The mathematical logic model of high arch dam construction ...A method of combining dynamic simulation with real-time control was proposed to fit the randomness and uncertainty in the high arch dam construction process. The mathematical logic model of high arch dam construction process was established. By combining dynamic construction simulation with schedule analysis, the process of construction schedule forecasting and analysis based on dynamic simulation was studied. The process of real-time schedule control was constructed and some measures for dynamic adjustment and control of construction schedule were provided. A system developed with the method is utilized in a being constructed hydroelectric project located at the Yellow River in northwest China, which can make the pouring plan of the dam in the next stage (a month, quarter or year) to guide the practical construction. The application result shows that the system provides an effective technical support for the construction and management of the dam.展开更多

The method is a variation of the pseudodynamic testing technique in which the experiment is executed in real time, thus allowing investigation of structural systems with rate-dependent components. Real-time hybrid simulation is challenging because it requires performance of all calculations, application of displacements, and acquisition of measured forces, within a very small increment of time. Furthermore, unless appropriate compensation for actuator dynamics is implemented, stability problems are likely to occur during the experiment. This paper presents an approach for real-time hybrid simulation in which compensation for actuator dynamics is implemented using a model-based feedforward compensator. The method is used to evaluate the response of a semi-active control of a structure employing an MR damper. Experimental results show good agreement with the predicted responses, demonstrating the effectiveness of the method for structural control performance assessment.展开更多

The analysis of the FE numerical substructure is split into response analysis and signal generation tasks, and executed in two different target computers in real-time. One target computer implements the response analysis task, wherein a large time-step is used to solve the FE substructure, and another target computer implements the signal generation task, wherein an interpolation program is used to generate control signals in a small time-step to meet the input demand of the controller. By using this strategy, the scale of the FE numerical substructure simulation may be increased significantly. The proposed scheme is initially verified by two FE numerical substructure models with 98 and 1240 degrees of freedom (DOFs). Thereafter, RTDHTs of a single frame-foundation structure are implemented where the foundation, considered as the numerical substructure, is simulated by the FE model with 1240 DOFs. Good agreements between the results of the RTDHT and those from the FE analysis in ABAQUS are obtained.展开更多

The platform was verified previously using several linear physical substructures. The study presented in this paper is focused on further validating the RTHS platform using a nonlinear viscoelastic-plastic damper that has displacement, frequency and temperature-dependent properties. The validation study includes damper component characterization tests, as well as RTHS of a series of single-degree-of-freedom (SDOF) systems equipped with viscoelastic-plastic dampers that represent different structural designs. From the component characterization tests, it was found that for a wide range of excitation frequencies and friction slip loads, the tracking errors are comparable to the errors in RTHS of linear spring systems. The hybrid SDOF results are compared to an independently validated thermal- mechanical viscoelastic model to further validate the ability for the platform to test nonlinear systems. After the validation, as an application study, nonlinear SDOF hybrid tests were used to develop performance spectra to predict the response of structures equipped with damping systems that are more challenging to model analytically. The use of the experimental performance spectra is illustrated by comparing the predicted response to the hybrid test response of 2DOF systems equipped with viscoelastic-plastic dampers.展开更多

The...For homogeneous charge compression ignition (HCCI) combustion, the auto-ignition process is very sensitive to in-cylinder conditions, including in-cylinder temperature, in-cylinder components and concentrations. Therefore, accurate control is required for reliable and efficient HCCI combustion. This paper outlines a simplified gasoline-fueled HCCI engine model implemented in Simulink environment. The model is able to run in real-time and with fixed simulation steps with the aim of cycle-to-cycle control and hardware- in-the-loop simulation. With the aim of controlling the desired amount of the trapped exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) from the previous cycle, the phase of the intake and exhaust valves and the respective profiles are designed to vary in this model. The model is able to anticipate the auto-ignition timing and the in-cylinder pressure and temperature. The validation has been conducted using a comparison of the experimental results on Ricardo Hydro engine published in a research by Tianjin University and a JAGUAR V6 HCCI test engine at the University of Birmingham. The comparison shows the typical HCCI combustion and a fair agreement between the simulation and experimental results.展开更多
Recent developments have demonstrated that the brake pedal simulator(BPS)is becoming an indispensable apparatus for the break-by-wire systems in future electric vehicles.Its main function is to provide the driver with...Recent developments have demonstrated that the brake pedal simulator(BPS)is becoming an indispensable apparatus for the break-by-wire systems in future electric vehicles.Its main function is to provide the driver with a comfortable pedal feel to improve braking safety and comfort.This paper presents the development and control of an adjustable BPS,using a disk-type magnetorheological(MR)damper as the passive braking reaction generator to simulate the traditional pedal feel.A detailed description of the mechanical design of the MR damper-based BSP(MRDBBPS)is presented in this paper.Several basic performance experiments on the MRDBBPS prototype are conducted.A returnto-zero(RTZ)algorithm is proposed to avoid hysteresis and improve the repeatability of the pedal force.In addition,an RTZ algorithm-based real-time current-tracking controller(RTZRC)is designed in consideration of the response lag of the coil circuit.Finally,an experimental system is established by integrating the MRDBBPS prototype into a selfdeveloped automotive MR braking test bench(AMRBTB),and several control and braking experiments are performed.This research proposes a RTZRC control algorithm which can significantly increase the tracking accuracy of the brake pedal characteristic curve,particularly at a high pedal velocity.Additionally,the designed MRDBBPS prototype can achieve an effective and favorable control of the AMRBTB with a good repeatability.展开更多

A set of local decision rules and associated heuristic functions to support the cooperative architecture are specified. A protocol governing the knowledge exchange among local adjacent controllers is developed. A simulation-assignment modeling framework is used for assessing the effectiveness of this cooperative architecture under various levels of controller knowledge and network traffic congestion. The cooperative decentralized system is tested under various scenarios of knowledge and cooperation and network traffic demand levels. Nowadays, real time PV simulators are obtained by using analog and/or digital components. In this paper, a real-time simulation of a PV system with a boost converter was proposed using only the digital signal processor (DSP) processor with two DC voltage sources to emulate the temperature and irradiation in the PV system. A MATLAB/ Simulink environment was used to develop the real-time PV system with a boost converter into a C-program and build it into a DSP controller TMS320F28335. Besides, the performance of the real-time DSP-based PV was tested in different temperature and irradiation conditions to observe the P-V and V-I characteristics. Further, the performance of the PV with a boost converter was tested at different temperatures and irradiations using MPPT algorithms. This scheme was tested through simulation and the results were validated with that of standard conditions given in the PV data sheets. Implementation of this project helped to attract more researchers to study renewable energy applications without real sources. This might facilitate the study of PV systems in a real-time scenario and the evaluation of what should be expected for PV modules available in the market.展开更多

This plat-form consists of a computer installed with software Matlab/Simulink/RTW and dSPACE/ ControlDesk; a diesel engine ECU, and a dSPACE autobox which runs a real-time diesel engine model. A typical model of diesel engine with turbocharger and intercooler is presented. Based on this model our research is carried out with a real ECU to test its software control strategies. Results show that by using the diesel engine model downloaded inside, the hardware-in-the-loop platform can simulate diesel engine's working conditions and generate all kinds of sensor signals which ECU needs on a real-time basis. So the ECU control strategies can be validated and relevant parameters roughly calibrated.展开更多
One of the main challenges for multi-wheel hub motor driven vehicles is the coordination of individual drivetrains to improve mobility and stability in the steering process.This paper proposes a dual-steering mode bas...One of the main challenges for multi-wheel hub motor driven vehicles is the coordination of individual drivetrains to improve mobility and stability in the steering process.This paper proposes a dual-steering mode based on direct yaw moment control for enhancing vehicle steering ability in complex environ ments.The control system is designed as a hierarchical structure,with a yaw moment decision layer and a driving force distribution layer.In the higher-level layer,the objective optimization function is con-structed to obtain the slip steering ratio,which represents the degree of vehicle slip steering in the dual-steering mode.Ayaw moment controller using active disturbance rejection control theory is designed for continuous yaw rate control.When the actual yaw rate of the vehicle deviates from the reference yaw rate obtained by the vehicle reference model and the slip steering ratio,the yaw moment controller isactuated to determine the yaw moment demand for vehicle steering.In the lower-level layer,there is a torque distribution controller based on distribution rules,which meets the requirement of yaw moment demand without affecting the total longitudinal driving force of the vehicle.For verifying the validity and feasibility of the dual-steering mode,simulations were conducted on the hardware-in-loop real-time simulation platfomm.Additionally,corresponding real vehicle tests were carried out on an eight-wheel prototype vehicle.Test results were generally consistent with the simulation results,thereby demon-strating that the proposed dual-steering mode reduces steering radius and enhances the steering per-formance of the vehicle.展开更多
A complete scheme for solving the key scientific problems associated with high-standard,high-intensity continuous construction of high arch dams was presented.First,based on a coupling analysis of construction system ...A complete scheme for solving the key scientific problems associated with high-standard,high-intensity continuous construction of high arch dams was presented.First,based on a coupling analysis of construction system decomposition and coordination for a high arc dam,a mathematical model for real-time control of construction quality and progress that considers complex constraints was developed.Second,a method of progress control was proposed based on a dynamic simulation.Third,a dynamic quality control mechanism was established based on construction information collected using a PDA.Fourth,a system for integrating collected information,progress simulation and quality control analyses under a network environment was developed.Finally,these methods were applied to a practical project to show that each aspect of a construction process can be managed effectively and that real-time monitoring and feedback control can be realized.Our methods provide new theoretical principles and technical measures for quality and progress control in the high arc dam construction process.展开更多

The main objective of this paper is to develop PI and fuzzy controllers to analyze the performance of instantaneous real active and reactive power (p-q) control strategy for extracting reference currents of shunt ac...The main objective of this paper is to develop PI and fuzzy controllers to analyze the performance of instantaneous real active and reactive power (p-q) control strategy for extracting reference currents of shunt active filters (SHAFs) under balanced, unbalanced, and balanced non-sinusoidal conditions. When the supply voltages are balanced and sinusoidal, both controllers converge to the same compensation characteristics. However, if the supply voltages are distorted and/or unbalanced sinusoidal, these controllers result in different degrees of compensation in harmonics. The p-q control strategy with PI controller is unable to yield an adequate solution when source voltages are not ideal. Extensive simulations were carried out with balance, unbalanced, and non-sinusoidal conditions. Simulation results validate the superiority of fuzzy logic controller over PI controller. The three-phase four-wire SHAF system is also implemented on a real-time digital simulator (RTDS hardware) to further verify its effective-ness. A MATLAB/ Simulink environment was used to develop the real-time PV system with a boost converter into a C-program and build it into a DSP controller TMS320F28335. Besides, the performance of the real-time DSP-based PV was tested in different temperature and irradiation conditions to observe the P-V and V-I characteristics. Further, the performance of the PV with a boost converter was tested at different temperatures and irradiations using MPPT algorithms. This scheme was tested through simulation and the results were validated with that of standard conditions given in the PV data sheets. Implementation of this project helped to attract more researchers to study renewable energy applications without real sources. This might facilitate the study of PV systems in a real-time scenario and the evaluation of what should be expected for PV modules available in the market.

文摘A hardware-in-the-loop simulating platform is developed to avoid designing defects caused by the complicated logical structure and multiple-functional buildup of the dectronic control unit(ECU)in modem diesel engines, and to diminish potential damages on components or human exposure to dangers in R&D en- deavor. This plat-form consists of a computer installed with software Matlab/Simulink/RTW and dSPACE/ ControlDesk; a diesel engine ECU, and a dSPACE autobox which runs a real-time diesel engine model. A typical model of diesel engine with turbocharger and intercooler is presented. Based on this model our research is carried out with a real ECU to test its software control strategies. Results show that by using the diesel engine model downloaded inside, the hardware-in-the-loop platform can simulate diesel engine's working conditions and generate all kinds of sensor signals which ECU needs on a real-time basis. So the ECU control strategies can be validated and relevant parameters roughly calibrated.

文摘One of the main challenges for multi-wheel hub motor driven vehicles is the coordination of individual drivetrains to improve mobility and stability in the steering process.This paper proposes a dual-steering mode based on direct yaw moment control for enhancing vehicle steering ability in complex environ ments.The control system is designed as a hierarchical structure,with a yaw moment decision layer and a driving force distribution layer.In the higher-level layer,the objective optimization function is con-structed to obtain the slip steering ratio,which represents the degree of vehicle slip steering in the dual-steering mode.Ayaw moment controller using active disturbance rejection control theory is designed for continuous yaw rate control.When the actual yaw rate of the vehicle deviates from the reference yaw rate obtained by the vehicle reference model and the slip steering ratio,the yaw moment controller isactuated to determine the yaw moment demand for vehicle steering.In the lower-level layer,there is a torque distribution controller based on distribution rules,which meets the requirement of yaw moment demand without affecting the total longitudinal driving force of the vehicle.For verifying the validity and feasibility of the dual-steering mode,simulations were conducted on the hardware-in-loop real-time simulation platfomm.Additionally,corresponding real vehicle tests were carried out on an eight-wheel prototype vehicle.Test results were generally consistent with the simulation results,thereby demon-strating that the proposed dual-steering mode reduces steering radius and enhances the steering per-formance of the vehicle.

文摘A complete scheme for solving the key scientific problems associated with high-standard,high-intensity continuous construction of high arch dams was presented.First,based on a coupling analysis of construction system decomposition and coordination for a high arc dam,a mathematical model for real-time control of construction quality and progress that considers complex constraints was developed.Second,a method of progress control was proposed based on a dynamic simulation.Third,a dynamic quality control mechanism was established based on construction information collected using a PDA.Fourth,a system for integrating collected information,progress simulation and quality control analyses under a network environment was developed.Finally,these methods were applied to a practical project to show that each aspect of a construction process can be managed effectively and that real-time monitoring and feedback control can be realized.Our methods provide new theoretical principles and technical measures for quality and progress control in the high arc dam construction process.
文摘The main objective of this paper is to develop PI and fuzzy controllers to analyze the performance of instantaneous real active and reactive power (p-q) control strategy for extracting reference currents of shunt active filters (SHAFs) under balanced, unbalanced, and balanced non-sinusoidal conditions. When the supply voltages are balanced and sinusoidal, both controllers converge to the same compensation characteristics. However, if the supply voltages are distorted and/or unbalanced sinusoidal, these controllers result in different degrees of compensation in harmonics. The p-q control strategy with PI controller is unable to yield an adequate solution when source voltages are not ideal. Extensive simulations were carried out with balance, unbalanced, and non-sinusoidal conditions. Simulation results validate the superiority of fuzzy logic controller over PI controller. The three-phase four-wire SHAF system is also implemented on a real-time digital simulator (RTDS hardware) to further verify its effective-ness. The detailed simulation and RTDS hardware results are included.
