous improvement of people's quality of life, the demand for oil is increasing. There are many places where oil is used in people's lives, such as cars and other means of transportation. Oil not only plays an important role in people's way of life and travel, but also plays an important role in many other aspects. Therefore, in order to ensure that people's daily life can be carried out in a normal and orderly way, it is necessary to develop the oilfield geology. Only in this way can more oil be mined to ensure people's daily needs. However, in the actual process of oil exploitation, it is difficult to guarantee people's demand simply by manpower. Therefore, in the process of exploiting the oilfield geology, the corresponding development technology should be used to exploit the oilfield, which will effectively improve the efficiency of oilfield exploitation. However, at present, there are still many problems in using oilfield geological development technology, such as the difficulty of exploitation, the benefit of exploitation, the equipment used in oil exploitation, and so on, which will affect the use of oilfield address development technology. Therefore, in order to exploit the oilfield geology smoothly, it is necessary for the relevant enterprises and managers to conduct a comprehensive investigation and understanding of the oilfield geology before exploiting the oil, and to find professional exploiters to design corresponding and perfect countermeasures for the exploitation of the oilfield geology. This can not only ensure the smooth geological exploitation process of the oilfield, but also ensure the economic benefits of related oilfield enterprises. Therefore, the following content is to analyze and study the technical characteristics and development countermeasures of oilfield geological development. 展开更多

Although by the publisher’s definition this is a‘single article’,it nevertheless occupies the whole of Volume 100 of the Earth Science Reviews. At 420 pages,A4 format,of a very dense,two-column print, this is actually a major book in everything but name:an approximate equivalent of a 700-800 page 23 x 16 cm volume as in the Elsevier’s Developments in Economic Geology series. So why has this work not been published as a book?Well, there are certain reasons...;more about them below. 展开更多

This themed issue of‘Episodes’is dedicated entirely to forensic geology. This provides an overview of how geologists assist the police and law enforcement to help investigate crimes. The documented application of geology to police and law enforcement dates back to the middle part of the 19th Century, and possibly to Roman times.Until the establishment of the International Union of Geological Sciences(IUGS),Initiative on Forensic Geology(IFG),in 2011,there was no international organization aimed at developing forensic geology on a global scale.Previously, forensic geologists worked in relative isolation from other fellow geologists. There were few incentives or opportunities for the advancement of forensic geology.IUGS-IFG has provided opportunities, incentives and the drive for the global development of forensic geology,as exemplified in this issue of Episodes. 展开更多
