Comprehensive urbanization level and its dynamic factors for five Central Asian countries 被引量:3

In the context of accelerated development of the Silk Road Economic Belt,it is necessary to conduct in-depth research on urbanization of Central Asian countries.This paper analyzes the spatial and temporal patterns and evolution dynamics of urbanization during the period 1991-2017 from the perspective of internal-external forces.The results are as follows.(1)The urbanization process of the five Central Asian countries studied is significantly influenced by their political and economic situations and displays periodic characteristics.All five countries experienced a stagnation development stage at the beginning of independence,and then a rapid growth stage since the year 2000.The average annual growth rates of the two stages were 0.19% and 1.45%,respectively.(2)Differences in the urbanization of the studied countries are obvious,and the evolutionary characteristics of each subsystem of urbanization are different.It is therefore necessary to distinguish and clearly understand the urbanization process of each country.(3)Internal and external factors play a role in the urbanization processes of Central Asian countries.External railway transportation facilities are particularly important for the development of urbanization in these countries.The regression coefficients of railway construction length,total merchandise trade and actually utilized foreign capital are 0.5665,0.0937 and 0.0806,respectively.(4)Countries with smaller populations and economic scales need to engage in international cooperation to promote healthy development of urbanization.The results of the study indicate that internal and external factors work together in the urbanization process of Central Asian countries,and external forces are particularly important for the development of such urbanization. 展开更多

In response to concerns over the recent expansion of the scope and content of urban design and the potential for“loss of focus”,this study uses the comprehensive urban design of Pudong New Area as a case study,emphasizing a need to“refocus”urban design efforts.It traces the spatial evolution of Pudong New Area under national strategic guidance,addressing two primary issues from a“strategy-problem”perspective.Building on the link between municipal urban design and district-level master planning,the study proposes a key element system that integrates“significance,publicness,cultural relevance,and connectivity”and a control strategy based on unit typology and policy-guided zoning.By establishing a clear and concise district-level control framework focused on“element+scale”,the study aims to enhance Pudong’s modern spatial image and its holistic spatial order,reinforcing Pudong’s role as a“leading area for socialist modernization”. 展开更多

Urban comprehensive carrying capacity analysis in Zhejiang Province of China from the perspective of production,living,and ecological spaces

Urban Comprehensive Carrying Capacity(UCCC)can describe the development of a city and is an important guarantee for its sustainable development.Production-Living-Ecological Space(PLES)is an important guideline for the optimal development of China's land space in the new era.Based on the PLES,we construct a UCCC index system and analyzed the spatial and temporal distribution characteristics of the UCCC of each city in Zhejiang Province from 2006 to 2020.In addition,a coupling coordination degree model and an obstacle degree model are introduced to analyze the coupling coordination degree of the development of PLES of each city and the main constraint indicators,respectively,and a GM(1,1)model is used to predict the UCCC of each city in Zhejiang Province from 2021 to 2025.The study indicates that(1)the UCCC of each city is steadily increasing,with a growth rate of over 30%in 15 years.(2)As of 2020,the highest degree of coupling coordination reaches only 0.508,and it remains a major challenge for cities to improve the coordination degree of land use.(3)Some production space and living space indicators are the main obstacle indicators hindering the development of the UCCC in Zhejiang Province.(4)The forecast results show that the UCCC in each city will still maintain an upwards trend in the following 6 years and will gradually reach a high carrying capacity level. 展开更多

When viewed against the backdrop of globalization and the Belt and Road Initiative(BRI),Central Asia has ushered in new development opportunities.However,problems of ecological environment as a consequence of urbanization have begun to act as a constraint on the economic development of the region,the coupling coordination degree between the urbanization and ecological environment in Kazakhstan was analyzed by the coupling coordination degree model.The main controlling factors affecting its development were explored using a geographical detector.Several main conclusions can be drawn.(1)Kazakhstan's urbanization level,ecological environment level,and the coupling coordination degree between urbanization and ecological environment are all on the rise.(2)In terms of the comprehensive urbanization index,the western and eastern states have higher values than the southern and northern states.The spatial distribution pattern of the ecological environment index revealed high values in the eastern and western regions and low values in the central region.(3)The coupling coordination degree among the states of Kazakhstan is mostly at a low-moderate level.The spatial distribution shows that the coordination level of the east,middle,and west of the country is higher than that of south and north.(4)Indicators such as GDP per capita,social fixed asset investment per capita,employment in industry and services(% of total employment),and the number of college students per 10,000 people are important urbanization factors that affect the coupling coordination degree of urbanization and ecological environment.Indicators of farmland areas per capita,availability of water resources per capita,ecological land per capita and forest coverage in the ecological environment subsystem are important ecological environmental factors that affect the degree of coordination between urbanization and ecological environment in Kazakhstan.The interaction of the main elements in the two subsystems has a strong synergy. 展开更多

The assessment indicator system of urban land comprehensive carrying capacity was constructed from the 4 aspects of resource, economy, society, environment, and principal component analysis and cluster analysis were used to evaluate the urban land comprehensive carrying capacity of Guangxi and the 14 cities in 2005-2014, and analyzed its spatial and temporal characteristics as well as the driving forces, with the aim to provide references for improving the urban land comprehensive carrying capacity. The results showed that, the overall urban land comprehensive carrying capacity in Guangxi increased in 2005-2014, and there were significant differences in the land comprehensive carrying capacities among the cities in Guangxi in 2005-2014, in which Liuzhou, Guilin, Nanning belonged to the regions with the highest carrying capacity, while Beihai, Yulin, Wutong belonged to the regions with high carrying capacity, and the carrying capacities of the other cities changed with the changes of time. The economic development degree was an important factor influencing urban land comprehensive carrying capacity, but could not directly represent the urban land comprehensive carrying capacity level. 展开更多

Spheres of Urban Influence and Factors in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Metropolitan Region Based on Viewpoint of Administrative Division Adjustment 被引量:3

The coordinated development of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei has been elevated as China's important strategy. And, the priority in considering how to bring the maximum effect of their coordinated development into play is to delineate the spheres of urban influence with regard to the cities in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Metropolitan Region. By building an evaluation index system of urban comprehensive strength, this paper applies the principal component analysis method to determine centrality strength of the cities, and the breakpoint theory and weighted Voronoi diagram to identify the spheres of urban influence in all central cities of the region. Results show that 13 central cities within the region greatly differ in strength, which can be classified into four tiers and that the spheres of urban influence do not have a high goodness of fit with administrative jurisdiction scope. Cities like Beijing, Tianjin, Shijiazhuang and Handan have larger spheres of urban, spheres of urban influence in Tangshan and Qinhuangdao are basically consistent with their administrative jurisdiction scopes, and seven cities including Langfang and Baoding have smaller spheres of urban influence. So according to these cities' comprehensive strength and spheres of influence, the region can be divided into five plates: Beijing, Tianjin, Shijiazhuang, Tangshan and Handan. The major influence factors for inconsistency between spheres of urban influence and spheres of jurisdiction include difference in urban administrative ranking, small number of central cities with weak strength, discrepancy in the number of counties under jurisdiction, unreasonable spheres of jurisdiction and diversity in topographical conditions. In order to solve the imbalance in the spheres of urban influence and those of jurisdiction and better facilitate the coordinated development of the region, it is advised to adjust administrative areas so as to obtain more optimized urban spatial layout and more reasonable urban scale hierarchy system. 展开更多

Based on relevant urban planning and design standards and a study on successful cases of comprehensive urban design in China, this paper explores a methodology of comprehensive urban design in large scale projects by applying classical urban design theories and advanced digital technologies. This enables a combination of artful design and scientifi c analysis through the establishment of an urban design indicator system, the application of digital technologies and a multi-leveled control over design contents. The chosen case of the Daqing Comprehensive Urban Design shows that the proposed measures can effectively promote the supervision of comprehensive urban design on both urban morphology and landscape, rapidly convert the urban design outcomes into management rules, and ultimately facilitate the application of the urban design outcomes. 展开更多
