The Mongol-Okhotsk Ocean, which has been closing gradually from the west to the east beginning since the Late Paleozoic, was an important part of the Central Asian Orogenic Belt.It influenced the tectonic framework of Northeast Asia in the Mesozoic, especially the Late Mesozoic arc-basin system that is widely distributed in the Great Xing’an Range. However, the manner in which the Mongol-Okhotsk Ocean affected the sedimentary basin development remains poorly understood. To address this issue,we conducted U-Pb dating of detrital zircon deposited sedimentary basins of the central Great Xing’an Range.By examining the possible provenances of the detrital zircon and the structural controls of the basins,we found that a key sedimentary unit was deposited around Late Jurassic-Early Cretaceous. Its provenance was a felsic source in a back-arc setting of an active continental margin. The findings also suggest the existence of a unified geodynamic setting that affected the coeval development of basins in the northern Great Xing’an Range and the Yanshan fold-thrust belt along the northern margin of North China Craton. This research helps to better understand the complex tectonic processes which shaped the Northeast Asia during the Late Mesozoic. 展开更多

The East China Sea Shelf basin is a large marginal rift basin occurred in backarc area of west Pacific. Three main regional unconformities and eleven sequence boundary isochronous surfaces (hiatuses) were developed within the basin filling, which are separared the fill succession into three tectonic sequences and fourteen sequences. The depositional response of every tectonic sequence indicates the different phases in the evolution of basin and a specific filling process or filling pattern. 展开更多

The base level during the deposition of Jurassic in the Qiangtang Basin shows a complete cycle from rising to falling. The base level change is closely connected with tectonic evolution of the basin, especially connected with Bangonghu-Nujiang ocean evolution process in the formation and evolution of the basin. It is also affected by climate. The Jurassic strata correspond to a long-term base level cycle sequence. The sequence is in fact a non-complete symmetrical cycle, consisting of rising hemicycle and falling hemicycle. It can be divided into 6 intermediate-term base level cycle sequences, including 2 carbonate sequences,3 mixture sedimentary sequences of carbonate and clastic rocks and one clastic sedimentary sequence.Depositional filling characteristics during base level change show that Bangonghu-Nujiang ocean spreads in Toarcian-Bajocian ages, and is at the height of spreading of Bangonghu-Nujiang ocean in Bathonian-Oxfordian ages.In that process, sea area became smaller because of the dry climate.Eventually, marine depositional filling is ended with the subduction and collision of Bangonghu-Nujiang ocean. 展开更多

Transcription factors (TFs) play vital roles in various biological processes by binding to cis-acting elements to control expressions of their target genes. The MYB TF BplMYB46, from Betula platyphylla, is involved in abiotic stress responses and secondary wall deposition. In the present study, we used a TF-centered yeast onehybrid technology (TF-centered YIH) to identify the cis- acting elements bound by BplMYB46. We screened a shortinsert random library and identified three cis-elements bound by BplMYB46: an E-box (CA(A/T/C)(A/G/C)TG) and two novel motifs, a TO-box (T(GIA)TCG(C/G)) and a GT-box (A(G/T)T(AIC)GT(T/G)C). Chromatin immunoprecipitation (CHIP) and effector-reporter coexpression assays inNicotiana tabacum confirmed binding of BplMYB46 to the TC-box, GT-box, and E-box motifs in the promoters of the phenylalanine ammonia lyase (PAL), peroxidase (POD), and superoxide dismutase (SOD) genes, which function in abiotic stress tolerance and secondary wall biosynthesis. This finding improves our understanding of potential regulatory mechanisms in the response to abiotic stress and secondary wall deposition of BplMYB46 in B. platyphylla. 展开更多
