Among various architectures of polymers,end-group-free rings have attracted growing interests due to their distinct physicochemical performances over the linear counterparts which are exemplified by reduced hydrodynamic size and slower degradation.It is key to develop facile methods to large-scale synthesis of polymer rings with tunable compositions and microstructures.Recent progresses in large-scale synthesis of polymer rings against single-chain dynamic nanoparticles,and the example applications in synchronous enhancing toughness and strength of polymer nanocomposites are summarized.Once there is the breakthrough in rational design and effective large-scale synthesis of polymer rings and their functional derivatives,a family of cyclic functional hybrids would be available,thus providing a new paradigm in developing polymer science and engineering. 展开更多

In contrast to cyclic polymers with ring-like backbones,side-chain cyclization is another intriguing structural feature that has not been extensively studied.In this study,a library of orthogonally protected monomers featuring monocyclic,dicyclic,or tricyclic pendant motifs was designed and prepared based on malic acid derivatives.Polyesters with precise chemical structures and uniform chain lengths were prepared modularly through iterative growth.Meticulous control over the chemical details allows for a close investigation of the topological effects on the polymer properties.Compared to their linear side chain counterparts,the presence of cyclic pendant groups has a significant impact on chain conformation,leading to a reduction in hydrodynamic volume and an enhancement in the glass transition temperature.These results underscore the potential of tailoring polymer properties through rational engineering of side chain topology. 展开更多

The outstanding performance of O3-type NaNi_(1/3)Fe_(1/3)Mn_(1/3)O_(2)(NFM111)at both high and low temperatures coupled with its impressive specific capacity makes it an excellent cathode material for sodium-ion batteries.However,its poor cycling,owing to highpressure phase transitions,is one of its disadvantages.In this study,Cu/Ti was introduced into NFM111 cathode material using a solidphase method.Through both theoretically and experimentally,this study found that Cu doping provides a higher redox potential in NFM111,improving its reversible capacity and charge compensation process.The introduction of Ti would enhance the cycling stability of the material,smooth its charge and discharge curves,and suppress its high-voltage phase transitions.Accordingly,the NaNi_(0.27)Fe_(0.28)Mn_(0.33)Cu_(0.05)Ti_(0.06)O_(2)sample used in the study exhibited a remarkable rate performance of 142.97 mAh·g^(-1)at 0.1 C(2.0-4.2 V)and an excellent capacity retention of 72.81%after 300 cycles at 1C(1C=150 mA·g^(-1)). 展开更多

This study presents and verifies a hybrid methodology for reliable determination of parameters in structural rheological models(Zener,Burgers,and Maxwell)describing the viscoelastic behavior of polyurethane specimens manufactured using extrusion-based 3D printing.Through comprehensive testing,including cyclic compression at strain rates ranging from 0.12 to 120 mm/min(0%-15%strain)and creep/relaxation experiments(10%-30%strain),the lumped parameters were independently determined using both analytical and numerical solutions of the models’differential equations,followed by cross-verification in additional experiments.Numerical solutions for creep and relaxation problems were obtained using finite element analysis,with the three-parameter Mooney-Rivlin model and Prony series employed to simulate elastic and viscous stress components,respectively.Energy dissipation per cycle was quantified during cyclic compression tests.The results demonstrate that all three models adequately describe material behavior within the 0%-15%strain range across various strain rates.Comparative analysis revealed the Burgers model’s superior performance in characterizing creep and stress relaxation at low strain levels.While Zener and Burgers model parameters from uniaxial compression showed limited applicability for energy dissipation calculations,the generalized Maxwell model effectively captured viscoelastic properties across different strain rates.Notably,parameters derived from creep tests provided a more universal assessment of dissipative properties due to optimization based on characteristic curve regions.Both parameter sets described polyurethane’s elastic-hysteretic behavior with approximately 20%error,proving significantly more accurate than the linear strain-time dependence hypothesis.Finite element analysis(FEA)complemented numerical modeling by demonstrating that while the generalized Maxwell model effectively describes initial rapid stress-strain changes,FEA provides superior characterization of steady-state processes.This computational approach yields more physically representative results compared to simplified analytical solutions,despite certain limitations in transient analysis. 展开更多

环GMP-AMP合酶(cyclic GMP-AMP synthase,cGAS)是一种关键的细胞内传感器,能够识别细胞质内异常存在的DNA并触发免疫反应。为了揭示cGAS在软体动物先天性免疫调控中的重要作用,本研究成功克隆了长牡蛎中的cGAS基因(CgcGAS),其开放阅读框... 环GMP-AMP合酶(cyclic GMP-AMP synthase,cGAS)是一种关键的细胞内传感器,能够识别细胞质内异常存在的DNA并触发免疫反应。为了揭示cGAS在软体动物先天性免疫调控中的重要作用,本研究成功克隆了长牡蛎中的cGAS基因(CgcGAS),其开放阅读框(open reading frame,ORF)全长1623bp,编码540个氨基酸,理论相对分子质量为62.3kDa,并具有保守的Mab21结构域。系统进化分析表明了CgcGAS为软体动物cGAS家族中的一员。定量逆转录聚合酶链式反应(qRTPCR)结果显示CgcGAS广泛表达于各组织,并在消化腺的相对表达量最高。亚细胞定位实验观察到CgcGAS蛋白在细胞核和细胞质中都有分布,主要定位于细胞核,提示其可能在细胞核内的DNA感应以及细胞质内的DNA结合和信号传递中发挥作用。另外,双荧光素酶报告基因系统和RNA干扰实验结果显示,CgcGAS能够显著激活核因子κB(nuclear factor kappa-B,NF-κB)和干扰素刺激性反应元件(interferon-sensitive response element,ISRE)信号通路,及其下游的炎症相关因子干扰素诱导病毒抑制蛋白(virus inhibitory protein endoplasmic reticulum-associated interferon-inducible,viperin)、肿瘤坏死因子(tumor necrosis factor,TNF)、白细胞介素-17(interleukin-17,IL-17)及转录因子干扰素调节因子2/8(interferon regulatory factor 2/8,IRF2/8)的表达。综上所述,CgcGAS在长牡蛎的先天性免疫反应中的信号传递过程中发挥了关键作用。 展开更多

Designing catalysts with high catalytic activity and stability is the key to achieve the commercial application of MgH_(2).Herein,the sulfur doped Ti_(3)C_(2)(S-Ti_(3)C_(2))was successfully prepared by heat treatment of Ti_(3)C_(2)MXene under Ar/H_(2)S atmosphere to facilitate the hydrogen release and uptake from MgH_(2).The S-Ti_(3)C_(2)exhibited pleasant catalytic effect on the hydriding/dehydriding kinetics and cyclic stability of MgH_(2).The addition of 5 wt%S-Ti_(3)C_(2)into MgH_(2)resulted in a reduction of 114℃in the starting dehydriding temperature compared to pure MgH_(2).MgH_(2)+5 wt%S-Ti_(3)C_(2)sample could quickly release 6.6 wt%hydrogen in 17 min at 220℃,and 6.8 wt%H_(2)was absorbed in 25 min at 200℃.Cyclic testing revealed that MgH_(2)+5 wt%S-Ti_(3)C_(2)system achieved a reversible hydrogen capacity of 6.5 wt%.Characterization analysis demonstrated that Ti-species(Ti0,Ti^(2+),Ti-S,and Ti^(3+))as active species significantly lowered the dehydrogenation temperature and promoted the re-/dehydrogenation kinetics of MgH_(2),and sulfur doping can effectively improve the stability of Ti0 and Ti^(3+),contributing to the improvement of cyclic stability of MgH_(2).This study provides strategy for the construction of catalysts for hydrogen storage materials. 展开更多

This work aims to reveal the mechanical responses and energy evolution characteristics of skarn rock under constant amplitude-varied frequency loading paths.Testing results show that the fatigue lifetime,stress−strain responses,deformation,energy dissipation and fracture morphology are all impacted by the loading rate.A pronounced influence of the loading rate on rock deformation is found,with slower loading rate eliciting enhanced strain development,alongside augmented energy absorption and dissipation.In addition,it is revealed that the loading rate and cyclic loading amplitude jointly influence the phase shift distribution,with accelerated rates leading to a narrower phase shift duration.It is suggested that lower loading rate leads to more significant energy dissipation.Finally,the tensile or shear failure modes were intrinsically linked to loading strategy,with cyclic loading predominantly instigating shear damage,as manifest in the increased presence of pulverized grain particles.This work would give new insights into the fortification of mining structures and the optimization of mining methodologies. 展开更多

Cyclic changes in the internal pressure of compressed air energy storage reservoirs in abandoned coal mines result in complex alternating loads on the rocks surrounding the energy storage reservoirs.These complex alternating loads can be regarded as multi-stage constant-amplitude cyclic loads following simplification.In this paper,the mechanical responses and acoustic emission(AE)characteristics of red sandstone with five bedding dip angles(0°,30°,45°,60°,and 90°)under such loads are investigated,and the damage evolution processes of the five specimens are revealed from both quantitative and microscopic perspectives.The results show that the fatigue deformation characteristics of the specimens are affected by the bedding dip angle.Under cyclic loads,the axially irreversible plastic deformations of the rocks increase,their elastic stiffness increases,their crack volumetric strain increases and then decreases,and their AE cumulative count/energy curves exhibit a ladder shape.A damage evolution model based on the crack volumetric strain is proposed,and the damage evolution process is divided into two stages:a rapid increase stage and a tendency toward stabilization stage.Through cluster analysis,the AE events are used to classify the damage into three categories:small-sized localized damage,large-sized tensile damage,and large-sized shear damage.Finally,the MohreCoulomb criterion is applied to analyze the relationship between the failure modes of the red sandstone specimens and the dip angle of the bedding.The results of this study will help to predict the stability and safety of compressed air energy storage reservoirs in abandoned coal mines. 展开更多

To mitigate the challenges in managing the damage level of reinforced concrete(RC)pier columns subjected to cyclic reverse loading,this study conducted a series of cyclic reverse tests on RC pier columns.By analyzing the outcomes of destructive testing on various specimens and fine-tuning the results with the aid of the IMK(Ibarra Medina Krawinkler)recovery model,the energy dissipation capacity coefficient of the pier columns were able to be determined.Furthermore,utilizing the calibrated damage model parameters,the damage index for each specimen were calculated.Based on the obtained damage levels,three distinct pre-damage conditions were designed for the pier columns:minor damage,moderate damage,and severe damage.The study then predicted the variations in hysteresis curves and damage indices under cyclic loading conditions.The experimental findings reveal that the displacement at the top of the pier columns can serve as a reliable indicator for controlling the damage level of pier columns post-loading.Moreover,the calibrated damage index model exhibits proficiency in accurately predicting the damage level of RC pier columns under cyclic loading. 展开更多

To completely recover valuable elements and reduce the amount of waste,the impact of phosphoric acid on the decomposition of rare earth,fluorine and phosphorus during cyclic leaching was studied based on the characteristics of low-tempe rature sulfuric acid deco mposition.When a single monazite was leached using 75 wt% H_(2)SO_(4) solution with phosphoric acid,the size and number of monazite particles in the washing slag gradually decrease with the increase in phosphoric acid content in the leaching solution.The monazite phase can hardly be found in the slag when the phosphoric acid content reaches 70 g/L,which indicates that phosphoric acid is favorable for monazite decomposition.The mixed rare earth concentrate was leached by 75 wt% H_(2)SO_(4) containing 70 g/L phosphoric acid,the mineral compositions of the washing slag are only gypsum and unwashed rare earth sulfuric acid.After cyclic leaching of75 wt% H_(2)SO_(4),the mineral compositions of the primary leaching washing slag are mainly undecomposed monazite,rare earth sulfate and calcium sulfate.However,monazite is not found in the mineral phase of the second and third leaching washing slag.The leaching rates of rare earth and phosphorus gradually increase with the increase in cyclic leaching times.In addition,the phosphoric acid content in the leaching solution increases with the increase in the number of cyclic leaching time.However,the rising trend decreases when the phosphoric acid content reaches 50 g/L by adsorption and crystallization of phosphoric acid.A small amount of water can be used to clean the leaching residue before washing to recover the more soluble phosphorus acid according to the difference of dissolution between phosphoric acid and rare earth sulfuric acid. 展开更多

Purpose–The study aims to build a high-precision longitudinal dynamics model for heavy-haul trains and validate it with line test data,present an optimization method for multi-stage cyclic brakes based on the model and conduct a multi-objective detailed evaluation of the driver’s manipulation during cyclic braking.Design/methodology/approach–The high-precision longitudinal train dynamics model was established and verified by the cyclic braking test data of the 20,000 t heavy-haul combination train on the long and steep downgrade.Then the genetic algorithm is employed for optimization subsequent to decoupling multiple cyclic braking procedures,with due consideration of driver operation rules.For evaluation,key manipulation assessments in the scenario are prioritized,supplemented by multi-objective evaluation requirements,and the computational model is employed for detailed evaluation analysis.Findings–Based on the model,experimental data reveal that the probability of longitudinal force error being less than 64.6 kN is approximately 68%,95%for less than 129.2 kN and 99.7%for less than 193.8 kN.Upon optimizing manipulations during the cyclic braking,the maximum reduction in coupler force spans from 21%∼23.9%.Andtheevaluation scoresimply that a proper elevationof the releasingspeed favorssafety.A high electric braking force,although beneficial to some extent for energy-saving,is detrimental to reducing coupler force.Originality/value–The results will provide a theoretical basis and practical guidance for further ensuring the safety and energy-efficient operation of heavy haul trains on long downhill sections and improving the operational quality of heavy-haul trains. 展开更多

The fatigue fracture under cyclic dynamic direct tensions of brittle rock is an important mechanical characteristic index for the evaluation of geological disasters and underground engineering safety.However,most studies focus on macroscopic fracture mechanical properties,and the mechanism linking the macroscopic fracture with the microcrack growth during the cyclic dynamic direct tensile loading of brittle rocks is rarely studied.In this paper,a micro-macro fracture model explaining the stress-strain constitutive relationship is established at the last impact failure after being subjected to multiple cyclic direct tensile impacts of brittle rocks.This model is based on the wing crack extension model under direct tensile loading,the quasi-static and dynamic fracture toughness relationship,the suggested crack rate and strain rate relationship,the relationship of damage and dynamic tensile fatigue life N,the relationship of dynamic fracture toughness and dynamic tensile fatigue life N.The variations of dynamic mechanical properties of rocks with dynamic tensile fatigue life for different initial crack sizes and angles within the rocks are further discussed.The compressive strength,elastic modulus,crack initiation stress,limit crack extension length and crack extension rate descend and the failure strain ascends with an increment of dynamic tensile fatigue life in rocks.This study's results provide help for the safety and stability of the underground surrounding rocks under blasting working or seismic disasters. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Cyclic vomiting syndrome(CVS)and its effect on nutritional status has not been well described.AIM To describe the clinical characteristics,treatment and outcomes of children with CVS in Singapore.METHODS Retrospective cohort study of pediatric patients aged 1 to 18 years old with CVS diagnosed at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Singapore from 2011 to 2021.RESULTS Thirty-two children(69%female)with CVS were included in the study,with mean age of onset of symptoms at 7(±4)years and mean follow up duration of 5 years.Forty percent(12/32)of patients were underweight at diagnosis with no other identifiable organic cause,with a median body mass index(BMI)z score-3.2(range-2 to-7.5).The incidence of systemic hypertension was 10%(3/32).The overall mean frequency of exacerbations in this cohort of patients was 4(±4)episodes per year.In total,16(50%)patients,who had mean baseline frequency of 6(±5)attacks per year,were commenced on prophylactic treatment.Twelve patients(75%)responded to first-line therapy,whereas 4(25%)required escalation to second-line treatment.With prophylactic treatment,there was an overall improvement in the frequency of attacks with a mean reduction of 5(±3)attacks per year.Also,there was improvement in the BMI z score of these patients from a median of-2.9 to-0.9.CONCLUSION Prophylactic treatment is effective in improving nutritional status as well as reducing symptom frequency and should be considered for patients with complications such as growth failure and significant hypertension. 展开更多

It is important to analyze the damage evolution process of surrounding rock under different water content for the stability of engineering rock mass.Based on digital speckle correlation(DSCM),acoustic emission(AE)and electromagnetic radiation(EMR),uniaxial hierarchical cyclic loading and unloading tests were carried out on sandstones with different fracture numbers under dry,natural and saturated water content,to explore the fracture propagation,failure precursor characteristics and damage response mechanism under the influence of water content effect.The results show that with the increase of water content,the peak stress and crack initiation stress decrease gradually,and the decreases are 15.28%-21.11%and 17.64%-23.04%,respectively.The peak strain and crack initiation strain increase gradually,and the increases are 19.85%-44.53%and 19.15%-41.94%,respectively.The precracked rock with different water content is mainly characterized by tensile failure at different loading stages.However,with the increase of water content,the proportion of shear cracks gradually increases,while acoustic emission events gradually decrease,the dissipative energy and energy storage limits of the rock under peak load gradually decrease,and the charge signal increases significantly,which is because the lubrication effect of water reduces the friction coefficient between crack surfaces. 展开更多

In underground engineering felds,such as mining engineering,rocks are often subjected to cyclic loading,resulting in the deterioration of their mechanical properties,which poses a serious threat to engineering construction.Thus,investigating the mechanical response of rocks under cyclic loading is meaningful.Cyclic loading experiments were conducted on sandstone samples with diferent cyclic stress amplitudes(CSAs).First,the deformation characteristics and strain energy evolution were analyzed.The internal fracture extension and fragmentation characteristics of sandstone after failure were subsequently analyzed.Finally,the failure mechanism of sandstone was investigated.The results revealed that deformation,failure mode,and particle fragmentation characteristics were afected by the CSA,with the peak strain being greatest in sandstone samples subjected to the greatest CSA.With increasing CSA,the load‒unload response ratio of sandstone under the last cyclic stage generally tends to increase.Furthermore,there was an increasing trend in the dissipated energy percentage of sandstone as the CSA increased,which was a result of the increased energy used to drive fracture extension.Moreover,the sandstone exhibited a tensile‒shear composite failure mode dominated by shear failure.Nevertheless,with increasing CSA,the shear failure surface became more obvious.In addition,the proportion of small blocks and the fragmentation fractal dimension increased as the CSA increased,which indicated a high degree of fragmentation.Additionally,a sandstone damage constitutive model was developed to describe the results.Eventually,the macro-meso failure mechanism of sandstone considering CSA effects was revealed.Under high CSA,the internal fracture extension and particle friction of sandstone increased,which is the internal cause.The mechanical parameters indicated strong deformation and high dissipated energy characteristics,which is the external manifestation.This investigation is important for preventing the occurrence of disasters in underground engineering,such as coal mining. 展开更多

During underground excavation,the surrounding rock mass is subjected to complex cyclic stress,significantly impacting its long-term stability,especially under varying water content conditions where this effect is amplified.However,research on the mechanical response mechanisms of surrounding rock mass under such conditions remains inadequate.This study utilized acoustic emission(AE)and resistivity testing to monitor rock fracture changes,revealing the rock’s damage state and characterizing the damage evolution process during uniaxial cyclic loading and unloading.First,a damage variable equation was established based on AE and resistivity parameters,leading to the derivation of a corresponding damage constitutive equation.Uniaxial cyclic loading and unloading tests were then conducted on sandstone samples with varying water contents,continuously monitoring AE signals and resistivity,along with computed tomography scans before and after failure.The predictions from the damage constitutive equation were compared with experimental results.This comparison shows that the proposed damage variable equation effectively characterizes the damage evolution of sandstone during loading and unloading,and that the constitutive equation closely fits the experimental data.This study provides a theoretical basis for monitoring and assessing the responses of surrounding rock mass during underground excavation. 展开更多
