Gap dynamics in the U.S.between urban areas in the current trend and in sustainable scenario

The gap between the projected urban areas in the current trend(UAC)and those in the sustainable scenario(UAS)is a critical factor in understanding whether cities can fulfill the requirements of sustainable development.However,there is a paucity of knowledge on this cutting-edge topic.Given the extensive and rapid urbanization in the United States(U.S.)over the past two centuries,accurately measuring this gap between UAS and UAC is of critical importance for advancing future sustainable urban development,as well as having significant global implications.This study finds that although the 740 U.S.cities have a large UAC in 2100,these cities will encom pass a significant gap from UAC to UAS(approximately 165,000 km2),accounting for 30%UAC at that time.The study also reveals the spatio-temporal heterogeneity of the gap.The gap initially increases before reaching a inflection point in 2090,and it disparates greatly from−100%to 240%at city level.While cities in the Northwestern U.S.maintain UAC that exceeds UAS from 2020 to 2100,cities in other regions shift from UAC that exceeds UAS to UAC that falls short of UAS.Filling the gap without additional urban growth planning could lead to a reduction of crop production ranging from 0.3%to 3%and a 0.68%loss of biomass.Hence,dynamic and forward-looking urban planning is essential for addressing the challenges of sustainable development posed by urbanization,both within the U.S.and globally. 展开更多

Minimally UKA is one of the recent and the majority successful procedures in modern orthopedics for the osteoarthritis which is spreading throughout the worldwide. Recently, many orthopedic surgeons are expanding their abilities in this field. However, it needs good knowledge and well experience for the successful clinical outcomes. The minimal invasive approach is more efficient for short hospital stay and faster postoperative recovery with low morbidity of the patients after UKA. The aim of this article is to emphasize the steps in UKA based on modern facts: function of knee joint, diagnosis, less invasive approach for medial condylar replacement, radiographic evaluation, and earlier recovery, selecting the patient and implant survivorship with review of surgery. 展开更多

Abstract The Law on the Protection of Disabled Persons is the first social security legislation in China, with more than 50 laws directly related to the legal protection of the rights of persons with disabilities and career development for people with disabilities. In terms of employment protections for people with disabilities, it is important to focus on effective legal implementation, utilizing legal rulings to limit employment discrimination against people with disabilities. Educational protections are an important precondition for enabling people with disabilities to live with dignity; it should be guaranteed that people with disabilities are provided "reasonable accommodation" in educational conditions. A barrier-free environment is a necessary condition for social integration of people with disabilities. At the same time, it also benefits other members of the society such as the elderly. Through rehabilitation and exercise, most people with disabilities can return to the society to a significant degree. China should gradually expand the legislative scope of rehabilitation service fee reductions and legal categories of auxiliary appliances, issuing guiding documents that provide specifications for the relevant "dormant" legal provisions. 展开更多

目的 系统分析中国老年人口及疾病负担现状与趋势,为健康老龄化政策提供科学依据。方法 基于联合国、国家统计局、健康测量与评价研究中心(IHME)等最新官方数据,选取老年人口占比、抚养比以及疾病与危险因素DALY等指标,评估老年人口及... 目的 系统分析中国老年人口及疾病负担现状与趋势,为健康老龄化政策提供科学依据。方法 基于联合国、国家统计局、健康测量与评价研究中心(IHME)等最新官方数据,选取老年人口占比、抚养比以及疾病与危险因素DALY等指标,评估老年人口及疾病负担的现状与变化趋势。结果 中国老龄化快速发展,预计2030年中国60岁及以上人口占比将接近30%,老年抚养比明显上升。老年疾病负担以心脑血管疾病等慢病为主,肺癌、阿尔茨海默病、听力损失及糖尿病负担快速上升。代谢性危险因素(如高体质指数和高低密度脂蛋白)成为健康关键影响因素;性别差异明显,男性主要面临吸烟等行为危险因素,而女性受高收缩压等代谢危险因素影响大。结论 老龄化加剧了老年人群疾病负担结构转变,应借鉴国际经验,优化医疗与社会保障,加强慢病综合管理,推广健康生活方式,聚焦代谢性危险因素和行为环境干预管理,实施性别化健康管理,助力实现健康老龄化。 展开更多
