All the samples emitted both 660 nm red light and 543/523 nm green light which originated from Er^3+-4f^n electronic transitions ~4F(9/2-~4I(15/2 and ~4S(3/2/~2H(11/2-~4I(15/2, respectively. It was worth mentioning that YbF 3:Er^3+, Ba2 YbF7:Er^3+, and BaF2:Er^3+ could emit dazzlingly bright light even under the excitation of a 980 nm CW laser with output power of 0.1 W. Upconversion emission mechanism analysis indicated that the intensity ratio of red to green light highly depended on the synergistic effect of crystal structure, concentration quenching, and particle size, but were not sensitive to crystallinity as previously reported for NaL nF4(Ln=lanthanide.展开更多

It is the most common inherited demyelinating neuropathy. Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a common metabolic disorder that frequently causes predominantly sensory neuropathy. In this study, we report the occurrence of CMT1 A in a Chinese family affected by type 2 diabetes mellitus. In this family, seven individuals had duplication of the PMP22 gene, although only four had clinical features of polyneuropathy. All CMT1 A patients with a clinical phenotype also presented with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The other three individuals had no signs of CMT1 A or type 2 diabetes mellitus. We believe that there may be a genetic link between these two diseases.展开更多

The paper first outlines the origin and development of the'strong-bodyearthquake-generating model' proposed by the author in the 1980;and then proves the reasonableness of themodel from three aspects, namely: deep structures, mechanical analysis and rock fracture experiments. Bystudying the tomographic image for the northern part of North China, it can be seen that the sources of strongearthquakes are all distributed in high-velocity bodies,or in the contact zone between high-velocity and lowvelocity bodies but nearer to the high-velocity body. It has been affirmed through studies of the mechanical modelsof hard and soft inclusions that the existence of a hard inclusion is an imPOrtant condition for the high concentration of large amounts of strain energy. A lot of theoretical and experimental studies have been made to investigate the conditions for rock instability; the results have consistently indicated that rock instability, sudden fracture and stress drop would be possible only if the stiffness of the source body is greater than the environmentalstiffness.展开更多

The profile of the model consists of eight smoothly connected arcs, the radiuses of which are determined by 5 design variables.By changing the design variables, the profile of the non-circular hole can be transformed to accommodate different load ratios, thereby improving the stress concentration of the area near the hole and that of the turbine disk. The uniaxial symmetry non-circular hole is optimized based on finite element method(FEM), in which the maximum first principal stress is taken as the objective function. After optimization, the stress concentration is evidently relieved; the maximum first principal stress and the maximum von Mises stress on the critical area are reduced by 30.39% and 25.34%respectively, showing that the uniaxial symmetry non-circular hole is capable of reducing the stress level of bolt clearance holes on the turbine disk.展开更多

However, fungi as key organisms for nutrient cycling in ecosystems as well as multiple pesticide applications are not considered in the RA. In this study, the effects of multiple low pesticide pulses using regulatory acceptable concentrations(RACs) on the dynamics of non-target aquatic fungi were investigated in a study using pond mesocosm. For that, fungi colonizing black alder(Alnus glutinosa) leaves were exposed to multiple, low pulses of 11 different pesticides over a period of 60 days using a real farmer's pesticide application protocol for apple cropping.Four pond mesocosms served as treatments and 4 as controls. The composition of fungal communities colonizing the litter material was analyzed using a molecular fingerprinting approach based on the terminal Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism(t-RFLP) of the fungal Internal Transcribed Spacer(ITS) region of the ribonucleic acid(RNA) gene(s). Our data indicated a clear fluctuation of fungal communities based on the degree of leaf litter degradation. However significant effects of the applied spraying sequence were not observed. Consequently also degradation rates of the litter material were not affected by the treatments. Our results indicate that the nutrient rich environment of the leaf litter material gave fungal communities the possibility to express genes that induce tolerance against the applied pesticides. Thus our data may not be transferred to other fresh water habitats with lower nutrient availability.展开更多

The sensor was fabricated usingstandard microfabrication techniques and adopted the identicalInGaN/GaN MQWs, which enables simultaneous emission anddetection. The sensor is featured with a double concentric circlestructure which supports both on-chip and off-chip detectionmechanisms, being capable of detecting environmental parameterslike rotational speed, proximity, and sucrose concentration. It exhibits stable photocurrent response to rotational speed up to8000 rpm, a 3 cm vertical detection range, and a linear responsewith 3.9 nA/% sensitivity to changes in sucrose concentration, which demonstrates the potential for diverse applications in industrial and biomedical fields.展开更多
