Preforming process would change yarn angle and yarn orientation,its influence on the material properties and material orientations needs to be considered in the performance analysis.However,most current performance models fail to account for the preforming effect.An integrated performance model accounting for the impact of preforming has been developed.In this integrated model,part geometry,yarn angle and orientation after preforming of multiple prepreg layers are predicted by Finite Element Analysis(FEA)using a non-orthogonal constitutive law.Experiments were conducted to validate the preforming simulation for a single dome composites structure made by two prepreg layers with different initial fiber orientations.Performance analysis until failure was then conducted for the single dome structure to validate the integrated performance model.Comparison between simulation and experiment shows that not only the failure mode and failure zone,but also the force-displacement curve during compression process are captured correctly by the performance model,demonstrating the effectiveness of the newly proposed model in accounting for the impact of preforming process. 展开更多

A comprehensive study of yarn architecture of two-step rectangle 3D braided composites is presented. Firstly, the braided surface, the shapes of yarns and the intertwining between braider yams and axial yams are analyzed from experimentation. With the microstructure being defined, three levels of unit cell structure are identified, i.e. large unit cell, second unit cell and minimal unit cell. Secondly, based on the minimal unit cell in the interior and on the boundary of the entire cross-section, the deformations of axial yams squashed by braider yams contribute to the increase of the fiber packing factors of axial yams. Finally, the predicted fiber volume fraction of the composites decreases with the increase of linear density of the braider yam and the pitch length. Favorable correlations between the predicted and the experimental results arc found for six groups of the composites. 展开更多

The increasing demand for sustainable and environmentally friendly materials has driven research towards the development of green composites.In this work,the flax/polylactic acid(PLA)braided yarns were fabricated by braiding PLA filaments with 4 to 24 spindles on flax yarns.After curing at different temperatures(180℃and 190℃),the core/sheath structural flax/PLA composite yarns were manufactured.According to the results of the tensile test,the flax/PLA composite yarn with 4-spindle PLA yarns as a sheath layer and at a curing temperature of 180℃reached the maximum elastic modulus of about(5.79±0.65)GPa and the maximum tensile strength of about(162.17±18.18)MPa.This flax/PLA composite yarn with good mechanical properties would be suitable for green composites in the automobile manufacturing industry and building materials. 展开更多

The mechanical and strain sensing properties of carbon nanotube composite yarns (CNTs/PDMS) with different weight percent of PDMS were studied. The CNT/PDMS composite yarn was prepared by infiltration method. Pictures of diameter of CNT composite yarns were obtained though polarized light microscope. Resistance change values of CNT composites under stretching were obtained though the single fiber strength tester and digital multimeter and related mechanical, electrical software. The changes of mechanical properties. electrical properties and sensing pertbrmance of pure and composite CNT yarns were discussed and analyzed. The results showed that the strength of CNT yarn declined after it was composited with PDMS polymer. In addition, the conductivity and sensing performance of CNT yarns improved significantly. The most suitable CNT composite yam occurs at PDMS mass fraction of 1% when strength and sensing properties were all considered. 展开更多

Single-grit grinding of a 2.5D woven composite was investigated by the finite-element method (FEM) using a unit-cell model. According to our hypotheses, the axis of the warp yarn was a sinusoidal curve and the cross section of the weft yarn was shaped like a biconvex lens. AVUMAT subroutine was used to construct the constitutive model of the 2.5D woven composite. The grinding process of the composite was analyzed using an FEM simulation with the ABAQUS/Explicit software. A validation experiment was also carried out. The simulation results showed that a grinding crack was well simulated. Furthermore, the junctions between the warp yarn and weft yarn were found to be seriously damaged and cracks were observed to extend outward along the warp fiber during grinding, in good agreement with the experimental results. In addition, the strain of weft yarns was obviously greater than that of warp yarns when the grinding direction was perpendicular to the weft yarns and parallel to the axis of the warp yarns. Effect of Maleic-Anhydride Grafting on the Properties of Flax Reinforced Polypropylene Textile Composites

The use of maleic anhydride (MA) coupling agent in polypropylene (PP) matrix system is promising technique to enhance the fibre-matrix interface in composite applications. However, most of the previous studies are focused on either treatment of the natural fibres or the PP matrix with this coupling agent, which are not commercially viable. In this work, a cost-effective technique “hybrid yarns” was used to manufacture commingled reinforcing flax fibres and MA-grafted PP matrix fibres. Two types of twist-less flax/PP and flax/MAPP hybrid yarns were produced containing 40% flax and 60% matrix fibres by volume. Both PP and MAPP fibres were thermally and rheologically characterised using DSC, MFI, TGA, DTA and capillary rheometer. It is found that the composites manufactured from flax/MAPP blends exhibited 15% higher strength and 25% higher modulus compared to those made of flax/PP. This was due to the improved flax/matrix interface, the higher melt flow rate and lower share viscosity behaviour of the MAPP matrix fibres compared to the standard PP fibres used. 展开更多

以玻纤双轴向经编复合材料为研究对象,探讨经编捆绑纱对其力学性能的影响。由于捆绑纱是连接经纬增强纱的关键单元,对复合材料性能存在重要影响。通过制备含低弹涤纶捆绑纱的双轴向经编复合材料及去除捆绑纱的类双轴向复合材料,采用真... 以玻纤双轴向经编复合材料为研究对象,探讨经编捆绑纱对其力学性能的影响。由于捆绑纱是连接经纬增强纱的关键单元,对复合材料性能存在重要影响。通过制备含低弹涤纶捆绑纱的双轴向经编复合材料及去除捆绑纱的类双轴向复合材料,采用真空导流成形工艺制作试样,测试其拉伸、压缩、三点弯曲及低速冲击性能,并结合微观形貌分析作用机制。结果表明:含捆绑纱的复合材料拉伸强度提高21.67%,压缩强度提高17.50%,弯曲强度和模量分别提升10.01%和6.54%,低速冲击能量吸收率提高9.92%。捆绑纱通过增强层间结合、协调纱线受力、抑制纤维屈曲与分层扩展等作用,优化了复合材料的载荷分配与能量耗散能力,显著改善其综合力学性能。 展开更多

为获得具有拉伸-压力-非接触感知功能的全针织结构多模态柔性电容传感器,以镀银聚酰胺6为芯纱,利用涤纶与聚氨酯进行双重包覆,得到了聚氨酯-涤纶/镀银聚酰胺6复合导电纱线,并将其织制成纬平针组织的全针织结构柔性电容传感器。测试了复... 为获得具有拉伸-压力-非接触感知功能的全针织结构多模态柔性电容传感器,以镀银聚酰胺6为芯纱,利用涤纶与聚氨酯进行双重包覆,得到了聚氨酯-涤纶/镀银聚酰胺6复合导电纱线,并将其织制成纬平针组织的全针织结构柔性电容传感器。测试了复合导电纱线的相关性能,分析了传感器的拉伸、压力及非接触感知传感性能。结果表明:相较于芯纱,复合导电纱线的断裂强力与断裂伸长率分别提升了216.9%与9.33%,但导电能力有所下降;传感器具有良好的多模态传感能力,在拉伸传感中,灵敏系数最高可达0.3243,在8.8 mm/s的拉伸速度下,拉伸1000 s,电容波动较小,重复性较好;在压力传感中,可识别物体质量,且在同种压力作用下电容变化稳定;在非接触传感中,具有多方向敏感性,且可识别物体尺寸、靠近速度和距离。该传感器可用于监测人体呼吸体征及关节弯曲角度。 展开更多

针对传统环锭纺涤纶/棉复合纱线存在的毛羽突出、结构松散等问题,研究设计了一种静电分丝装置,并基于该装置开发了一种具有包芯包缠结构的涤纶/棉复合纱线。通过调控静电分丝器电压(5 kV、10 kV、15 kV)探究其对分丝效果及成纱性能的影... 针对传统环锭纺涤纶/棉复合纱线存在的毛羽突出、结构松散等问题,研究设计了一种静电分丝装置,并基于该装置开发了一种具有包芯包缠结构的涤纶/棉复合纱线。通过调控静电分丝器电压(5 kV、10 kV、15 kV)探究其对分丝效果及成纱性能的影响,确定最佳分丝电压为15 kV。在此基础上,进一步改变涤纶长丝的分组数(2组、4组、6组、8组),系统研究长丝分布形态对复合纱线形貌、毛羽、条干及拉伸性能的影响规律。结果表明,经静电分丝处理后,涤纶长丝分散均匀性显著提升,可有效包覆棉纤维,减少表面毛羽;当电压为15 kV、涤纶分组数为6组时,复合纱线综合性能最优,其断裂强度较常规复合纱提升20.1%,≥3 mm有害毛羽显著减少,条干均匀度明显改善。 展开更多

为使纱线及其面料具有轻量蓬松、外柔内刚的超柔效果,通过短纤须条包覆短纤纱的复合纺纱方法结合倍捻工序的创新应用,采用两步法制备了一种超柔纱。芯纱采用Z捻JC 14.8 tex集聚纱,外包纤维采用棉精梳须条,纺制外包纤维为S捻的29.6 tex... 为使纱线及其面料具有轻量蓬松、外柔内刚的超柔效果,通过短纤须条包覆短纤纱的复合纺纱方法结合倍捻工序的创新应用,采用两步法制备了一种超柔纱。芯纱采用Z捻JC 14.8 tex集聚纱,外包纤维采用棉精梳须条,纺制外包纤维为S捻的29.6 tex复合纱,再经倍捻工序Z向加捻制得超柔纱。对同配棉、同号数超柔纱、常规环锭纱的成纱质量,两种纱线纺制的针织物的压缩性能、硬挺度、悬垂性能、尺寸稳定性和弯曲性能进行了测试对比。结果表明:内外层捻向相异的超柔纱随外包纤维捻度减小,纤维间抱合力降低,纱线蓬松柔软,从而使织物具有更好的蓬松性和柔软性;内层纤维捻度增大,纤维间排列更加紧密,纱线弹性恢复能力增强,使织物具有一定的身骨和尺寸稳定性。认为:通过两步法制备的超柔纱及其织物具备外柔内刚效果,为开发柔软而又不失身骨产品提供了一种可行的技术方案。 展开更多

Stitched composite materials are emerging as a promising material due to their high interlaminar strength,combined performance and light weight.The mechanical properties of stitch yarns are very essential for stitched composite structures.In this study,the tensile behaviors of the twisted fiber yarn in stitched composites were investigated experimentally,analytically and numerically.Two kinds of cross-sectional area of twisted yarn are proposed and discussed.The paper presents an intersecting circle model to describe the cross-section of twisted fiber yarns,and a physics-based theoretical model to predict the effective tensile moduli.The numerical models take into account the cross-sectional characteristic and the twist architecture.The investigation shows that:the sum of each fiber area should be used for experimental analysis;and the crosssectional area surrounded by the yarn profile should be used for theoretical predictions and finite element(FE)simulations.The relative errors of the prediction method and the FE simulation are less than 2%and 1%,respectively.The friction between the fibers is derived,and the effect of friction on mechanical properties is discussed.The investigation method will serve as a fundamental component of twisted fiber bundle/yarn analysis. 展开更多

Consolidation processes of unidirectional laminate were performed to evaluate the validity of the model. Friction spun core yarns were used in the experiments with polypropylene fiber sheath and glass filament core. The processing conditions, such as temperature and pressure, and filament parameters were taken into consideration. A good agreement was found between theoretical prediction and experiment data. 展开更多

To accurately evaluate and predict the covered effect of cowrapped yarn,a novel characterization is performed by covered ratio and fineness. Polyimide / metal wire co-wrapped yarn which was designed for applications in aerospace and composites was developed through hollow spindle spinning process. Core yarn speed,hollow spindle rotating speed,and wrapping yarn twist were selected as three main factors that affected spinning process. An empirical model indicating relationship between spinning parameters and covered effect was established based on response surface methodology( RSM). The results show that wrapping yarn twist contributes greatly to smooth wrapping process. Core yarn speed and spindle rotating speed are significant impact factors of covered effect and they interact significantly in covered ratio, but indistinctively in fineness. 展开更多

目前第2代六角形编织机的编织工艺尚无明确的编写规则或方法,为解决上述问题,提出了面向管状织物结构设计的六角形编织工艺方法。首先,通过分析携纱器在角轮上的位置变换原理,提出了等效角轮理论。然后,结合六角形编织机结构及其运动特... 目前第2代六角形编织机的编织工艺尚无明确的编写规则或方法,为解决上述问题,提出了面向管状织物结构设计的六角形编织工艺方法。首先,通过分析携纱器在角轮上的位置变换原理,提出了等效角轮理论。然后,结合六角形编织机结构及其运动特点,提出了编织机的等效角轮单元,介绍了在六角轮的底盘上构建六角形编织机等效角轮系统时,编织机所包含的底盘单元结构。其次,结合管状织物的结构参数和等效角轮的结构特点,建立携纱器排布方式与织物结构之间的内在联系,阐述管状织物的成形原理。再次,通过分析织物成形过程,定义了底盘工艺单元,然后基于管状织物的成形原理提出了等效角轮单元的选取原则,从而构建六角形编织机等效角轮系统的底盘结构,确定携纱器的排布方式,接着阐述了携纱器的运动准则,得到可循环执行的工艺步骤。最后,开展了具体的管状织物编织实例设计并进行相关实物编织实验。实验结果验证了编织工艺方法的正确性,该成果将有利于第2代六角形编织机管状编织工艺的快速开发。 展开更多

为提升无人机板簧纺织复合材料的力学性能,降低板簧质量,研究采用T800碳纤维替代传统的金属材料并通过树脂传递模塑工艺以层间交联的方式将碳纤维与树脂结合起来,进而制备出1/3衬经2.5D、普通衬经2.5D和1/3斜纹2.5D等3种不同结构的板簧... 为提升无人机板簧纺织复合材料的力学性能,降低板簧质量,研究采用T800碳纤维替代传统的金属材料并通过树脂传递模塑工艺以层间交联的方式将碳纤维与树脂结合起来,进而制备出1/3衬经2.5D、普通衬经2.5D和1/3斜纹2.5D等3种不同结构的板簧纺织复合材料。为验证以上3种材料的力学性能,从拉伸性能、压缩性能和弯曲性能3个方面对材料进行测试。根据试验结果可知,板簧纺织复合材料的内部结构与材料力学性能密切相关,其中结接纱和衬经纱可以承受较大的压缩应力和拉伸应力,将结接纱与衬经纱结合起来能够显著提升板簧纺织复合材料的力学性能。 展开更多

为解决复合纱捻度高、残余扭矩大、扭结较多的问题,采用羊毛纤维、锦纶长丝为原料,结合自捻纺纱与低扭矩纺纱技术,制备了嵌入式同相自捻纱和异相自捻纱,对同相自捻纱进行受力分析,探究了嵌入长丝的角度/间距对复合自捻纱自捻扭矩的影响... 为解决复合纱捻度高、残余扭矩大、扭结较多的问题,采用羊毛纤维、锦纶长丝为原料,结合自捻纺纱与低扭矩纺纱技术,制备了嵌入式同相自捻纱和异相自捻纱,对同相自捻纱进行受力分析,探究了嵌入长丝的角度/间距对复合自捻纱自捻扭矩的影响,分析了长丝与粗纱在不同间距下对2种自捻纱成纱性能的影响。结果表明:嵌入式异相自捻纱性能普遍优于同相自捻纱;随着长丝与粗纱间距增大,长丝包缠角度变大,对短纤维的束缚作用增强,提高了纤维强度利用率和成纱均匀度;当长丝与粗纱间距过大时,长丝对短纤维内外转移的调控作用减弱,纤维间抱合力减小,条干均匀度恶化;在2 mm间距时嵌入式自捻纱综合性能更优,异相自捻纱与同相自捻纱的断裂强度分别为9.79和6.63 cN/tex,条干CV值分别为19.16%和20.93%,3 mm毛羽数量分别为119根/(10 m)和102根/(10 m);嵌入式自捻纱充分利用长丝连续性和受力均匀性平衡退捻力矩,有效降低了复合纱线的残余扭矩(≤1个扭结/(25 cm))。 展开更多
