In the present work,free vibration and buckling analyses of sandwich plates with various functionally graded foam cores are carried out.Foam cores are assumed to be made of metal,and three different configurations of ...In the present work,free vibration and buckling analyses of sandwich plates with various functionally graded foam cores are carried out.Foam cores are assumed to be made of metal,and three different configurations of the porous distribution in the core layer are taken into consideration.To carry out a comparative study between the distributions of pores in the core foam,the mass of foam in all three cases is kept the same.The vibration and buckling behaviors of skew plates are also analyzed as a part of the current investigation.The principle of minimization of potential energy and Hamilton’s principle are used for the derivation of the governing equations,while a C-0 finite element-based higher-order zigzag formulation is developed to solve the free vibration and buckling problems.The influences of gradation laws,boundary conditions,skew angle and geometry of plates are studied in detail for the dynamic and stability characteristics.It is found that both the non-dimensional natural frequency and buckling load decrease with the increase in the thickness of the metal foam cores,while they show an increasing trend as the skew angle of the plate increases.展开更多

And the α-naphthalenyl was connected to the core by the Suzuki coupling reaction. A new carbosilane dendrimer with big π-conjugated structure [4-(naphthalen-l-yl)phenyl core] was given. It shows Suzuki coupling reaction is an effective and powerful core-functionalization method and the satisfactory result can be obtained through prolonging the reaction time with the increase of the generation of dendrimer.展开更多
Commercial sterility does not guarantee the sustained stability of ultrahigh temperature(UHT)milk over 6 months shelf life.We explore the microbiota presented in normal(SZ)and quality deteriorated UHT milk(QY and WY)p...Commercial sterility does not guarantee the sustained stability of ultrahigh temperature(UHT)milk over 6 months shelf life.We explore the microbiota presented in normal(SZ)and quality deteriorated UHT milk(QY and WY)products from the same brand.Based on high-throughput sequencing research results,11 phyla and 54 genera were identified as dominant microbiota.Pseudomonas,Streptococcus,and Acinetobacter as core functional microbiota significantly influenced the UHT milk quality properties.Moreover,principal component analysis(PCA)and multivariate analyses were used to examine the quality characteristics,including 11 physicochemical parameters,10 fatty acids,and 2 enzyme activities,in normal and quality deteriorated UHT milk.We found that the abundance of Pseudomonas increased in quality deteriorated milk(WY)and showed a significant positive correlation with heat-resistant protease content.Acinetobacter in quality deteriorated milk(QY)also considerably contributed to the content of heat-resistant lipase,which resulted in spoilage deterioration of UHT milk.展开更多

Functional redundancy in soil microbial communities seems to contradict the notion that individual species have distinct metabolic niches in multi-species communities.All soil microbiota have the metabolic capacity fo...Functional redundancy in soil microbial communities seems to contradict the notion that individual species have distinct metabolic niches in multi-species communities.All soil microbiota have the metabolic capacity for"basic"functions(e.g.,respiration and nitrogen and phosphorus cycling),but only a few soil microbiota participate in"rare"functions(e.g.,methanogenesis and mineralization of recalcitrant organic pollutants).The objective of this perspective paper is to use the phylogenetic niche conservatism theory as an explanation for the functional redundancy of soil microbiota.Phylogenetic niche conservatism is defined as the tendency for lineages to retain ancestral functional characteristics through evolutionary time-scales.The present-day soil microbiota is the result of a community assembly process that started when prokaryotes first appeared on Earth.For billions of years,microbiota have retained a highly conserved set of core genes that control the essential redox and biogeochemical reactions for life on Earth.These genes are passed from microbe to microbe,which contributes to functional redundancy in soil microbiota at the planetary scale.The assembly of microbial communities during soil formation is consistent with phylogenetic niche conservatism.Within a specific soil,the heterogeneous matrix provides an infinite number of sets of diverse environmental conditions,i.e.,niches that lead to the divergence of microbial species.The phylogenetic niche conservatism theory predicts that two or more microbial species diverging from the same clade will have an overlap in their niches,implying that they are functionally redundant in some of their metabolic processes.The endogenous genetic factors that constrain the adaptation of individuals and,thus,populations to changing environmental conditions constitute the core process of phylogenetic niche conservatism.Furthermore,the degree of functional redundancy in a particular soil is proportional to the complexity of the considered function.We conclude with a conceptual model that identifies six patterns of functional redundancy in soil microbial communities,consistent with the phylogenetic niche conservatism theory.展开更多
Organic carbonyl compounds are considered as promising candidates for lithium batteries due to theirhigh capacity and environmental friendliness, However, they suffer from serious dissolution in the elec-trolyte, lead...Organic carbonyl compounds are considered as promising candidates for lithium batteries due to theirhigh capacity and environmental friendliness, However, they suffer from serious dissolution in the elec-trolyte, leading to fast capacity decay. Here we report core-shell structured 1,4-benzoquinone@titaniumdioxide (BQ@TiO2) composite as cathode for lithium batteries. The composite cathode can deliver a highdischarge capacity of 441.2 mA h/g at 50 mA/g and a high capacity retention of 80.7% after 100 cycles. Thegood cycling performance of BQ@TiO2 composite can be attributed to the suppressed dissolution of BQ,which results from the physical confinement effect of Ti02 shell and the strong interactions between BQand Ti02. Moreover, the combination of ex situ infrared spectra and density functional theory calculationsreveals that the active redox sites of BQ are carbonyl groups. This work provides an alternative way tomitigate the dissolution of small carbonyl compounds and thus enhance their cycling stability.展开更多
