The study is carried out to investigate the dependence of the interface damage and the composite tensile strength on the micro parameters of the composite. These parameters contain fiber packing pattern, fiber volume fraction, and the modulus ratio of the fiber to the matrix. The investigation reveals that though the high fiber vo lume fraction, the high fiber′s modulus and the square fiber packing can supply strong reinforcement to the composite, the interface damage is susceptible in these cases. The tensile strength of the composite is dominated by the interface strength when the interface debonding occurs.展开更多

Their microstructural evolution and thermal conductivity were presented as a function of sintering parameters (temperature, pressure, and time). The improvement in interfacial bonding strength and the maximum thermM conductivity of 750 W/(m.K) were achieved at the optimal sintering parameters of 1200℃, 6 GPa and 10 min. It is found that the thermal conductivity of the composites depends strongly on sintering pressure. When the sintering pressure is above 6 GPa, the diamond skeleton is detected, which greatly contributes to the excellent thermal conductivity.展开更多

The experimental parameters are lateral confining pressure and PVA fiber content by volume. The test results indicate that ultimate strength and peak strain are significantly improved with the increases of confining pressure. The confining effect introduced by the fibers becomes minor in triaxial compression tests, where there is relatively high external confining pressure. The axial stress-strain curves with different confining pressure and different PVA fiber content by volume are obtained. Lateral confining pressure constraints the lateral expansion of HPFRCC,so there is a big plastic deformation with its ultimate strength improved. At lower confining pressure,PVA fiber content by volume has some effect on the decreased section of stress-strain curve. According to test results, the paper establishes formula of confining pressure with ultimate strength and axial peak strain respectively.展开更多

A1/B4C composite strips were produced in this work by a modified accumulative roll bonding process where the strips were rotated 90° around the normal direction between successive passes. Transmission electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction analyses reveal the development of nanostructures in the Al matrix after seven passes. It is found that the B4C reinforcement distribution in the matrix is improved by progression of the process. Additionally, the tensile yield strength and elongation of the processed materials are increased with the increase of passes.展开更多

文摘To assess the high-temperature creep properties of titanium matrix composites for aircraft skin, the TA15 alloy,TiB/TA15 and TiB/(TA15−Si)composites with network structure were fabricated using low-energy milling and vacuum hot pressing sintering techniques. The results show that introducing TiB and Si can reduce the steady-state creep rate by an order of magnitude at 600℃ compared to the alloy. However, the beneficial effect of Si can be maintained at 700℃ while the positive effect of TiB gradually diminishes due to the pores near TiB and interface debonding. The creep deformation mechanism of the as-sintered TiB/(TA15−Si)composite is primarily governed by dislocation climbing. The high creep resistance at 600℃ can be mainly attributed to the absence of grain boundaryαphases, load transfer by TiB whisker, and the hindrance of dislocation movement by silicides. The low steady-state creep rate at 700℃ is mainly resulted from the elimination of grain boundaryαphases as well as increased dynamic precipitation of silicides andα_(2).

文摘In this work,Ti_(p)/Mg-7Gd-2Y-3Zn(Ti_(p)/GWZ723)composites with various Ti_(p) sizes(~10μm,~20μm and~35μm)were fabricated using semi-solid stirring casting method, the composites were subjected to hot extrusion, and the infuence of Ti_(p) size on long-period stacking ordered(LPSO)phase, dynamic recrystallization(DRX),mechanical properties, and work hardening behavior of the Ti_(p)/GWZ723 composites was investigated. The results indicate that with the increase in Ti_(p) size, the grain size of the as-cast Ti_(p)/GWZ723 composites increases, and the lamellar 14H LPSO phase precipitates within the matrix after homogenization treatment. With the increase in Ti_(p) size, the reduction in the Ti_(p) surface area leads to a decrease in surface energy.Consequently, the enrichment of RE element is reduced, which facilitates the formation of the 14H LPSO phase. Moreover, the layer spacing of the 14H LPSO phase decreases.Particle deformation zone(PDZ)is formed around the Ti_(p) after extrusion, promoting the nucleation of DRX.The PDZ size increases with the increase in the Ti_(p) size.Nevertheless, the elongation of the Ti_(p) releases stress and reduces the PDZ size.Simultaneously, the 14H LPSO phase with a small interlayer spacing inhibits the non-basal slip, and the volume fraction of DRX(VDRX)decreases with the increase in the Ti_(p) size. With the increase in Ti_(p) size, the refned grain size and the 14H LPSO phase with smaller interlayer spacing contribute to enhancing the work hardening rate and dynamic recovery rate of the Ti_(p)/GWZ723 composites. The Ti_(p)/Mg laminar-like interface formed in the Ti_(p)/GWZ723 composites can alleviate local stress concentration and inhibit the initiation and propagation of cracks.
文摘This study focuses on treating Guadua angustifolia bamboo fibers to enhance their properties for reinforcement applications in composite materials.Chemical(alkali)and physical(dry etching plasma)treatments were used separately to augment compatibility of Guadua angustifolia fibers with various composite matrices. The influence of these treatments on the fibers’performance, chemical composition, and surface morphology were analyzed.Statistical analysis indicated that alkali treatments reduced the tensile modulus of elasticity and strength of fibers by up to 40%and 20%,respectively,whereas plasma treatments maintain the fibers’mechanical performance.FTIR spectroscopy revealed significant alterations in chemical composition due to alkali treatments, while plasma-treated fibers showed minimal changes.Surface examination through Scanning Electron Microscopy(SEM)revealed post-treatment modifications in both cases;alkali treatments served as a cleanser, eliminating lignin and hemicellulose from the fiber surface, whereas plasma treatments also produce rough surfaces. These results validate the impact of the treatments on the fiber mechanical performance, which opens up possibilities for using Guadua angustifolia fibers as an alternative reinforcement in composite manufacturing.

文摘Fibre reinforced polymer composites have become a new generation of structural materials due to their unique advantages such as high specific strength, designability, good dimensional stability and ease of large-area monolithic forming. However, the problem of interfacial bonding between the resin matrix and the fibres limits the direct use of reinforcing fibres and has become a central difficulty in the development of basalt fibre-epoxy composites. This paper proposes a solution for enhancing the strength of the fibre-resin interface using maize starch nanocrystals, which are highly yield and eco-friendly.Firstly,in this paper, corn starch nanocrystals(SNC)were prepared by hydrolysis, and were deposited on the surface of basalt fibers by electrostatic adsorption. After that,in order to maximize the modification effect of nano-starch crystals on the interface, the basalt fiber-epoxy resin composite samples were prepared by mixing in a pressureless molding method. The test results shown that the addition of basalt fibers alone led to a reduction in the strength of the sample.Deposition of 0.1 wt%SNC on the surface of basalt fibers can make the strength consistent with pure epoxy resin. When the adsorption amount of SNC reached 0.5 wt%,the tensile strength of the samples was 23.7%higher than that of pure epoxy resin. This is due to the formation of ether bond homopolymers between the SNC at the fibre-epoxy interface and the epoxy resin, which distorts the originally smooth interface, leading to increased stress concentration and the development of cracks. This enhances the binding of basalt fibers. The conclusions of this paper can provide an effective,simple,low-cost and non-polluting method of interfacial enhancement modification.
文摘The characterization of reinforcement in 15% SiC particles reinforced AI matrix composites processed by powder metallurgy route was studied by statistical method. During the analysis, a new approach for the estimation of the characterization of reinforcement was presented. The mathematic software MATLAB was used to calculate the area and perimeter of reinforcement, in which the image processing technique was applied. Based on the calculation, the fractal dimension, shape factor, reinforcement size distribution and reinforcement distribution were investigated. The results show that the reinforcement shape is similar to rectangle; the reinforcement size distribution is broad with the' range of 1-12 μm; the topography of reinforcement is smooth; and the reinforcement distribution is inhomogeneous. Furthermore, the cell model based on the statistical characterization was established and tested.
文摘A cohesive zone model is employed to simulate the fiber/matrix interface damage of composites with ductile matrix. The tensile strength of the composite is dominated by the interface strength when the interface debonding occurs.

文摘The penetration resistance of Kevlar-129 fiber reinforced composite materials was investigated with AUTODYN software. The ballistic limits of the fragment that pierced 6kinds of target plates were obtained by finite element simulation when the 10 g fragment simulation projectile(FSP)impacting to the target plates of different thickness values of 8,10,12,14,16 and 18mm with appropriate velocity, respectively, and the influences of thickness on the ballistic limits and the specific energy absorption were analyzed. The results show that the ballistic limit of Kevlar-129 fiber reinforced composite plates presents linear growth with the increase of the target thickness in the range from 8to 18 mm.The specific energy absorption of plates presents approximately linear growth, but there is slightly slow growth in the range from 10 to 16mm of the target thickness. It also can be found that the influences of plate thickness and surface density on the varying pattern of specific energy absorption are almost the same. Therefore, both of them can be used to characterize the variation of specific energy absorption under the impact of the FSP fragment.

文摘Pure Cu composites reinforced with diamond particles were fabricated by a high pressure and high temperature (HPHT) infiltration technique. When the sintering pressure is above 6 GPa, the diamond skeleton is detected, which greatly contributes to the excellent thermal conductivity.

文摘Based on an extensive experimental program, the paper studies the behavior of HPFRCC under triaxial compression. According to test results, the paper establishes formula of confining pressure with ultimate strength and axial peak strain respectively.
文摘Particulate reinforced metallic matrix composites have attracted considerable attention due to their lightweight, high strength, high specific modulus, and good wear resistance. Additionally, the tensile yield strength and elongation of the processed materials are increased with the increase of passes.

文摘This article presents an experimental study on the flexural performance of reinforced concrete(RC)beams with fiber reinforced cementitious composites(FRCC)and hybrid fiber reinforced cementitious composites(HFRCC)in the hinge portion.Beam specimens with moderate confinement were used in the study and tested under monotonic loading.Seven diverse types of FRCC including hybrid composites using fibers in different profiles and in different volumes are employed in this study.Companion specimens such as cylindrical specimens and prism specimens are also used to study the physical properties of composites employed. The moment?curvature, stiffness behavior, ductility, crack pattern and modified flexural damage ratio are the main factors considered in this study to observe the efficacy of the employed hybrid composites. The experimental outputs demonstrate the improved post yield behavior with less rate of stiffness degradation and better damage tolerance capacity than conventional technique.
