The control of time delay systems is still an open area for research. This paper proposes an enhanced model predictive discrete-time sliding mode control with a new sliding function for a linear system with state delay. Firstly, a new sliding function including a present value and a past value of the state, called dynamic surface, is designed by means of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Then, using this dynamic function and the rolling optimization method in the predictive control strategy, a discrete predictive sliding mode controller is synthesized. This new strategy is proposed to eliminate the undesirable effect of the delay term in the closed loop system. Also, the designed control strategy is more robust, and has a chattering reduction property and a faster convergence of the system s state. Finally, a numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed control. 展开更多

In this paper, adaptive variable structure neural control is presented for a class of uncertain multi-input multi-output (MIMO) nonlinear systems with state time-varying delays and unknown nonlinear dead-zones. The unknown time-varying delay uncer- tainties are compensated for using appropriate Lyapunov-Krasovskii functionals in the design. The approach removes the assumption of linear function outside the deadband without necessarily constructing a dead-zone inverse as an added contribution. By utilizing the integral-type Lyapunov function and introducing an adaptive compensation term for the upper bound of the residual and optimal approximation error as well as the dead-zone disturbance, the closed-loop control system is proved to be semi-globally uniformly ultimately bounded. In addition, a modified adaptive control algorithm is given in order to avoid the high-frequency chattering phenomenon. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the approach. 展开更多

The related adjoint processes are characterized as solutions to anticipated backward stochastic differential equations in finite-dimensional spaces. Utilizing the Lyapunov functions and the impulsive-type comparison principles, we establish a series of different conditions under which impulsively controlled nonlinear systems with time-varying delays are asymptotically stable. The robust stability and robust sliding mode control problems are studied for a class of linear distributed time-delay systems with polytopic-type uncertainties by applying the parameter-dependent Lyapunov functional approach combining with a new method of introducing some relaxation matrices and tuning parameters, which can be chosen properly to lead to a less conservative result. First, a sufficient condition is proposed for robust stability of the autonomic system; next, the sufficient conditions of the robust stabilization controller and the existence condition of sliding mode are developed. The results are given in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs), which can be solved via efficient interior-point algorithms. A numerical example is presented to illustrate the feasibility and advantages of the proposed design scheme. 展开更多

By using the freeweighting matrix technique, i.e., He's technique, and a stochastic Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional, new delay-dependent criteria in terms of linear matrix inequalities are derived for the the robust stochastic stability and the H∞ disturbance attenuation. Nowadays, more and more field devices are connected to the central controller through a serial communication network such as fieldbus or industrial Ethernet. Some of these serial communication networks like controller area network (CAN) or industrial Ethernet will introduce random transfer delays into the networked control systems (NCS), which causes control performance degradation and even system instability. To address this problem, the adaptive predictive functional control algorithm is derived by applying the concept of predictive functional control to a discrete state space model with variable delay. The method of estimating the networkinduced delay is also proposed to facilitate the control algorithm implementing. Then, an NCS simulation research based on TrueTime simulator is carried out to validate the proposed control algorithm. The numerical simulations show that the proposed adaptive predictive functional control algorithm is effective for NCS with random delays. 展开更多

The system considered is continuous in time with norm bounded parametric uncertainties. By incorporating the free weighing matrix approach developed recently, some new delay-dependent stability conditions in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) with some tuning parameters are obtained. An estimate of the domain of attraction of the closed-loop system under a priori designed controller is proposed. The approach is based on a polytopic description of the actuator saturation nonlinearities and the Lyapunov- Krasovskii method. This paper presents a new robust sliding mode control (SMC) method with well-developed theoretical proof for general uncertain time-varying delay stochastic systems with structural uncertainties and the Brownian noise (Wiener process). The key features of the proposed method are to apply singular value decomposition (SVD) to all structural uncertainties and to introduce adjustable parameters for control design along with the SMC method. It leads to a less-conservative condition for robust stability and a new robust controller for the general uncertain stochastic systems via linear matrix inequality (LMI) forms. The system states are able to reach the SMC switching surface as guaranteed in probability 1. Furthermore, it is theoretically proved that the proposed method with the SVD and adjustable parameters is less conservatism than the method without the SVD. This paper presents identification of second order plus dead time (SOPDT) integrating and critically damped systems based on relay feedback testing. Relay with hysteresis is applied to the unknown system to get the sustained oscillations also called as limit cycle. The limit cycle parameters are utilized in mathematical expressions which are derived using state space technique so that exact process model parameters are estimated. As the relay with hysteresis helps in generating sustained oscillations and also reduces effect of measurement noise which is an important issue in system identification. Different types of processes in the form of transfer function models are considered to show the efficacy of the proposed method and results are compared with available methods in the literature with and without noise effect. 展开更多
