Other causes include bronchiectasis, aspergilloma, emphysema, etc. It is characterized by extensive lung destruction and reduced lung function. Chest X-ray, chest CT, bronchography, and ventilation-perfusion ratio scan are the commonest radiologic diagnostic tools. Treatment of choice may include pneumonectomy. The study aims to highlight the common causes of destroyed lung and the major presenting complaints based on age, sex and affected lungs. Method: Published cases from English medical journals were evaluated and analyzed. Results: 31 published cases on destroyed lung were reviewed. 58.1% showed that the left lung was the most commonly affected lung. The condition was more common in males (71%). Based on our review, the commonest causes are pneumonia and tuberculosis at 25.9% and 22.8%, respectively. Conclusion: Pneumonia and Tuberculosis seem to be the commonest causes of destroyed lung based on our review, with left sided affectation being more predominant.展开更多

Aside from cervicofacial or abdominopelvic actinomycosis, pulmonary involvement is rare, and sometimes this type of infection results in a misdiagnosis of pulmonary tuberculosis or carcinoma. Clinical presentation of pulmonary actinomycosis could be acute or subacute, with lobar involvement. However, the disease is most commonly diagnosed at the chronic phase, with patients presenting mild fever, weight loss, and occasional hemoptysis. Here, we described the case of a 30-year-old male patient, presented with a history of respiratory complaints for more than three years and was diagnosed clinically and radiologically as a case of a destroyed left lung. The corrosion of ECR glass fiber was investigated by the analysis methods of weight loss ratio under different acids and at various durations.Weight loss,leaching of cations,and surface composition of ECR glass fiber ...The corrosion of ECR glass fiber was investigated by the analysis methods of weight loss ratio under different acids and at various durations.Weight loss,leaching of cations,and surface composition of ECR glass fiber were analyzed.The corrosion mechanism of ECR glass fiber in acid environment was also discussed.The experimental results showed that the corrosion degree of ECR glass fiber in different acids obeyed the order: HNO3〉H2SO4〉HCl.The acid effects on corrosion of ECR glass fiberis were totally different.Hydrochloric acid mainly destroyed the network structure of [AlO4],while sulfuric acid and nitric acid mainly destroyed the structure of [SiO4].The acid resistance of ECR glass fiber is much better than that of E glass fiber due to the generation of intermediate product silicic acid gel Si(OH)4 during ion exchange.It can adhere to the glass surface to form a thin film and hinder the proceeding of corrosion.展开更多

Fluorinated diols(FDO)with dangling chain were introduced into polyether urethanes(PEUs)as chain extender in order to achieve internal plasticization.Based on temperature dependent Fourier transform infrared(FTIR)spec...Fluorinated diols(FDO)with dangling chain were introduced into polyether urethanes(PEUs)as chain extender in order to achieve internal plasticization.Based on temperature dependent Fourier transform infrared(FTIR)spectroscopy results,the fluorinated polyether urethanes(FPEUs)exhibited weaker hydrogen bonding between C=O and N―H groups with addition of FDO.The crystallinity of hard domain was destroyed determined by thermal analysis.Combined with the results of dynamic mechanical analysis(DMA)and dissipative particle dynamics(DPD)simulation,it was proved that more loosely aggregated hard domains with weakened interaction separated from soft segment were formed.Rheological analysis indicated that FDO reduced the complex viscosity and viscous flow activation energy which endowed the polymer with more flexibility.Despite the loss of hydrogen bonds,there was no significant decline in mechanical property resulting from the decrease of hard segment dissolved in soft segment phase.The presence of fluorinated carbon side chain could function as internal plasticizer and contribute to the processability of polyurethane.展开更多

If we survey the fall of Mesopotamian empires from the beginning of written sources to the end of the Neo-Babylonian Empire we find one astonishing similarity:the warlike people that finally destroyed these empires ca...If we survey the fall of Mesopotamian empires from the beginning of written sources to the end of the Neo-Babylonian Empire we find one astonishing similarity:the warlike people that finally destroyed these empires came from the East.A number of factors,not at least geography,might explain this,but here I want to focus on the effect the Mesopotamian empires had on the bordering regions themselves and discuss the possibility that the constitution of these organized political actors pushing back against the empire was a result of Mesopotamian imperial politics themselves determined by a poor evaluation of the empire’s ability to exercise direct control of areas where military actions took place.The aim of this paper is to build on earlier work and investigate the fall of the empires of Akkad and Ur III under a systemic perspective,in order to understand which factors might have caused the decline and fall of these empires that were not merely accidental.Many reasons have been suggested for the fall of Mesopotamian empires,like climatic change(Kinnier-Wilson 2005),salinization of the soil(Powell 1985),or the arrival of new peoples.Here,I want to focus on the question of whether this“arrival of new people”may be better described as the establishment of opposing political forces.They are often described as coming out of nowhere,but I would like to suggest that this was the result of an ethnogenesis or secondary state formation at the border of the empire.展开更多
