Informed consent competency assessment for brain-computer interface clinical research and application in psychiatric disorders:A systematic review

BACKGROUND Brain-computer interface(BCI)technology is rapidly advancing in psychiatry.Informed consent competency(ICC)assessment among psychiatric patients is a pivotal concern in clinical research.AIM To analyze the assessment of ICC and form a framework with multi-dimensional elements involved in ICC of BCI clinical research among psychiatric disorders.METHODS A systematic review of studies regarding ICC assessments of BCI clinical research in patients with six kinds of psychiatric disorders was conducted.A systematic literature search was performed using PubMed,ScienceDirect,and Web of Science.Peer-reviewed articles and full-text studies were included in the analysis.There were no date restrictions,and all studies published up to February 27,2025,were included.RESULTS A total of 103 studies were selected for this review.Fifty-eight studies included ICC factors,and forty-five were classified in ICC related ethical issues of BCI research in six kinds of psychiatric disorders.Executive function impairment is widely recognized as the most significant factor impacting ICC,and processing speed deficits are observed in schizophrenia,mood disorders,and Alzheimer’s disease.Memory dysfunction,particularly episodic and working memory,contributes to compromised ICC.Five core ethical issues in BCI research should be addressed:BCI specificity,vulnerability,autonomy,dynamic ICC,comprehensiveness,and uncertainty.CONCLUSION A Five-Dimensional evaluative framework,including clinical,ethical,sociocultural,legal,and procedural dimensions,is constructed and proposed for future ICC research in BCI clinical research involving psychiatric disorders. 展开更多

The aim of this study is to discipline construction in our hospital.The Delphi method was used to construct the constituent elements and specific connotations of the core competence of HCPs,and the analytic hierarchy process(AHP)was used to determine the index weight.A total of 19 experts were included,all with intermediate or higher professional titles.The positive coefficients of experts in the two rounds of consultation were all 100%.The judgment basis of experts is 0.895,the degree of familiarity is 0.842,and the coefficient of authority is 0.868.The Kendall harmony coefficients of the first,second,and third-level indicators were 0.381,0.383,and 0.320,respectively.The expert coordination degree was tested by x^(2) test,the P values were all less than 0.05,indicating that the degree of expert coordination was well.After two rounds of letter inquiry,an evaluation index system of core competence of HCPs with professional accomplishment,theoretical knowledge,basic skills,professional skills,and professional development ability as the main framework was formed,including 5 first-level indicators,18 second-level indicators,and 62 third-level indicators.Based on the Delphi and AHP methods,the index system of HCPs'core competence established has high authority and scientificity,to provide the theoretical basis for the standardized training and comprehensive evaluation of HCPs. 展开更多

Remarkable progress has been made in infection prevention and control(IPC)in many countries,but some gaps emerged in the context of the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic.Core capabilities such as standard clinical precautions and tracing the source of infection were the focus of IPC in medical institutions during the pandemic.Therefore,the core competences of IPC professionals during the pandemic,and how these contributed to successful prevention and control of the epidemic,should be studied.To investigate,using a systematic review and cluster analysis,fundamental improvements in the competences of infection control and prevention professionals that may be emphasized in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.We searched the PubMed,Embase,Cochrane Library,Web of Science,CNKI,WanFang Data,and CBM databases for original articles exploring core competencies of IPC professionals during the COVID-19 pandemic(from January 1,2020 to February 7,2023).Weiciyun software was used for data extraction and the Donohue formula was followed to distinguish high-frequency technical terms.Cluster analysis was performed using the within-group linkage method and squared Euclidean distance as the metric to determine the priority competencies for development.We identified 46 studies with 29 high-frequency technical terms.The most common term was“infection prevention and control training”(184 times,17.3%),followed by“hand hygiene”(172 times,16.2%).“Infection prevention and control in clinical practice”was the most-reported core competency(367 times,34.5%),followed by“microbiology and surveillance”(292 times,27.5%).Cluster analysis showed two key areas of competence:Category 1(program management and leadership,patient safety and occupational health,education and microbiology and surveillance)and Category 2(IPC in clinical practice).During the COVID-19 pandemic,IPC program management and leadership,microbiology and surveillance,education,patient safety,and occupational health were the most important focus of development and should be given due consideration by IPC professionals. 展开更多

The research techniques were document analysis, interviews, participant observation, work process analysis, and focus groups. This paper presents a brief overview of the information competency of an interpreter. The importance of the information competency in the structure of professional competency of an interpreter is acknowledged by the majority of modern experts. But there still exists the problem of determining the set of skills which present the information competency of an interpreter. Clinical Competency: Simulation Compared with Lectures in Training Registered General Nursing (RGN) at Time of Completion of Program—A Systematic Review

<strong>Background:</strong> Advancing the science of nursing education through technology into teaching and learning is essential to prepare nurses for the changing healthcare environment. <strong>O... <strong>Background:</strong> Advancing the science of nursing education through technology into teaching and learning is essential to prepare nurses for the changing healthcare environment. <strong>Objective:</strong> To synthesise evidence in nursing students’ competency in the clinical setting immediately after completion of training with simulation compared with lectures. <strong>Methods:</strong> Databases were sourced electronically from CINAHL and PubMed using keywords Simulation, lecture, clinical competency and new graduates. Study Eligibility Criteria, Participants and Interventions: Published articles addressing the research objectives, written in English, spaning between September 2010 and March 2019 directly answer the PSCOT question with results applicable to the population specific-nursing students, simulation was utilized. Study Appraisal and Synthesis Methods: Extracted data from sorted studies were analysed and assessed for quality using the John Hopkins Evidence-Based Appraisal Tools. <strong>Results:</strong> The two-database yielded 520 articles, 10 met the eligibility criteria. Findings documented three important themes: 1) Clinical competence among nurses;2) Medical residents’ clinical competence and 3) Was about the competence of anaesthesiology residents. <strong>Limitations: </strong>The identified studies used small sample sizes ranging from 20 to 98 participants in the single research studies.<strong> Conclusions: </strong>The review of the literature found that the active teaching strategy of simulation was more effective in promoting clinical competency in nursing students compared with the lecture method. The evidence-based teaching project proposes the use of simulation as the primary teaching method to improve the clinical competency abilities of registered general nursing (RGN) diploma students. 展开更多

Background:This study uses a literature review and the Delphi expert consultation method to construct a competency evaluation model for infection control personnel in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)hospitals.The aim is to strengthen infection control management in TCM hospitals,assess the competency of infection control personnel in their positions,and assist them in identifying the competencies that need improvement.Methods:Based on the literature research method and the Delphi expert consultation method,a competency model for the position was constructed through two rounds of expert consultations,analyzing the relationships between various factors and establishing a hierarchical structure model.Pairwise comparisons were made among the elements at the same level to construct a judgment matrix.Through the analytic hierarchy process,the weight coefficients of the indicators at each level in the competency model were obtained.Results:This study conducted a comprehensive assessment of various capabilities and practices related to hospital infection control.The survey results indicate that participants excelled in multiple areas,with a high overall satisfaction rate.95.28%of participants were able to develop hospital infection monitoring plans based on national infection control policies,demonstrating a good understanding and execution of these policies.94.09%of participants were familiar with high-risk populations and key departments in the hospital.91.73%of participants were able to establish monitoring scopes based on the trends of multidrug-resistant bacteria and conduct information monitoring,reflecting strong response capabilities.92.91%of participants were able to collaborate with relevant departments to conduct bacterial resistance monitoring,showing a good team spirit.94.49%of participants were able to perform targeted monitoring,including surgical site infections,indicating that they have effective monitoring strategies.91.34%of participants were able to collect and organize monitoring data and establish a systematic database,demonstrating good data management skills.90.16%of participants were able to interpret laws and regulations related to hospital infection management,indicating a high level of legal knowledge.89.37%of participants generally possessed good communication skills.92.52%of participants were able to guide medical staff on occupational safety and protective knowledge,showing an emphasis on occupational health.Participants demonstrated a strong desire to learn and innovate,with 87.01%actively participating in continuing education and research activities,reflecting a pursuit of professional development.Conclusion:Based on the results of the two rounds of expert consultations,a competency evaluation model for infection control personnel in TCM hospitals was formed.Through the analytic hierarchy process,the weight coefficients of various indicators at different levels in the model were obtained,and the research results have good scientific validity and reliability. 展开更多

Objective:To evaluate the practicality of constructing multiple evaluation index systems for postgraduates in clinical medicine professional degree based on job competency.Methods:The theoretical framework of the evaluation index system was initially developed using expert consultation,literature review,and other methods.20 survey experts were selected and consulted using the Delphi method to screen and evaluate the weights of multiple indicators.Data was then entered into a table to evaluate the practicality of the constructed indicators.Results:The questionnaire recovery rate of the first round of expert consultation was 92.50%,and the second round was 100.00%.The comparison between the two groups showed P<0.05.The authority level of the first round was 0.817,and the second round was 0.811.In the first round of coordination,the chi-square value of the first-level indicators was 0.498,and the chi-square value of the second-level indicators was 0.628.In the second round of coordination,the chi-square value of the first-level indicators was 0.573,and the chi-square value of the second-level indicators was 0.634.The comparison between the two rounds showed P<0.05.The evaluation index system included 2 first-level indicators,5 second-level indicators,and 31 third-level indicators.Conclusion:Constructing an evaluation index system based on job competency is highly scientific,with a reasonable construction process and high practical value. 展开更多

Chinese High School Students AI Competency Survey: Based on the UNESCO Students’ AI Competency Framework

This study aims to investigate the current status of AI competencies among Chinese high school students using quantitative research methods.By integrating UNESCO’s AI Competency Framework for Students with China’s educational practices,a questionnaire was developed.Altogether,300 students from eight high schools joined the research.SPSS 26.0 was used for reliability and validity tests,exploratory factor analysis,and group difference analysis.The results show that the questionnaire has good reliability and validity(Cronbach’sα=0.974,KMO=0.912,Bartlett’s test of sphericity was significant with p<0.001,cumulative variance explained 72.0%).Besides,Chinese high school students’AI competencies exhibit a typical pattern of“strong in technology,weak in ethics,and insufficient in creativity”,with technical application ability(mean=3.7)significantly higher than ethical assessment(mean=3.0)and system design(mean=2.8).What’s more,students in the eastern region have significantly better overall competencies than those in the central and western regions(p<0.05),with the largest gap in the technical application dimension(mean difference=0.7)and the smallest gap in the ethical dimension(mean difference=0.3).The study recommends optimizing high school curricula by adding modules for ethical debates and interdisciplinary projects and promoting equitable distribution of educational resources.This research empirically supports global AI education standardization and offers a scientific basis for AI education policies and curriculum design in China’s high schools. 展开更多

Graduate students universally struggle with vague topics,insufficient innovation,and logical gaps in research proposals,highlighting the need for structured scientific training.This study presents an innovative pedagogical model embedding scholarly literature’s logical architecture into LBL-RBL hybrid teaching,implemented in Kunming Medical University’s Neuropathophysiology course.Targeting the complexity of neurological disease mechanisms,the course integrates lecture-based learning(LBL)and research-based learning(RBL)through a small-cohort framework featuring personalized literature-logic embedding→targeted lecture reinforcement→multi-round proposal iteration.Faculty deconstructed domain literature to establish a three-phase training system(“Logic Demonstration-Methodology Mapping-Proposal Embedding”),systematically merging academic logic with research methodology over 9 weeks.Results demonstrate that this problem-driven approach creates authentic scientific inquiry scenarios,activating student knowledge co-construction and collaborative exploration.It successfully enables dynamic competency progression through“cognitive deconstruction→methodological practice→proposal refinement,”significantly enhancing proposal rigor and innovation.This study offers a scalable dual-track solution for cultivating advanced scientific capabilities in medical graduate education. 展开更多

With the rise of data-intensive research,data literacy has become a critical capability for improving scientific data quality and achieving artificial intelligence(AI)readiness.In the biomedical domain,data are characterized by high complexity and privacy sensitivity,calling for robust and systematic data management skills.This paper reviews current trends in scientific data governance and the evolving policy landscape,highlighting persistent challenges such as inconsistent standards,semantic misalignment,and limited awareness of compliance.These issues are largely rooted in the lack of structured training and practical support for researchers.In response,this study builds on existing data literacy frameworks and integrates the specific demands of biomedical research to propose a comprehensive,lifecycle-oriented data literacy competency model with an emphasis on ethics and regulatory awareness.Furthermore,it outlines a tiered training strategy tailored to different research stages—undergraduate,graduate,and professional,offering theoretical foundations and practical pathways for universities and research institutions to advance data literacy education. 展开更多

Objective:To elucidate the role and clinical potential of the lncRNA DLX6-AS1/miR-26a/PTEN axis in liver fibrosis.Methods:Systematic studies were conducted using cellular and animal models through causal validation,bivariate experiments,single-cell sequencing,ROC analysis of clinical samples,and humanized mouse models.Results:LncRNA DLX6-AS1 inhibited PTEN by adsorbing miR-26a,promoting hepatic stellate cell activation in a dose/time-dependent manner;the axis demonstrated excellent diagnostic performance(AUC>0.9),and its inhibitors effectively reversed fibrosis in vivo.Conclusion:This study provides new biomarkers and targeted therapeutic strategies for liver fibrosis. 展开更多

Objective:To investigate the effectiveness of a competency-oriented TCM workshop teaching model for integrated medical and elderly care in geriatric nursing positions.Methods:A stratified sampling method was employed to select 100 nurses from three integrated medical-care institutions in Guangyuan City.Using digital randomization,they were divided into a control group(conventional teaching model)and an educational reform group(competency-oriented TCM workshop model).The two groups were compared in training performance,evaluation of teaching models,job competency,and TCM nursing service quality.Results:The educational reform group demonstrated statistically significant higher scores(P<0.05),better evaluations of teaching models,enhanced job competencies,and improved TCM nursing service quality compared to the control group.Conclusion:This competency-oriented TCM workshop teaching model effectively enhances nursing competencies in geriatric care,fully leverages TCM’s unique advantages,better meets elderly patients’medical and care needs,and improves the elderly experience in integrated medical-care institutions. 展开更多

Based on the competency model building theory, a literature review, a behavioral event interview and statistical analysis were used in this study to build a competency model for pharmacists in China. The competency model framework for pharmacists included five dimensions of characteristics, consisting of 25 competency elements of pharmacists, such as the general competency elements that all pharmacists should possess and outstanding competency elements that community pharmacists and hospital pharmacists should possess. This newly constructed competency model for pharmacists helped develop and cultivate the abilities of future Chinese pharmacists. 展开更多

Considering the dependence and competitive relation-ship between traumatic failure and degradation,the reliability assessment of products based on competing failure analysis is studied.The hazard rate of traumatic failure is regarded as a Weibull distribution of the degradation performance,and the Wiener process is used to describe the degradation process.The parameters are estimated with the maximum likelihood estimation(MLE)method.A reliability model based on competing failure analysis is proposed.A case study of the GaAs lasers is given to validate the effectiveness of the model and its solving method.The results indicate that if only the degradation failure is considered,the estimated result will be comparably optimistic.Meanwhile,the correlation between the degradation and traumatic failure has a great influence on the accuracy of reliability assessment. 展开更多

目的:研究在新形势下以Competency为导向的临床教师理论教学和实践教学在眼科研究生住院医师规范化培训中的应用和评价,及对研究生规培学生在临床过程中以Competency为导向学习和工作态度、能力、思维、运用等多方面受到的影响和作用。... 目的:研究在新形势下以Competency为导向的临床教师理论教学和实践教学在眼科研究生住院医师规范化培训中的应用和评价,及对研究生规培学生在临床过程中以Competency为导向学习和工作态度、能力、思维、运用等多方面受到的影响和作用。方法:选择在校研究生规培学生作为研究对象,随机抽样分为正常组和实验组,正常组采用传统教学方法,实验组采用以Competency为导向的临床教师教学,学习后采用调查问卷和实践技能水平考试评估教学成果。结果:对教师评价,实践技能考试实验照组均优于正常组。结论:以Competency为导向的教学理念在各个层面教学中的应用,可以为不同人才培养层次分别构建系统、连续、阶梯式的人才培养体系,为共性培养下的个性化培养提供理论依据,对于推动我国医学教育的科研创新、临床思维培养,具有一定价值。 展开更多
