To identify risk factors of the doctor burn-out is vital to improving their health and increasing the quality of healthcare services. This study aims to explore the relationship between work-family confict (WFC) and burn-out among Chinese doctors and the mediating role of coping styles in this relationship. Methods A cross-sectional survey was conducted in China, with a questionnaire packet which consisted of the Chinese Maslach Burnout Inventory (CMBI), WFC Scale and the Simplifed Coping Style Questionnaire (SCSQ). A total of 2530 doctors participated in the survey. Correlation analysis was performed to explore the relationship between CMBI, WFC and SCSQ scores. A linear regression model was set to determine the mediating role of coping styles on the relationship between WFC and burn-out.Results Doctors who had higher scores on work interfering with family confict, reported more emotional exhaustion (r=0.514, P〈0.001) and had a sense of accomplishment (r= 0.149, P〈0.001). Simultaneously, family interfering with work (FIW) was positively associated with all dimensions of burn-out (r=0.213, 0.504, 0.088, respectively, P〈0.001). Coping styles had partial, complete and even mediating effects on the relationship between WFC and burn-out among Chinese doctors. Conclusions WFC was correlated with burn-out, and coping style was a mediator in this relationship among Chinese doctors. Coping style was a positive resource against burn-out.展开更多

However, operating room nursing staff, as a job with high professional requirements, not only need to fully cooperate with the attending physician to complete the operation in daily work, but also need to communicate well with patients and their families to ensure the smooth treatment. In this process, heavy work and the incomprehension of patients and their families will affect the mental health of nursing staff in the operating room, causing damage to their homeostasis, leading to their inability to work and live normally. Therefore, it is of great significance to strengthen the analysis of the working source and influencing factors of mental health problems of operating room nursing staff and put forward targeted coping methods for improving the effectiveness of their work and promoting the career development of operating room nursing staff. In this context, this paper mainly discusses the stressors, mental health and coping modes of operating room nurses.展开更多

Such individual differences in ways of coping with stress are relevant both in biomedicine, since different personalities may experience a different stress and disease vulnerability, and in behavioural ecology, since their adaptive value and evolutionary maintenance are the subject of debate. However, the precise way in which individual stress differences and personalities are linked is unclear. Here we provide an updated overview of this covariation across different species and taxa, consider its functional significance and present working hypotheses for how behavioural and physiological responses to stress might be causally linked, affecting life-history traits such as dispersal and life-span [Current Zoology 56 (6): 728-740, 2010].展开更多

文摘Objectives:To investigate the parenting stress, care burden, and coping styles in mothers of autistic children during the pandemic of COVID-19.The outbreak of COVID-19 and the closure of education and care centers for these children may affect stress, care burden, and adaptation of these mothers. Methods:This study was a cross-sectional research.A total of 110 mothers completed questionnaires.Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics(frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation),independent t-test,ANOVA,and multiple linear regressions. Results:Findings showed that parenting stress has a strong and direct correlation with caring burden(P<0.001,r=0.95),and a strong and indirect correlation with coping styles(P<0.001,r=−0.91).Variables of caring burden, coping strategies, mother’s age, mother’s job, mother’s education, number of autistic children, economic status, children’s age,and functional level of autism in children can predict 72.21%of the variance in parenting stress in these mothers. Conclusions:In the present study, parenting stress of mothers of autistic children was reported to be high during the COVID-19 pandemic.Based on the findings of this study,it can be concluded that pediatric nurses and health policymakers should provide a suitable educational and supportive environment for mothers of autistic children to enhance the coping level of these mothers and consequently reduce their parenting stress and care burden.
文摘BACKGROUND Resilience is an individual’s ability and psychological rebound capacity to adapt well after experiencing adversity, trauma, etc.Patients with strong resilience can face illnesses actively.AIM To determine the association of resilience with coping styles and quality of life in patients with malignancies.METHODS This study included patients with malignant tumors who were hospitalized at Fuyang Hospital Affiliated to Anhui Medical University from March 2022 to March 2024.The Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale,Medical Coping Modes Questionnaire,Social Support Rating Scale, and the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire Core 30 were utilized to assess patients’resilience, coping styles, social support, and quality of life, respectively.Pearson correlation analysis was conducted to assess the correlations.RESULTS A total of 175 patients with malignant tumors demonstrated no marked difference in terms of age, education level, employment status, monthly household income, and disease staging(P<0.05).Further,patients with malignancies demonstrated scores of 17.49±1.20,17.27±1.46,and 11.19±1.29 points in terms of coping styles in confrontation, avoidance, and resignation dimensions, respectively.Subjective support, objective support, and support utilization scores in terms of social support were 10.67±1.80,11.26±2.08,and 9.24±1.14 points, respectively. The total resilience score and tenacity,self-improvement,and optimism dimension scores were positively correlatedwith the confrontation coping style score, whereas the total resilience score and tenacity and self-improvementscores were negatively associated with avoidance and resignation coping style scores(P<0.05).The total resiliencescore and the tenacity dimension score were positively associated with physical, role, cognitive, emotional, andsocial functions,as well as global health status(P<0.05),and were inversely related to fatigue, insomnia, andeconomic difficulties(P<0.05).CONCLUSIONThe resilience of patients with malignancies is positively associated with the confrontation dimension in the copingstyle, the total and various social support domain scores, and the overall quality of life.Clinical medical staff needto pay attention to the effect of medical coping styles and social support on the resilience level of patients withmalignancies to further improve their quality of life.
文摘Breast cancer is considered one of the most frequent causes of morbidity and death in women.Individuals’response to information regarding health threats and illness can influence the adjustment of the treatment to existing conditions including the issues of non-completion of treatment or non-attendance at medical appointments. The study aimed to examine the relationship between illness perception, body image dissatisfaction and(mal)adaptive coping styles in breast cancer patients.A sample of 197 patients with diagnosed breast cancer hospitalized at the Center for Oncology and Radiology,Kragujevac,Serbia, was surveyed. The instruments included sociodemographic questionnaire,a Brief Illness Perception Questionnaire(BIPQ),a Body Image Scale(BIS),and a Mini-Mental Adjustment to Cancer Scale(Mini-MAС).Results showed that 52%of the variance of maladaptive coping style in women who underwent mastectomy was explained by the negative illness perception, while body image dissatisfaction reflected through this connection(CFI>.95,GFI>.95,RMSEA=.01,SRMR=.08).Similar results were found in patients with breast-conserving surgery but with lower percentage(36%)of variance explained(CFI>.95,GFI>.95,RMSEA<.02,SRMR<.05).If confirmed by further studies, these results would suggest that patients who underwent mastectomy tend to be more dissatisfied with their body image, have tendency to perceive illness as threatening and resort to maladaptive coping styles. However, any form of appearance modification, including breast-conserving surgery, carries the risk of body image dissatisfaction, and consequently the risk of maladaptive coping behaviors. Our results suggest that health professionals and public policies should put an additional focus on the assessment of the patient’s body image dissatisfaction,to improve the health and wellbeing of the affected women.
文摘Background:With public health emergencies(PHE)worldwide increasing, the perceived risk of PHE has been one of the critical factors influencing college students’psychological distress. However, the mechanisms by which the perceived risk of PHE affects college students’psychological distress are not clear. The study’s purpose was to investigate the mediation roles of deviation from a balanced time perspective(DBTP)and negative coping styles between the perceived risk of PHE and psychological distress. Methods:A convenience sampling method was used to survey 1054 Chinese college students with self-reporting.Data was collected using the Public Risk Perception Scale(PRPS),the Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory(ZTPI),the Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire(SCSQ),the PHE Anxiety Scale, and the Chinese version of the Patient Health Questionnaire(PHQ).The associations between the perceived risk of PHE,DBTP,negative coping styles, and psychological distress were clarified using the correlation analysis.Additionally, the mediating roles of DBTP and negative coping styles between the perceived risk of PHE and psychological distress were investigated using a structural equation model. Results:The findings revealed low to moderate correlations between the variables studied.Students’perceived risk of PHE was a positive predictor of their psychological distress(b=0.219,p<0.01).DBTP and negative coping styles played chain mediation roles between them with the effect being 0.009 and a 95%Boot CI of[0.003,0.023].This chain mediation model had an excellent fit index(χ^(2)/df=4.732,CFI=0.973,TLI=0.930,RMSEA=0.048,SRMR=0.047).Conclusion:These findings showed how the perceived risk of PHE affected college students’psychological distress.Specifically, these results suggested that improving students’mental ability to switch effectively among different time perspectives depending on task features and situational considerations and reducing their negative coping styles might be effective ways to promote their mental health.

文摘Background Burn-out among doctors threatens their own health, and that of their patients. Coping style was a positive resource against burn-out.

文摘BACKGROUND In the information age,the use of the internet and multimedia tools has large effects on the life of middle school students.Improper use of the internet may result in internet addiction(IA).Thus, actively exploring the factors influencing adolescent and the mechanism of addiction as well as promoting adolescent physical and mental health and academic development are priorities that families, schools, and society urgently need to address.AIM To explore the effect of childhood trauma on adolescent IA and to consider the roles of loneliness and negative coping styles.METHODS A total of 11310 students from six junior high schools in Henan,China, completed the child trauma questionnaire,IA test, loneliness scale, and simple coping style questionnaire. In addition, data were collected from 1044 adolescents with child-hood trauma for analysis with IBM SPSS 26.0 and AMOS 28.0;we examined the relationships among childhood trauma,IA,loneliness, and negative coping styles.RESULTS We found that childhood trauma not only directly affected adolescents’IA but also affected IA through loneliness and negative coping styles.CONCLUSION Therefore, this study has theoretical implications regarding adolescent mental health and may inform interventions for IA.
文摘Stressors mainly refer to the environmental stimulation caused by the society for individuals, which leads to emotional instability, mental health problems and body problems. In this context, this paper mainly discusses the stressors, mental health and coping modes of operating room nurses.
文摘Objective:The aim of this study was to survey the coping style and related factors of elderly women with stress urinary incontinence(SUI)and provide a strong theoretical basis for promoting a positive coping style to improve quality of life in these patients.Methods:Cross-sectional surveys addressing SUI cognition and coping techniques of 520 elderly women patients with SUI were administered between July 2013 and February 2014.Results:Elderly women with SUI had significantly higher avoidance and acceptanceresignation scores than the normal population(p<0.05).Age,marital status, education level and stress urinary incontinence cognitive level all influenced the medical coping style of these patients. Conclusions:Elderly female patients with SUI differ in the factors that influence their coping styles;therefore, clinical and community medical staff should include a comprehensive analysis that takes these factors into consideration when working with patients with SUI to guide them in adopting a positive coping style.

文摘Background:Some personality traits could be a predictor for coping styles. The objective of this investigation was to examine the correlation between personality traits and coping mechanisms in the context of gene regulation among breast cancer patients.Material and methods:This cross-sectional study was performed in 2021.A total of 200 breast cancer patients were included in this study.Data were collected using the Trait Coping Style Questionnaire(TCSQ)and the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire-Revised Short Scale for Chinese(EPQ-RSC).And individuals’blood was tested for genotype. Results:The findings indicated that there existed an inverse relationship between extraversion and negative coping style while also demonstrating a significant association between extraversion and positive coping style.Neuroticism was positively correlated with negative coping style but negatively with positive coping style. The SNP of NTSR1 only moderated the relationship between neuroticism and negative coping styles in breast cancer patients. Conclusion:The present investigation delves into the correlation between personality traits and coping mechanisms at the molecular level in breast cancer patients.
文摘This study explored how perceived social support(PSS)influences the sense of meaning in life(SML)among rural college students, considering positive coping styles(PCS)as a mediator and psychological resilience(PR)as a moderator.1444 college students(females;23.55%only child;M_(age)=19.76 years,SD=1.07;76.66%)were recruited from Jilin province in China. The college students self-reported their perceived social support and positive coping styles, psychological resilience, and sense of meaning in life. The results indicated that higher perceived social support predicted higher college students’sense of meaning in life.Perceived social support positively contributes to college students’sense of meaning in life through the mediating role of positive coping styles.Psychological resilience moderates the first path of the indirect association, where the positive effect of perceived social support on positive coping styles is more pronounced in college students with higher psychological resilience compared to those with lower psychological resilience. These align with Social Support Theory and Psychological Resilience Theory. That is,individuals with effective social support systems can enhance their positive coping styles, thereby increasing their sense of meaning in life, while psychological resilience strengthens the positive impact of perceived social support on positive coping styles. These findings offer the evidence for intervening and supporting the development of college students’sense of meaning in life.To enhance rural college students’sense of meaning in life,it is essential to establish a comprehensive social support system, promote the development of positive coping styles, and provide targeted training to strengthen psychological resilience.

文摘Background:The phenomenon of academic anxiety has been demonstrated to exert a considerable influence on students’academic engagement, leading to the emergence of a phenomenon known as“learned helplessness”and undermining the selfconfidence and motivation of high school students.Using acceptance-rejection theory, this study elucidated how a rejective parenting style affects Chinese high school students’academic anxiety and explored the urban-rural heterogeneity of this relationship. Methods:Data were analyzed using a stratified whole-cluster random sampling method. There are a total of 30,000 high school students in the three regions of northern and central China(from Shanxi,Hebei and Henan).A sample of 2286 high school students aged 14–19 years was ultimately selected from 2760 respondents for this investigation, which was conducted at the beginning of the 2023 school year.Pearson correlation, ordinary least squares(OLS)regression analysis, path analysis, and Fisher’s permutation test(FPT)were used to examine the effects of rejective parenting style on high school students’academic anxiety. Results:Results indicated a significant positive predictive effect between rejective parenting style and academic anxiety among high school students(β=0.815,t=116.211,p<0.001).Students’self-concept was significantly positively related to positive coping style(β=0.424,t=21.208,p<0.001)and chain-mediated this relationship. Therefore, this parenting style may indirectly mitigate academic anxiety through these mediators. The study also found that the effect of rejective parenting style on academic anxiety varied by students’residential background and was more pronounced in urban areas(0.226)than in rural areas(0.130).Conclusion:The research underscores the imperative for Chinese families to reexamine their utilization of rejection parenting and to prioritize the cultivation of students’intrinsic attributes. These findings offer a theoretical framework and practical evidence for policymakers and educators to develop efficacious and targeted interventions. In particular, greater attention should be directed towards the discrepancies in the manifestation of emotional and academic anxiety between urban and rural students, and prompt guidance should be furnished.

文摘BACKGROUND Uncertainty in illness(UI)and fear of progression(FoP)are significant psycho-logical challenges for lung cancer patients.Coping styles and social support are critical mediators, influencing patients'ability to manage the emotional and psy-chological burden of UI and FoP.However, limited research has explored the chain mediation effect of these factors on the relationship between UI and FoP,particularly among Chinese lung cancer patients.Convenience sampling was used to recruit inpatients diagnosed with lung cancer at a tertiary hospital in Changde City between November and December 2023.A total of 320 participants completed the Mishel Uncertainty in Illness Scale,Simp-lified Coping Style Questionnaire,Mandarin Chinese Version of the Medical Outcomes Study Social Support Survey, and Fear of Progression Questionnaire-Short Form. The chain mediation analysis was performed using the PROCESS macro to examine the relationships between the variables.RESULTS The results revealed that UI had a significant direct effect on FoP(effect=0.224,95%CI:0.136-0.408).Additionally,three indirect pathways were identified:(1)Social support(effect=0.128,95%CI:0.045-0.153);(2)Coping style(effect=0.115,95%CI:0.048-0.157);and(3)Chain mediators involving social support and coping style(effect=0.072,95%CI:0.045-0.120).The total indirect effect of the three mediation paths is 31.5%.These results confirm that social support and coping style significantly mediate the relationship between UI and FoP.CONCLUSION Based on cross-sectional data and a chain mediation model, this study explored the mechanisms between UI,social support, coping style, and FOP.Patients with lung cancer have higher levels of FOP,and the results of this study revealed a correlation between these four factors.Social support and coping style partially mediated the effects of UI on FOP,and there was a chain-mediating effect between UI and FOP.Programs designed to strengthen social support networks should also incorporate training to develop adaptive coping strategies, ultimately reducing FOP and improving overall quality of life.
文摘Objective:To explore the application value of the extended nursing intervention mode in senile dementia patients. Methods:A total of 60 cases of Alzheimer’s disease patients were selected as the research subjects and divided using the random number table method into the control group and the observation group, each with 30 cases. The control group adopted conventional nursing, while the observation group adopted the extended nursing model of this study. The self-care ability, quality of life, cognitive function, and the frequency of unsafe behaviors were compared between the two groups. Results:After 6 months of intervention, the results showed that the scores of all dimensions in the relevant data tables such as the activity of daily living(ADL)scale, simple intelligence scale, and health survey scale in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The incidence of unsafe behaviors in the observation group was lower than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(χ^(2)=5.963,P<0.05).Conclusion:Extended nursing plays a positive role in the nursing of Alzheimer’s patients, including improving their cognitive function and restoring their self-care ability,so as to significantly improve their quality of life and reduce the occurrence of unsafe behaviors. It can be seen that the extended nursing intervention mode can be vigorously promoted in clinical practice.
文摘In the past decade there has been a profusion of studies highlighting covariation between individual differences in stress physiology and behavioural profiles, here called personalities. Here we provide an updated overview of this covariation across different species and taxa, consider its functional significance and present working hypotheses for how behavioural and physiological responses to stress might be causally linked, affecting life-history traits such as dispersal and life-span [Current Zoology 56 (6): 728-740, 2010].
