To address the issue of finegrained classification of Internet multimedia traffic from a Quality of Service(QoS) perspective with a suitable granularity, this paper defines a new set of QoS classes and presents a modified K-Singular Value Decomposition(K-SVD) method for multimedia identification. After analyzing several instances of typical Internet multimedia traffic captured in a campus network, this paper defines a new set of QoS classes according to the difference in downstream/upstream rates and proposes a modified K-SVD method that can automatically search for underlying structural patterns in the QoS characteristic space. We define bagQoS-words as the set of specific QoS local patterns, which can be expressed by core QoS characteristics. After the dictionary is constructed with an excess quantity of bag-QoSwords, Locality Constrained Feature Coding(LCFC) features of QoS classes are extracted. By associating a set of characteristics with a percentage of error, an objective function is formulated. In accordance with the modified K-SVD, Internet multimedia traffic can be classified into a corresponding QoS class with a linear Support Vector Machines(SVM) clas-sifier. Our experimental results demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed classification method. 展开更多

Movement Primitives as a Robotic Tool to Interpret Trajectories Through Learning-by-doing

Articulated movements are fundamental in many human and robotic tasks.While humans can learn and generalise arbitrarily long sequences of movements,and particularly can optimise them to ft the constraints and features of their body,robots are often programmed to execute point-to-point precise but fxed patterns.This study proposes a new approach to interpreting and reproducing articulated and complex trajectories as a set of known robot-based primitives.Instead of achieving accurate reproductions,the proposed approach aims at interpreting data in an agent-centred fashion,according to an agent s primitive movements.The method improves the accuracy of a reproduction with an incremental process that seeks frst a rough approximation by capturing the most essential features of a demonstrated trajectory.Observing the discrepancy between the demonstrated and reproduced trajectories,the process then proceeds with incremental decompositions and new searches in sub-optimal parts of the trajectory.The aim is to achieve an agent-centred interpretation and progressive learning that fts in the frst place the robots capability,as opposed to a data-centred decomposition analysis.Tests on both geometric and human generated trajectories reveal that the use of own primitives results in remarkable robustness and generalisation properties of the method.In particular,because trajectories are understood and abstracted by means of agent-optimised primitives,the method has two main features: 1) Reproduced trajectories are general and represent an abstraction of the data.2) The algorithm is capable of reconstructing highly noisy or corrupted data without pre-processing thanks to an implicit and emergent noise suppression and feature detection.This study suggests a novel bio-inspired approach to interpreting,learning and reproducing articulated movements and trajectories.Possible applications include drawing,writing,movement generation,object manipulation,and other tasks where the performance requires human-like interpretation and generalisation capabilities. 展开更多

Previous studies revealed that the error of pole coordinate prediction will significantly increase for a prediction period longer than 100 days, and this is mainly caused by short period oscillations. Empirical mode decomposition (EMD), which is increasingly popular and has advantages over classical wavelet decomposition, can be used to remove short period variations from observed time series of pole co- ordinates. A hybrid model combing EMD and extreme learning machine (ELM), where high frequency signals are removed and processed time series is then modeled and predicted, is summarized in this paper. The prediction performance of the hybrid model is compared with that of the ELM-only method created from original time series. The results show that the proposed hybrid model outperforms the pure ELM method for both short-term and long-term prediction of pole coordinates. The improvement of prediction accuracy up to 360 days in the future is found to be 24.91% and 26.79% on average in terms of mean absolute error (MAE) for the xp and yp components of pole coordinates, respectively. 展开更多
