In an attempt to understand different cultures in the use of idioms which related to animals,this study collected,compared,and analyzed Chinese and English idioms on"马"and"horse"by references to a...In an attempt to understand different cultures in the use of idioms which related to animals,this study collected,compared,and analyzed Chinese and English idioms on"马"and"horse"by references to a large number of dictionaries.The results show that in Chinese,the idioms on horse has the following features:above all,it covers evenly in commendatory,neutral,and derogatory senses;more specifically,it has a direct link to war in the commendatory sense while in neutral and derogatory senses,its references have been broadened;another common phenomenon is that horses in Chinese idioms are usually a large collection.However,English idioms in the use of horse favors on the derogatory sense since they focus more on the nature of horse-stubborn,arrogant,and even condescending.If horses are praised,they mostly refer to the talented people rather than any other things.The similarities and differences in the use of"马"and"horse"help to probe into the color of culture between eastern and western countries.展开更多

In addition to the fever and respiratory symptoms in the process of coronavirus infections, gastrointestinal symptoms, especially diarrhea, are prominent features of its acute infection and long COVID. The associations between the lung and large intestine have been demonstrated by Western medicine in aspects such as tissue origin, microflora homeostasis, mucosal immunity, renin-angiotensin system(RAS) and autonomic nervous system as well, which are considered as the evidence of material basis and potential regulatory mechanisms for “gutlung crosstalk(肺肠串扰)” in COVID-19. We have noticed that probiotics and other preparations can regulate the intestines, and further treat COVID-19 with effective and gratifying results. In the system of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM), there's a term of “exterior-interior pairing of the lung and large intestine(肺与大肠相表里)”, showing an interconnection of the lung and the bowels. “Exterior-interior pairing of the lung and large intestine” is an important part of the theory of visceral activities proposed by ancient physicians through a long-term observation and practice. It's considered that “lung” and “large intestine” are interconnected and mutually exterior-interior in the normal physical activities and the disease development, providing a theoretical basis for treating lung diseases and bowel diseases from the perspective of overall concept. It's considered that “lung” and “large intestine” are interconnected and mutually exterior-interior in the normal physical activities and the disease development, providing a theoretical basis for treating lung diseases and bowel diseases from the perspective of overall concept. The study aims to compare the term of “exterior-interior pairing of the lung and large intestine” in TCM and “gut-lung crosstalk” in Western medicine regarding the development of COVID-19 and its intestinal symptoms, and provide more ideas for diagnosing and treating lung and bowel related diseases.

文摘There are many idioms related to color words in English and Chinese.The use of color words in idioms adds beauty and vividness to the language.Due to the cultural differences,“color idioms”have gained different cultural connotations with the development of English and Chinese languages.It is of great significance to accurately understand and grasp the meanings and differences of color-related idioms in Chinese and English.This paper intends to analyze and expound the cultural connotations of English and Chinese idioms related to several widely used basic color words with the aim of helping English learners know and use the idioms about color words better.
