And the performance indicators a...An operating simulation mode for multireach canal system in series under gate regulating is established. The discharge feedforward plus water lever feedback PID controller was adopted. And the performance indicators are introduced to evaluate the control effects of canal operation. Influence on dynamic response process and dynamic performance as well as the control actions of canal system are studied according to the variation of the gate deadband and water level deadband. The results showed that the larger the gate deadband, the worse, the control effect of canal system over water level, and so done the stable process of gate discharge, yet the stable process of gate opening was getting better, while the upstream gate regulation of each canal pool was less at the time when canal stabilizes; the closer to downstream end of canal, the lager steady-state error of this canal pool was, and the lager influence of gate deadband on the steady-state error as well as response time of this canal pool was; the canal system can not acquire superiority in both the control performance and control actions when only the water level deadband was established.展开更多

One of the most effective ways to reduce the negative effect of delays on the performance of networked control system (NCS) is to reduce network traffic. In this paper, adjustable deadbands are explored as a solution to reduce network traffic in NCS. A method of fault-tolerant control of networked control system is presented, which takes into account system response as well as network traffic. The integrity design for a kind of NCS with sensor failures and actuator failures is analyzed based on robust fault-tolerant control theory and information scheduling. This work addresses challenges related to the reliable control of wind energy conversion systems, based on the theoretical framework of networked control systems. A type of WECS with network-induced delay and packet dropout is modeled and adjustable deadbands are explored as a solution to reduce network traffic in WECSs. A method to study the reliable control of WECSs is presented, which takes into account system response as well as the network environment. The deadbands were respectively set up at the sensor to the controller and the controller to the actor sides in the WNCS, which were used to reduce data transmission, furthermore, to decrease the network collision and node energy consumption. Under the consideration of time-varying delays and signal transmission deadbands, the model for the WNCS was presented. A novel Lyapunov functional which took full advantages of the network factors was exploited. Meanwhile, new stability analysis and stabilization conditions for the WNCS were proposed, which described the relationship of the delay bounds, the transmission deadband bounds and the system stability. Two examples were used to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods. The results show that the proposed approach can guarantee asymptotical stability of the system and reduce the data transmission effectively.展开更多

The effects of variable network-induced de- lays, sampling intervals and data transmitting deadbands are con- sidered simultaneously and the model of the NCS is presented. A Lyapunov functional is adopted, which makes full use of the network characteristic information including the bounds of net- work delay (BND), the bounds of sampling interval (BSI) and the bounds of transmission deadband (BTD). In the meanwhile, the new H∞ performance analysis and controller design conditions for the NCSs are proposed, which describe the relationship of BND, BSI, BTD and the system's performance. Three examples are used to illustrate the advantages of the proposed methods. The results have shown that the proposed method not only effectively reduces the data traffic, but also guarantees the system asymptotically sta- ble and achieves the prescribed H∞ disturbance attenuation level.展开更多

However, the electricity generation using the renewable energy has a demerit that the output becomes unstable because of intermittent characteristics, such as variations of wind speed or solar radiation intensity. Frequency fluctuations due to the installation of large scale wind farm (WF) and photovoltaics (PV) into the power system is a major concern. In order to solve the problem, this paper proposes two control methods using High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) interconnection line to suppress the frequency fluctuations due to large scale of WF and PV. Comparative analysis between these two control methods is presented in this paper. One proposed method is a frequency control using a notch filter, and the other is using a deadband. Validity of the proposed methods is verified through simulation analyses, which is performed on a multi-machine power system model.展开更多

The m...This paper proposes a parameter determination method of distribution voltage regulators load ratio control transformers (LRT) and step voltage regulators (SVR) considering the tap change and voltage profile. The method takes two procedures in order to simplify the optimization problem and to reduce calculation time. One is to simultaneously determine the control parameters of LRT and SVR minimizing voltage violations and voltage variations. The algorithm is based on particle swarm optimization (PSO), which is one of non-linear optimization methods by using a concept of swarm intelligence. Another is to determine the dead-band width of LRT and SVR on the basis of bi-evaluation of tap change and voltage margin. The concept of a Pareto optimal solution is used for the decision of the best dead-band width. As the results of numerical simulations using distribution network model, the validity of the proposed method has been affirmed.展开更多
With the increased penetration of renewable energy sources,the grid-forming(GFM)energy storage(ES)has been considered to engage in primary frequency regulation(PFR),often necessitating the use of a frequency deadband(...With the increased penetration of renewable energy sources,the grid-forming(GFM)energy storage(ES)has been considered to engage in primary frequency regulation(PFR),often necessitating the use of a frequency deadband(FDB)to prevent excessive battery charging cycling and mitigate frequency oscillations.Implementing the FDB is relatively straightforward in grid-following(GFL)control.However,implementing the FDB in GFM control presents a significant challenge since the inverter must abstain from providing active power at any frequency within the FDB.Therefore,in this paper,the performance of PFR control in the GFM-ES inverter is analyzed in detail first.Then,the FDB is implemented for GFM inverters with various types of synchronization methods,and the need for inertia response is also considered.Moreover,given the risk of oscillations near the FDB boundary,different FDB setting methods are proposed and examined,where an improved triangular hysteresis method is proposed to realize the fast response and enhanced stability.Finally,the simulation and experiment results are provided to verify the effectiveness of the above methods.展开更多
