The Corona Virus Disease 2019(COVID-19)has influenced the daily life of urban residents worldwide. In the post COVID-19 period, the proportion of public transport commuting trips decreased, whereas that of car commuting trips increased. As a sustainable travel mode, customized bus services have been promoted to ensure the public health security during commuting in this period in many cities in China and other countries. This study focused on the promotion of sustainable travel behavior in the post COVID-19 period from the perspective of customized bus services.A total of 664 respondents from Shanghai,China participated in this study to provide revealed preference(RP)and stated preference(SP)data related to the customized bus services in the post COVID-19 period. The mode choice model was established based on the hypothetical scenarios to estimate the commuters’intention to shift to the customized bus services, determine the mode preference of different groups, and suggest potential policies. The results showed that the preference for customized buses decreased with the increasing fare for one journey, the travel time, and the availability of a one-way ticket, and middle-class commuters had a higher preference for commuting by customized bus.The measures for the short and long term in the post COVID-19 period were proposed. The results of this study can help governments adopt policies to promote customized bus services not only in the post COVID-19 period but also during regular daily life. 展开更多

As an effective travel demand management means,park-and-ride(P&R)mode is an important part of urban traffic. In a traffic corridor with P&R service, suppose that the travel time on highway is uncertain,a cumulative prospect theory(CPT)-based travel decision-making model is established with two travel modes of driving all the way and(P&R).With this setting, the effect of various factors such as the transit fare rate, the parking fee and the total travel demand on the CPT-based and expected utility theory(EUT)-based equilibrium results are compared. In addition, the sensitivity analysis focus on CPT-related parameters are also performed. The numerical results in our case show that the equilibrium flow on P&R mode is always underestimated in an EUT-based model, especially for a low total travel demand. Also,it is found that reducing the transit fare rate or parking fee for P&R station and raising the parking fee for CBD has the same effect on promoting more commuters transfer to P&R mode, whatever CPT-based or EUT-based model is employed.Furthermore, commuter’s reference dependence characteristic is also observed in a CPT-based model, and it is especially noticeable when the road uncertainty is large. 展开更多

Urban transportation is a major element of sustainable urban development and a key factor affecting the health of urban residents. It influences public health through noise, air pollution, social isolation, inactive modes of transportation, and sedentary behaviors. This paper reviews literature related to urban transportation and health from two perspectives:travel behavior and environmental impact. It focuses on passenger transportation and freight transportation to analyze their respective negative environmental externalities, such as noise, environmental pollution, and accidents. After the literature review, the paper identifies the main deficiencies in urban transportation research aiming to build healthy cities, and proposes measures and suggestions for future research. 展开更多
