In this paper,a new correlated covariance matrix for Multi-Input Multi-Output(MIMO)radar is proposed,which has lower Side Lobe Levels(SLLs)compared to the new covariance matrix designs and the well-known multi-antenna radar designs including phased-array,MIMO radar and phased-MIMO radar schemes.It is shown that Binary Phased-Shift Keying(BPSK)waveforms that have constant envelope can be used in a closed-form to realize the proposed covariance matrix.Therefore,there is no need to deploy different types of radio amplifiers in the transmitter which will reduce the cost,considerably.The proposed design allows the same transmit power from each antenna in contrast to the phased-MIMO radar.Moreover,the proposed covariance matrix is full-rank and has the same capability as MIMO radar to identify more targets,simultaneously.Performance of the proposed transmit covariance matrix including receive beampattern and output Signal-to-Interference plus Noise Ratio(SINR)is simulated,which validates analytical results. 展开更多

To reduce the uncertainty and reworks in complex projects,a novel mechanism is systematically developed in this paper based on two classical design structure matrix(DSM)clustering methods:Loop searching method(LSM)and function searching method(FSM).Specifically,the optimal working areas for the two clustering methods are first obtained quantitatively in terms of non-zero fraction(NZF)and singular value modularity index(SMI),in which the whole working area is divided into six sub-zones.Then,a judgement procedure is proposed for conveniently choosing the optimal DSM clustering method,which makes it easy to determine which DSM clustering method performs better for a given case.Subsequently,a conceptual model is constructed to assist project managers in effectively analyzing the network of projects and greatly reducing reworks in complex projects by defining preventive actions.Finally,the aircraft design process is presented to show how the proposed judgement mechanism can be utilized to reduce the reworks in actual projects. 展开更多

Based on the thermal network of the two-dimensional heterojunction bipolar transistors(HBTs) array, the thermal resistance matrix is presented, including the self-heating thermal resistance and thermal coupling resistance to describe the self-heating and thermal coupling effects, respectively.For HBT cells along the emitter length direction, the thermal coupling resistance is far smaller than the self-heating thermal resistance, and the peak junction temperature is mainly determined by the self-heating thermal resistance.However, the thermal coupling resistance is in the same order with the self-heating thermal resistance for HBT cells along the emitter width direction.Furthermore, the dependence of the thermal resistance matrix on cell spacing along the emitter length direction and cell spacing along the emitter width direction is also investigated, respectively.It is shown that the moderate increase of cell spacings along the emitter length direction and the emitter width direction could effectively lower the self-heating thermal resistance and thermal coupling resistance,and hence the peak junction temperature is decreased, which sheds light on adopting a two-dimensional non-uniform cell spacing layout to improve the uneven temperature distribution.By taking a 2 × 6 HBTs array for example, a twodimensional non-uniform cell spacing layout is designed, which can effectively lower the peak junction temperature and reduce the non-uniformity of the dissipated power.For the HBTs array with optimized layout, the high power-handling capability and thermal dissipation capability are kept when the bias voltage increases. 展开更多

The application of work strategies taking into account, from the initial stages, all the factors involved in the product design process is considered essential by the researches to generate higher quality products, assess users’ needs and anticipate design problems. This paper presents two approaches of design project development, denominated respectively: projects with imposed specifications and projects with derived specifications and proposes the use of the matrix that integrates specifications and design factors (SFM). This design support tool complements others already used in the development of product concepts by higher education students, increasing the capacity of synthesis and structuring of information in order to facilitate decision-making into the design process. Its elaboration implies understanding of objectives, identifying of factors and establishing of specifications. At the same time, it aims to foster the reflection process and an integrated information analysis. The application of SFM and its contribution to different project approaches are shown in this paper. 展开更多

By introducing the concept of stable matrix pair for MSOL systems, sufficient and necessary conditions for the design of the type of generalized Luenberger observers were given under the assumption of controllability and observability of the MSOL system. Based on the proposed conditions and the right coprime factorization of the system, a parametric approach to the design of such type of observers was presented. The proposed approach provides all the degrees of design freedom, which can be further utilized to achieve additional system specifications. A spring-mass system was utilized to show the effect of the proposed method. 展开更多

For digital signal processing, image processing and communication applications, data are often received at a continuously high rate. The type of necessary arithmetic functions and matrix operations may vary greatly among different applications. The RTL-based design and verification of one or more of these functions could be time-consuming. Some High Level Synthesis tools reduce this design and verification time but may not be optimal or suitable for low power applications. The design tool proposed in this paper can improve the design time and reduce the verification process. The design tool offers a fast design and verification platform for important matrix operations. These operations range from simple addition to more complex matrix operations such as LU and QR factorizations. The proposed platform can improve design time by reducing verification cycle. This tool generates Verilog code and its testbench that can be realized in FPGA and VLSI systems. The designed system uses MATLAB-based verification and reporting. 展开更多

The modular design technology is of importance increasingly,as product structure is more and more complex.Modular design systems face challenging problems as the design information tends to be dynamic,redundant,and very large.This paper describes a novel approach for handling them.In this approach,a partition is firstly performed for the complex structural components by mapping functions to the structures layer by layer.Based on this partition,a comprehensive design matrix is then developed to identify the key design mode which is driven by a special function.The design process is also programmed by analyzing the coupled information on both the functional and structural hierarchies.Then,the integrated knowledge model based on object-oriented method and hybrid inference method is constructed.In this model,knowledge can be organized at hierarchical classification and expressed with different forms.Finally,the methodology developed has been applied to a real application in automobile cylinder block design and the results are presented. 展开更多

针对现有基于单边优化的杀伤网设计方法在博弈对抗中方案有效性不足,以及博弈机制引入后因策略空间巨大导致的求解瓶颈问题,提出一种博弈对抗驱动的杀伤网设计大空间策略探索与方案优化方法。为实现杀伤网博弈对抗的有效建模,结合观察... 针对现有基于单边优化的杀伤网设计方法在博弈对抗中方案有效性不足,以及博弈机制引入后因策略空间巨大导致的求解瓶颈问题,提出一种博弈对抗驱动的杀伤网设计大空间策略探索与方案优化方法。为实现杀伤网博弈对抗的有效建模,结合观察、判断、决策和行动循环理论,考虑侦察、指控和打击三类装备,设计了杀伤网博弈的策略空间与策略约束,引入敌方打击行为导致装备精度削弱进而降低作战效能的机制量化博弈对双方收益的影响,从而建立杀伤网设计的矩阵博弈模型;针对该模型中双方策略空间规模巨大,导致传统博弈求解方法难以实现方案的高效探索与优化的问题,设计一种基于模拟退火改进的双重预言算法,该算法融合了双重预言算法的策略池迭代机制与模拟退火算法的全局搜索能力,能够有效探索大空间博弈中的混合策略纳什均衡,进行杀伤网设计方案的高效优化。案例验证结果表明,所提方法能够实现博弈对抗场景下杀伤网设计最优方案的高效求解,相比传统单边优化算法显著提升了策略期望收益,为实际体系对抗中的杀伤网设计提供了理论支持和决策依据。 展开更多

This paper presents new half rate Quasi Cyclic Low Density Parity Check (QC- LDPC) codes formed on the basis of combinatorial designs. In these codes, circulant matrices of the parity check matrix are formed on the basis of subsets in which the difference between any two elements of a subset is unique with all differences obtained from the same or different subsets. This structure of circulant matrices guarantees non-existence of cycle-4 in the Tanner graph of QC-LDPC codes. First, an irregular code with girth 6 constituted by two rows of circulant matrices is proposed. Then, more criteria will be considered on the structure of subsets with the mentioned feature aiming to represent a new scheme of regular QC-LPDC codes with girth at least 8. From simulations, it is confirmed that codes have similar to or better performance than other well-known half rate codes, while require lower complexity in their design. 展开更多

In this article, the authors employ a kind of the so-called Hamming distance method to construct uniform designs with two- or three-level such that some resulting uniform designs have a large number of runs. Several infinite classes for the existence of uniform designs with the same Hamming distances between any distinct rows are also obtained simultaneously. In this paper, chaos synchronization in the presence of parameter uncertainty, observer gain perturbation and exogenous input disturbance is considered. A nonlinear non-fragile proportional-integral (PI) adaptive observer is designed for the synchronization of chaotic systems; its stability conditions based on the Lyapunov technique are derived. The observer proportional and integral gains, by converting the conditions into linear matrix inequality (LMI), are optimally selected from solutions that satisfy the observer stability conditions such that the effect of disturbance on the synchronization error becomes minimized. To show the effectiveness of the proposed method, simulation results for the synchronization of a Lorenz chaotic system with unknown parameters in the presence of an exogenous input disturbance and abrupt gain perturbation are reported. 展开更多

Satellite design process is an interdisciplinary subject in which the need for collaboration among various science and engineering disciplines is evident.Meanwhile,finding an optimal process for conceptual design of a satellite,which can optimize time and cost,is still an important issue.In this paper,based on system engineering approach,an optimal design process is proposed for LEO satellite constellations.In the proposed method,design process,design sequences,and data flow are established.In this regard,the conceptual design process is divided into two levels of mission(or constellation)and system(or satellite)as well as 15 main activities based on the mission profile,previous experiences of the authors,and existing literature.Then,the relationships between these activities have been determined by considering the importance of relationships according to their priority.Finally,these relations are optimized based on design structure matrix(DSM).By utilizing this approach,system design process of a telecommunication satellite constellation in LEO is formulated in conceptual design phase.Performance and capability of the proposed approach in optimal design process of the satellite constellation are investigated by comparing the outcome with existing results in the literature. 展开更多
