To handle input and output time delays that commonly exist in many networked control systems(NCSs), a new robust continuous sliding mode control(CSMC) scheme is proposed for the output tracking in uncertain single input-single-output(SISO) networked control systems. This scheme consists of three consecutive steps. First, although the network-induced delay in those systems can be effectively handled by using Pade approximation(PA), the unmatched disturbance cames out as another difficulty in the control design. Second, to actively estimate this unmatched disturbance, a generalized proportional integral observer(GPIO) technique is utilized based on only one measured state. Third, by constructing a new sliding manifold with the aid of the estimated unmatched disturbance and states, a GPIO-based CSMC is synthesized, which is employed to cope with not only matched and unmatched disturbances, but also networkinduced delays. The stability of the entire closed-loop system under the proposed GPIO-based CSMC is detailedly analyzed.The promising tracking efficiency and feasibility of the proposed control methodology are verified through simulations and experiments on Quanser's servo module for motion control under various test conditions. 展开更多

A criterion for the passivity of time-delay systems was firstly provided in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMI). Then an LMI sufficient condition for the existence of a robust filter was established and a design procedure was proposed for this type of systems. A composite anti-disturbance predictive control strategy employing a Multi-dimensional Taylor Network(MTN)is presented for unmanned systems subject to time-delay and multi-source disturbances.First,the multi-source disturbances are addressed according to their specific characteristics as follows:(A)an MTN data-driven model,which is used for uncertainty description,is designed accompanied with the mechanism model to represent the unmanned systems;(B)an adaptive MTN filter is used to remove the influence of the internal disturbance;(C)an MTN disturbance observer is constructed to estimate and compensate for the influence of the external disturbance;(D)the Extended Kalman Filter(EKF)algorithm is utilized as the learning mechanism for MTNs.Second,to address the time-delay effect,a recursiveτstep-ahead MTN predictive model is designed utilizing recursive technology,aiming to mitigate the impact of time-delay,and the EKF algorithm is employed as its learning mechanism.Then,the MTN predictive control law is designed based on the quadratic performance index.By implementing the proposed composite controller to unmanned systems,simultaneous feedforward compensation and feedback suppression to the multi-source disturbances are conducted.Finally,the convergence of the MTN and the stability of the closed-loop system are established utilizing the Lyapunov theorem.Two exemplary applications of unmanned systems involving unmanned vehicle and rigid spacecraft are presented to validate the effectiveness of the proposed approach. 展开更多

This paper discusses the design of event-triggered output-feedback controller for a class of nonlinear time-delay systems with multiple uncertainties. In sharp contrast to previous works, the considered systems possess two important characteristics: (i) The uncertain nonlinear terms meet the linearly unmeasurable-states dependent growth with the growth rate being an unknown function of the input and output. (ii) There exist input matching uncertainty and unknown measurement sensitivity. By introducing a single dynamic gain and employing a cleverly devised event-triggering mechanism (ETM), we design a new gain-based event-triggered output-feedback controller, which globally regulates all states of the considered systems and maintains global boundedness of the closed-loop system. Furthermore, the estimation of input matching uncertainty achieves convergence towards its actual value, and Zeno behavior does not happen. Two simulation examples including a practical one show that the proposed approach is effective. 展开更多

They allow the design of a controller for an uncertain process, either continuous or discrete-time, without zeros, and with measurable state. The controller guarantees that the control system is Type 1 and has the desired constant gain and poles or that the control system tracks, with a specified maximum error and with a specified maximum time constant, a generic reference with bounded derivative (variation in the discrete-time case), also in the presence of a generic disturbance with bounded derivative (variation). In addition, it is considered the case in which the reference is known a priori. The utility and the efficiency of the proposed methods are illustrated with attractive and significant examples of motion control and temperature control. This book is useful for the design of control systems, especially for manufacturing systems, that are versatile, fast, precise and robust. 展开更多

A sampled data estimation covariance is given by taking intersample behaviour into account. The primary purpose of this paper is to design robust discrete time Kalman filters such that the sampled data estimation covariance is not more than a prespecified value, and therefore the error variances achieve the desired constraints. It is shown that the addressed problem can be converted into a similar problem for a fictitious discrete time system. The existence conditions and the explicit expression of desired filters were both derived. Finally, a simple example was presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed design procedure. 展开更多

The H∞ filtering problem for continuous-time polytopic uncertain time-delay systems is investigated. Attention is focused on the design of full-order filters guaranteeing a prescribed H∞ attenuation level for the filtering error system. First, a simple alternative proof is given for an improved linear matrix inequality (LMI) representation of H∞ performance. Then, based on the performance criterion which keeps Lyapunov matrices out of the product of system dynamic matrices, a suficient condition for the existence of robust estimators is formulated in terms of LMIs, and the corresponding filter design is cast into a convex optimization problem which can be effciently handled by using standard numerical algorithms. It is shown that the proposed design strategy allows the use of parameter-dependent Lyapunov functions and hence it is less conservative than some earlier results. A numerical example is employed to demonstrate the feasibility and advantage of the proposed design. 展开更多

Relerrlng to contlnuous-Ume claaotlc systems, tills paper presents a new projective syncnromzatlon scheme, wnlcn enables each drive system state to be synchronized with a linear combination of response system states for any arbitrary scaling matrix. The proposed method, based on a structural condition related to the uncontrollable eigenvalues of the error system, can be applied to a wide class of continuous-time chaotic (hyperchaotic) systems and represents a general framework that includes any type of synchronization defined to date. An example involving a hyperchaotic oscillator is reported, with the aim of showing how a response system attractor is arbitrarily shaped using a scalar synchronizing signal only. Finally, it is shown that the recently introduced dislocated synchronization can be readily achieved using the conceived scheme. 展开更多

We investigate the time evolution of quantum correlations, which are measured by Gaussian quantum discord in a continuous-variable bipartite system subject to common and independent non-Markovian environments. Considering an initial two-mode Gaussian symmetric squeezed thermal state, we show that quantum correlations can be created during the non-Markovian evolution, which is different from the Markovian process. Furthermore, we find that the temperature is a key factor during the evolution in non-Markovian environments. For common reservoirs, a maximum creation of quantum correlations may occur under an appropriate temperature. For independent reservoirs, the non-Markovianity of the total system corresponds to the subsystem whose temperature is higher. In both common and independent environments, the Gaussian quantum discord is influenced by the temperature and the photon number of each mode. 展开更多

This paper presents a new result of stability analysis for continuous systems with two dierent time-varying delay components, new delay-dependent asymptotic stability criterion of continuous systems is proposed by exploiting an improved Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional candidate and an improved approximation method without resorting to any model transformation and free weighting matrix technique. This new criteria has advantages over some previous ones in that it involves few matrix variables and has less computational eort and conservatism. This criterion is expressed by a set of linear matrix inequalities, which can be tested by using the LMI toolbox in Matlab.
