This service robot can deliver a requested payload (towels, bed-sheets, drinks or toiletries) to a customer. As evident with modern technology, robots are assisting man in several avenues of the service industry. This designed service robot can propose an error free service, work around the clock and consume less time with requested tasks. The prototype can handle two commands received from two different rooms simultaneously. It has the ability to choose to always deliver to the closest room from its base first. Also, it has the function to carry two different types of payloads in two of its compartments and to lift up the desired payload ordered by the customer using a scissor lift system. The service robot also uses a touch screen to interact with the customer. The algorithm of the design ensures that the payload will always be delivered to the right customer in due time.展开更多

The integration of Communicative Language Testing(CLT)principles with AI-driven automated assessment poses a significant challenge in professional language testing.Addressing this issue within the specific context of ...The integration of Communicative Language Testing(CLT)principles with AI-driven automated assessment poses a significant challenge in professional language testing.Addressing this issue within the specific context of Civil Aviation Ground Service English,this study explores pathways for their logical reconciliation.Through conceptual analysis and theoretical deduction,with a focus on human-AI interaction scenarios,we demonstrate that the synergy between CLT and AI stems from a shared focus on competency measurement.Key findings reveal that:(1)standardized competency dimensions in CLT can be operationalized into data-processable formats for AI;(2)within professional contexts,AI algorithms can be tailored using authentic service corpora to meet CLT’s demand for situational authenticity;and(3)a division of labor based on competency level-where AI handles standardized scoring of lower-order competencies and human-AI collaboration assesses higher-order competencies-effectively resolves the tension between CLT’s dynamic communication and AI’s static algorithms.Ultimately,the study constructs a three-dimensional integration framework encompassing“professional register,”“competency level,”and“human-AI division of labor,”offering a theoretical model for CLT-AI integration and a practical blueprint for innovating Civil Aviation Ground Service English assessment.展开更多

The shortcomings of transhipment-method and hibernation-method are to increase holistic cost of service and to slower ...Reducing cost of service is an important goal for resource discovery and interaction technologies. The shortcomings of transhipment-method and hibernation-method are to increase holistic cost of service and to slower resource discovery respectively. To overcome these shortcomings, a context-aware computing-based method is developed. This method, firstly, analyzes the courses of devices using resource discovery and interaction technologies to identify some types of context related to reducing cost of service, then, chooses effective methods such as stopping broadcast and hibernation to reduce cost of service according to information supplied by the context but not the transhipment-method’s simple hibernations. The results of experiments indicate that under the worst condition this method overcomes the shortcomings of transhipment-method, makes the “poor” devices hibernate longer than hibernation-method to reduce cost of service more effectively, and discovers resources faster than hibernation-method; under the best condition it is far better than hibernation-method in all aspects.展开更多

The appearance of shared and on-deman...Public transport services, particularly bus services, play an important role in a sustainable transportation system. However, despite various efforts, bus ridership has decreased. The appearance of shared and on-demand vehicle services is one of the main reasons for this issue. In addition, bus tourism services have been successfully developed to meet the exigent needs of tourists. Therefore, a new level of daily bus service is necessary to adapt to the changing demands of customers. Bus interaction (BI) plays an important role in bus services. Nevertheless, the conventional concept of BI mainly refers to users, physical interaction, and safety, but it does not address non-users, non-physical interactions, service quality, and other aspects. This study aims to elaborate on a new concept of bus services. Based on this, we developed a theoretical framework for BI. A meta-analysis was then conducted to identify the achievements and untouched aspects. The results of this study provide three main contributions. First, an unprecedented novel concept of BI is defined, including 13 types of interactions. Second, a comprehensive theoretical framework of BI is established based on the relationships between eight sustainable bus system sub-aspects and 13 BI types. Third, based on the theoretical framework and findings of the reviewed studies, a common finding comprehensive framework of BI is completed, which is accompanied by 1) key findings of the 13 BI types, 2) conclusions of traffic conditions affecting BI research, 3) BI research gaps, and 4) 16 main suggestions for future BI research.展开更多

It is also shown that the philosophy of ADRC is consistent with the essential characteristics of intelligence evolution. Most importantly, we concentrate on five core issues which will be encountered when applying ADRC to deal with intelligence evolution for service robot, that is, how to eliminate the impact of unknown composite disturbances, how to handle the nonholonomic constraints in uncalibrated visual servoing, how to realize eye-hand-torque coordination, how to deal with the disturbance in simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM), and how to reject the imperfections induced by network in human-robot interaction. Although today’s users of mobile phones are afforded increasing control as the popularity and richness of information provided by smartphones increases, how these users make choices and evaluations cannot be explicit...Although today’s users of mobile phones are afforded increasing control as the popularity and richness of information provided by smartphones increases, how these users make choices and evaluations cannot be explicitly expressed. This study uses an acute observation of designers of technology and aesthetics to conduct a mental-model analysis of smartphones with the purpose of explicitly identifying the differences in the schemas of users. This study also modifies the mental model to evaluate the practicability of the mental model. Hence, this study investigates groups of subjects, comparing freshmen and graduating students froma college of design, and adopts a schematized data collection and analysis approach, Interactive Qualitative Analysis (IQA), to ascertain the relationships between factors and establish a complete user mental model. The study results present 11 primary affinity factors: “Pricing,” “Advertisement,” “User Interface,” “Innovation Functions,” “System Maintenance,” “Privacy,” “Utility Functions,” “Personalization,” “Network Performance,” “Customer Service,” and “Multimedia Contents.” The primary driver in evaluating smartphones is found to be “Pricing” for graduating students and “Privacy” for freshmen. The two groups share the same final effect factor, “Multimedia Contents.” This study has successfully identified differences between the different mental models of the two groups, supporting the method that using IQA to perform a quality evaluation of social networking for smartphones is effective.
