Power batteries serve as key components of new energy vehicles and are distinguished by their large capacity, long lifespan, high energy density, and stable operation. The strict temperature demands of power battery packs necessitate the development of highly efficient thermal management systems. In this study,a converging-diverging liquid cooling channel featuring a wave shaped structure was designed and analyzed for 18,650-type lithium-ion batteries. To investigate the design methodology for flow channel structure,a thermal model for the heat generation rate of the 18,650-type battery was developed.A comparative analysis of four geometrical configurations of convergingdiverging channels. It identified the flat-bottomed channel achieves a maximum reduction of 20.6%in peak internal temperature compared to the other designs.Subsequently, the effects of the arc depth, cell spacing, and Reynolds number on the heat dissipation of the flat-bottomed flow channel were comprehensively investigated. The results demonstrated that increasing the Reynolds number, maximizing the arc depth of the converging-diverging structure, and reducing cell spacing considerably improved the cooling heat dissipation efficiency.Based on the particle swarm optimization algorithm, the optimal parameter combination of the battery pack was obtained at a discharge rate of 2C,comprising an arc depth of 8.5 mm,cell spacing of 1 mm,and Reynolds number of 700.The study provides valuable guidance and references for the practical design and implementation of thermal management systems in new energy vehicles. 展开更多

Pressure drop and compound heat transfer characteristics of a converging-diverging tube with evenly spaced twisted-tapes (CD-T tube) have been investigated experimentally. Swirl was generated by evenly spaced twisted-tape elements which vary in twist ratio and rotation angle. Space ratio also has an important effect on the characteristics. For comparison, experiments in a smooth circular tube and a converging-diverging (CD) tube with-out twisted-tapes were carried out. The results show that the twisted-tape with twist ratio y=4.72 and rotation angle θ=180° has the best performance among the four types of twisted-tapes presented in this paper. At Reynolds number ranging from 3400 to 20000, when space ratio s=48.6, the heat transfer efficiency index, which increases as the Reynolds number increases, is 0.85-1.21 and 1.07-1.15 compared to that of a smooth circular tube and a CD tube without twisted-tape inserts, respectively. 展开更多

The paper presents a 3D numerical simulation of turbulent heat transfer and flow characteristics in converging-diverging tubes (CDs) and converging-diverg)ng tubes.equi.pped with twin counter-swirling twisted tapes (CDTs). The effects of Reynolds number (Re= 10000-20000), pitch length (P= 11.25, 22.5 mm), rib height (e = 0.5, 0.8, 1.1 ram), pitch ratio (8= 1 " 8, 5 " 4, 8 " 1), gap distance between twin t)visted tapes (b = 0.5, 4.5, 8.5 mm) and tape number (n = 2, 3, 4, 5, 6) on Nusselt number (Nu), Iriction tactor 0') and thermal enhancement factor (r/) are investigated under uniform heat flux conditions, using water as working fluid. In order to illustrate the heat transter and tlu^d tlow mechamsms, flow structures m ~StJs and ~SDIs are presented. The obtained results reveal that all geometric parameters have important effects on the thermal performance of CD and CDT, and both CD and CDT show better thermal performance than plain tube at the constant pumping power. It is also found that the increases in the Nusselt number and friction factor for CDT are, respectively, up to 6.3%-35.7% and 1.75-5.3 times of thecorresponding bare CD. All CDTs have good thermal perbrmance with greater than 1 which indicates that the compound heat transfer technique of CDT is commendable for the maximum enhanced heat transfer rate. 展开更多

To predict the thrust of bubbly water ramjet with a converging-diverging nozzle, the physical processes occurring in the diffuser, mixing chamber and nozzle were analyzed. The mathematical models were constructed separately under the restrictions of certain assumptions. The bubbly nozzle flow was examined using a two-fluid model and accomplished by specifying the water velocity distribution in the nozzle. The numerical analysis of flow field in the nozzle shows that the Mach number at the throat is 1.009, near unity, and supersonic bubble flow appears behind the throat. There is greater thrust produced by bubbly water ramjet, compared with single-phase air ramjets. Subsequently, the influences of vessel velocity, air mass flow rate, inlet area Ai, area ratio (i.e., mixing chamber to inlet area Am/Ai), and initial bubble radius on the thrust were emphatically investigated. Results indicate that the thrust increases with the increase of air mass flow rate, inlet area and the area ratio, and the decrease of initial bubble radius. However, the thrust weakly depends on the vessel velocity. These analytical and numerical results are useful for further investigation of bubbly water ramjet engine. 展开更多

The one-dimensional Navier–Stokes equations are used to derive analytical expressions for the relation between pressure and volumetric flow rate in capillaries of five different converging-diverging axisymmetric geometries for Newtonian fluids. The results are compared to previously derived expressions for the same geometries using the lubrication approximation. The results of the one-dimensional Navier–Stokes are identical to those obtained from the lubrication approximation within a nondimensional numerical factor. The derived flow expressions have also been validated by comparison to numerical solutions obtained from discretization with numerical integration. Moreover, they have been certified by testing the convergence of solutions as the converging-diverging geometries approach the limiting straight geometry. 展开更多

The purpose of this work is to investigate experimentally the pressure drop of drag-reducing polymer solutions in the fully developed flow region in a periodically sudden converging-diverging tube as well as in a straight tube.Testing fluids were aqueous polyacrylamide solutions with concentration ranged from 200 to 1400 w.p.p.m.,and the Reynolds number ranged from 5 x 103 to 7 x 104.Drag-reducing phenomenon is found to exist in the straight tube flow with the viscoelastic fluid, while in the periodically sudden converging-diverging tube the friction factor is insensitive to the concentration of solution 展开更多
